Yep, tried Googlin'. I check the blog, though. I'll probably whine if I can't find it again. :) THANKS for playing it, I haven't heard it before now and I'm a pretty avid listener. Do you know anything about Big Blood? Americans? Other country? Young? Old? Captivating.
  7:35pm
Joe:

You can find a whole ton of free Big Blood downloads on the new FMA: http://freemusicarchive.org/search/?quicksearch=&search-artist=big+blood&search-curator=&search-license=

Not this song...yet! But maybe eventually.
Great show, Monica, as always.

  8:06pm
Kris:

I appreciate your really satisfying well managed playlists and I tend to think it's because you're a girl (i'm a girl)
  8:09pm
ken in denver:

Hi Monica,

Really good show as usual. I especially dug Diamond Center.
  8:10pm
texas scott:

i just cancelled my myspace account

my only social networking is wfmu.

i like talking to strangers.
  8:11pm
Websie:

hey Mo, I use F'book... But I find almost no one under age 35 wants to plan anything more than 20 minutes in advance, so it's of limited usefulness!
  8:11pm
Little Fyodor:

Just joined Facebook yesterday!!! Been on MySpace for a while and didn't think I could afford more time on another such thang, but various factors led me to reconsider. Now my life is way too complicated, but I guess that's the modern world...
  8:13pm
Parq:

Miss Monica, the FMU playlist comment page *is* a social networking site -- somewhat, I know, to the consternation of some staffers who were hoping for hundreds of different commenters per show. As for the more traditional SNWSs, I use Facebook, where I have a WFMU photo album, but that's about it. Just not a viable candidate for Twitter and the like.
  8:14pm
miketp:

got more than i can handle from the fmu universe fmu keeps me busy. oh my dad loves jimmy durante
  8:15pm
Websie:

Durante -- there's a man who never said "Text me later."
  8:15pm
Dagmar De Witt:

TS is so on it!!!

I am terrified by Facebook and twittering. Cell phones and texting are crazy enough. ( as if I even know how to text???)

When one is as well known as we all are, why do we need a larger social network?

As Mr. J D says - "the song should come from the heart!".
  8:15pm
Dagmar:

Monica,

Great story in NY Times Mag today called Let Them Eat Tweets. It included the following (by Emily Dickinson) " How public - like a frog - / To tell one's name - the livelong June - / To an admiring Bog!". Says it all.

Right on Texas Scott . . .
  8:17pm
Dagmar Paley:

Excuse me, Ms DeWitt, but I believe your name is Fiona!
  8:18pm
anh:

i like more using flickr to find people, to share artwork, i find it more productive. I use facebook only when i'm really bored. And only to take a silly quiz.
  8:18pm
sugarwolf:

My computer is too old and tired for facebook.

I joined the myspace/facebook for knitters/crocheters, Ravelry.
  8:19pm
Parq:

If Helen Traubel had a show on FMU, would she be DJ Traubel? This is the Old Fashioned World!
  8:19pm
Fiona DeWitt:

Pardon ne moi!

Ms. Fudgie made me do it.
  8:20pm
SeanG:

I just use WFMU, but thinking of trying out Twitter-just purchased a turntable this week, it's awesome--that's hilarious Parq
  8:20pm
mike tp:

parq that was a good one
  8:21pm
fudgie dellamoor:

take a powder,fi fi!
  8:22pm
Websie:

  8:22pm
miketp:

  8:24pm
CB1:

God, I thought that was the Ventures, probably the first music I ever became away of.
  8:29pm
mike tp:

  8:32pm

  8:42pm
?:

Twitter = Hoola Hoop
  8:42pm
CB2:

have to add that my message did not say - "I HATE U - because that is not MY earliest music memory!"

I wish I could say so.
  8:44pm
ken in denver:

Hey Fyodor, I think I used to do a show next to yours on KGNU in the early '80s.
  8:47pm
miketp:

cb2 i feel better im the sensitive type
  8:48pm
monica:

hey there kris and ken in denver! you too, websie! and ltlle fyodor...ynd i see you ?...fudgie, fiona, dag, Sean G.... and thank you all for sharing yer social networking habits... i'm new to it and a bit shy and unknowledgable about how to use...
  8:49pm
CB2:

I agree that "hate" is too strong - not the best on the compturing. Hit the button too soon.

My first remembrance is Tennessee Ernie Ford - singing "Sixteen Tons" in a rocking chair on black and white TV.

Sometimes "cute" doesn't work.

Mea culpa!
  8:51pm
CB1:

CB2 - I remember TE Ford doing 16 Tons. Why would he sing that in a rocker, anyway?
  8:52pm
cheri:

heeey there monica---i wanna give a shout out to my friends dawn & diamond=)=)=) thnx monica
  8:55pm
cheri:

monica play the cake on next weeks show PLEASE,, ty agian monica
  8:56pm
Cb2:

That was his "schtick" ( I don't know how to spell it), but he loved to sing rocking on the front porch - it's a southern/country thang.
  8:57pm
CB1:

Oh, I thought maybe he was just pooped from all that "loadin"
  8:58pm
Parq:

Miss Mon, this Gladys takes me straight back to high school, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
  9:00pm
Parq:

Ah, not Gladys. Coulda fooled me. Did, in fact.
  2:41pm
Melissa:

OMG, I just came across your play list & I notice that my aunt & cousin singing group from back in the days are on your playlist. The Mosby family singers.
I can't belive how young they were.
