Tony Conrad and Keiji Haino @ The Studio...a few hours ago was FANTASTIC. Mind blowing. I presume she was playing the theremin (as well as other instruments.) She made it roar.I had never heard of her or her work. Did I mention that it was fantastic?! These older artists mesmerized us children. Radical.
The opening artist, violinist C. Spencer Yeh was really good. Then Tony and Keijo went casually onstage and proceeded to blow up the room. Watched for a while... closed my eyes watched ....it was amazing.
Friday night I went to hear Rhys Chatham band perform Guitar Trio 77.At the Metropolitan Museum of art. An event that the museum should have produced as a free event cost $40! Gross. I got comped but the theater was only about 1/5 full because of the ridiculous price...though last week Rhys posted the news that the Met was selling cheaper tickets to artists...$25 is not cheap for most people I know. And Rhys tried to comp as many people as possible as he was aghast at the price..."GuitarTrio live always is a thrill. Rhys was at the Conrad/Haino concert -of course.
