Listener comments!

  9:05am
Bad Ronald:

Mmmm, pig snout!
  9:06am
BW:

morning world! is this it? did the pigs sneak up on us?
  9:07am
C:

that picture made my day
  9:08am
Jøe Steele:

I just had me some taylor ham. Let 'em know who's still boss.
  9:10am
Kevin Metheny:

I am Pig Virus!
  9:12am
Parq:

PIGSSS - INNN - SPAAAACE!
  9:14am
still b/p:

"We're being drawn by a powerful vacuum."
The self-scorning artist.
  9:17am
trrrish:

Cute photo. Timing is hilarious.
  9:17am
Neil:

I have a different take on the sign you saw from the Paris movie theater. I dream of a society where people can get arrested for talking during a movie.
  9:19am
Parq:

Neil, I was gonna say, I can't think of a single subway trip I've ever taken where there *wasn't* someone talking too loudly or gesticulating wildly. They're the crowd that inspired Bill Cosby's "A Nut In Every Car" bit.
  9:28am
bw:

there were no masks on the subway today but I don't feel so good though....
  9:31am
still b/p:

Mummified Vacuumites not GNFAB.
GNFA breakfast cereal!
  9:32am
bw:

hey I just got a confirmation that Armando Iannucci is gonna be on the show today at 11ish! to talk about his new movie "in the loop"
  9:34am
Doctor B.:

Tasty space for breakfast? Robert Fripp, The Boredoms, and a hokey 1930's sci-fi comic? I love it! Great show!
  9:37am
Parq:

On the other hand, b/p, "Giant Clamps Begin to Rise" definitely = GNFAB
  9:38am
bw:

and at 10 am we are gonna call out to Daniel H in Mexico City -
here is his take on whats going on
http://danielhernandez.typepad.com/daniel_hernandez/2009/04/in-mexico-city-the-infection-is-fear.html
  9:38am
Jøe Steele:

"Space" looks familiar
  9:43am
concerned:

you are exaggerating the effect of the swine flu. none of the kids in nyc who have it are seriously ill
  9:45am
bw:

dear concerned
Im talking about the 100+ dead people in Mexico City!
  9:46am
~L:

It's a hybrid flu, so you get a little bird flu mixed with your swine and human flu bug, so no need to be disappointed. But I don't think you have it... drink some green tea and then drink water with lemon. You'll be fine. Hope you will feel better soon.
  9:47am
dei xhrist:

just tuning in for some Monday illustrated scifi. The toddler swapping DNA with the swine is used by a local (Manchester NH) BBQ joint in their print ads, with the byline "you never forget your first love." They also define vegetarians as a healthy meat alternative; they're lean, free range, and fed with organic vegetables and grain.
  9:48am
Bad Ronald:

Hey, those Vacuumites look like Gordon Ramsay!
  9:56am
dc p:

I love the Fletcher Hanks stuff.
  10:03am
tim:

Hey BW: I don't think you got an appropriate reply on the Iannucci appearance. Fantastic! He's brilliant, much admired. The "Shows" [sic] is a top-shelf item of this decade.
  10:03am
Jøe Steele:

"Space"? more like "Wuss"
  10:07am
Pearly Sweets:

Holy Smoke! Look at our manometer!
  10:08am
~L:

Is Mexico City like an incubator due to the cloud of pollution the city exists under? Do they still have oxygen booths on the street?
  10:09am
postmanpaul:

bw - you'll soon be fine and funky again, it's just a touch of wfm flu.
salutations *wiggles asymmetric ears* all aboard the vacuum meteor.
  10:09am
Cecile:

hola, you guys.
  10:10am
jaypee:

Good morning, everyone. BW, I'm loving your set!

Re: schweinflu. This report about MX City is creepy.
  10:11am
Cecile:

who is on the phone?
  10:12am
jaypee:

Cecile, this guy: http://danielhernandez.typepad.com/daniel_hernandez/2009/04/in-mexico-city-the-infection-is-fear.html
  10:13am
Cecile:

why would peple be that stupid?
The flu goes away, people return to Mexico.
Like SARS in Canada.
Peple are stupid. Stupid.
  10:16am
Pearly Sweets:

SARS!? IN CANADA!? Sweet Heebus Jeebus! Is no where safe?!
  10:17am
Terry:

Hey! I know that baby (the pig kissing one). She's alive and well! The photo is at least 2 years old too. Should tell her folks about the stupid Manchester NH BBQ place...
  10:17am
bw:

good to hear about the baby!!!
  10:18am
Pearly Sweets:

Next thing I'll know the bird flu or allergies might come back! I was sneezing this morning after smelling the spring flowers…
  10:18am
Cecile:

I know this is an overwrought, crazy song, but if you could slide in the Mars Volta's The Widow, that would be great.

SARS was berry, berry good to us when we went there in 2003. We got a sweet discount on our hotel rooms from the Province of Ontario.
  10:19am
jaypee:

Terry, that baby is the key to our survival! She obviously has antibodies that defend against SCHWEINFLU. We must HARVEST them for a VACCINE!
  10:19am
Pearly Sweets:

If we could just put all of the infected under the vaccum ortho glows, we'll be able to clean the virus right off of their bodies.
  10:20am
Pearly Sweets:

YES, JAYPEE! We must find the chosen child!
  10:21am
Cecile:

I think I saw this in a movie. Wasn't Clive Owen in it? He's hot.
  10:22am
AnAnonymousParty:

Is it me or are the vacuumites sporting dreadlocks?
  10:23am
jaypee:

Cecile, yeah, but this movie will be much cuter without the drab clothing and yucky death. Just babies kissing pigs!

Oh.. and antibody harvesting, of course.
  10:23am
Cecile:

I like it. Let's take a meeting and make it happen.
I'll talk to Clive's people.
  10:24am
Starman:

That why I alway stay away from the Vacuum Meteors, the Vacuumite people are a nasty spieces
  10:24am
Vicki:

just saw on twitter that you've got a plane circling over fmu with a fighter jet accompanying it? Has it gone yet?
  10:24am
Patrick:

hey bw great show! i never get to listen but im on a mini vacation!! i just got the Juan Maclean this weekend, what a fantastic album!
  10:26am
Cecile:

is this cosmic cars cybotron or the Australian group?
  10:27am
trrrrish:

Reporters are idiots with numbers.
  10:29am
The Isley Beatles:

Shake it up, baby, now,
Kiss that snout,
C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon baby, now,
You can wig your folks out..
  10:30am
Cecile:

Yes. just the little music journalism I have done...that is the case. Why go to the library or Google or even talk to the subject if you can print half-substantiated factoids.
  10:30am
Jøe Steele:

I'm looking out my window, I haven't seen any planes circling.
  10:30am
Pearly Sweets:

I finished that dj mix this weekend. I am pretty proud of it. I also made sure to fit in some cornweenie in it.
  10:31am
bw:

I hear ya cecile - I hope my rumor that swine flu was started by the minutemen on the usa border - trying to close the borders by screwing pigs to create supervirus - makes it to the mainstream
  10:31am
Cecile:

AWESOME, PS.
  10:32am
Cecile:

I have officially reached my limit on this Rama song. That is fine. I will hit the mute button on my computer, and continue to visit.
  10:32am
dc p:

oh no! prepare to get freaked out...
  10:33am
still b/p:

Whoa! Too late -- Dianna looks like she's been vacuum-ortho-lamped about 75 percent of the way there.
  10:33am
Pearly Sweets:

Indeed. I have a high-res copy of it at neondoom.com at the bottom. And one copy left of the cd-rs with art, which there is an e-mail address on the site that you can send a message too and I'll mail it out. It does have some NSFW audio moments, however. I couldn't keep my bad habits down :(
  10:34am
dc p:

this rama tune is FREAKIN ME OUT!
  10:35am
bw:

Armando Iannucci is gonna join us at 11

I am so so so excited
  10:35am
belly hop:

this rama is great
  10:36am
belly hop:

is it all this good?
  10:36am
Pearly Sweets:

I even tacked on a little bit of the Prince Charles' "City Life" for you at the end, Cecile.
  10:37am
dc p:

hey where's annie? Cecile, I got tomatoes/carrots/onions/peppers in the "ground" over the weekend...
  10:37am
AnAnonymousParty:

Despite all the vacuumite's hi-tech wizardry, the guards still would not part with their trusty old 30-06 rifles.
  10:38am
Cecile:

you rule, Pearls.

dc p, she might be on puppy duty right now.
  10:38am
dc p:

I...feel...like...I'm .......turning......hippie.....
  10:39am
dei x:

wait, what were the Minutemen screwing pigs to? What kind of bolt configuration do you use for that? Some sort of pork hitch?
  10:39am
dc p:

does Ari Up have anything to do w/ prince rama?
  10:39am
Cecile:

hey, gardening is DIY. Very punk rock.
  10:40am
dc p:

can we please prefix 'Insane' to 'Minutemen' when we aren't talking about the San Pedro minutemen?
  10:41am
Cecile:

budos band are great.
  10:41am
dc p:

right on C!
  10:41am
Jøe Steele:

Strong enough to pull the door off the space ship, but they still have glass jaws.
  10:42am
oh man:

you are hystrical, bw. take a trank, please
  10:44am
still b/p:

I like the medieval cells. Blew the budget on the Giant Clamps, apparently. Or it's an aesthetic choice, like skull walls.
  10:45am
Bad Ronald:

We were told it, (the plane) was taking photo ops of the Statue of Liberty. It definitely freaked out a few folks downtown NYC.
  10:45am
Cecile:

"Is the Thick of It" like "State of Play"? Cause that original series was fantastic. I don't know about the movie. Very skeptical.
  10:46am
bw:

everything Ive read about the movie makes me think it will be great!

but Im with you Cecile.. been burned too many times
  10:47am
Cecile:

Where can you see these series you talked about? On the torrents? Which I am still not familiar with...
  10:48am
detroitdave:

Swine licking kids........VACUUMITES (that look like crackheads)?? I have stumbled onto something crazy here. Hey Ben!
  10:49am
Vicki:

now twitter is saying "office buildings in Jersey City evacuated due to possible plane hijacking - jets were trying to force the plane to land" - but that's ok, you just all ignore me...

  10:54am
belly hop:

wow, the bats are really making a comeback...they are all over the place these days
  10:54am
bw:

  10:57am
belly hop:

which is funny because of the three clean memebers he has the goofiest voice
  10:57am
detroitdave:

WTF...........the vacuumites only had 1 gun???
  10:57am
Cecile:

thanks, ben.

Always been good. Their new one is wonderful

Yeah, belly, but he writes some great songs.
  10:58am
"AnAnonymousParty":

"Space" had better hope the Martian gun doesn't have much of a kick, the way he's holding it.
  10:59am
Cecile:

Gotta jet.
Fun meetin'
at least bossman is going to get us hopped up on good espresso.
  11:00am
belly hop:

anyone who has a name that has to appear in quotes to be understood shouldnt be allowed in the "space" program anyhow
  11:00am
Jøe Steele:

First "Space" is all like, "We better do what they say." Now suddenly they're no match for the strong earth man,
  11:01am
Bad Ronald:

"Space" is all over the place.
  11:03am
"AnAnonymousParty":

Meanwhile, Tom Baker is thinking, "that 'Space' chap has no style".
  11:03am
"Space":

Those vacuumites really suck.
  11:03am
belly hop:

dianna looks as strong as space but space is getting all the good action
  11:03am
trrish:

Bye Cecile
  11:04am
belly hop:

look at those shoulder muscles on dianna
  11:06am
Jøe Steele:

Dianna's a dude, her name should be the one in quotes.
  11:07am
belly hop:

i was thinking that too...im gad someone finally said that about dianna
  11:09am
detroitdave:

she got manly limbs and knows how to hold a gun!
  11:10am
belly hop:

"ill melt the clamps..." whats really going on here?!?!?1
  11:11am
belly hop:

transgender "space" politics
  11:15am
bw:

still waitin for Armando to call!!

hold tight
  11:17am
"AnAnonymousParty":

And here I though "Dianna" just had a lot of freckles. If you are going to wear a dress, you really should shave your legs. And arms. And neck. And back.
  11:17am
belly hop:

ladies and gentlemen we are floating in "space"
  11:18am
Jøe Steele:

Boy, them Martians sure can build a gun.
  11:21am
belly hop:

is this chills from the secret box set?
  11:21am
AnAnonymousParty:

Memo: From Vacuumite Command.
Effective immediately, Martian ray guys are NOT to be left lying about in prisoner detention areas. All weapons shall be kept, locked, in a secure location.
  11:26am
Chris:

What is this Susan Boyle thing yr talking about?
  11:30am
GP:

Morning all...freshly escaped from my Mummified Vacuumite prison cell...whew...that was tough!
  11:30am
Parq:

Chris, google-news the name and you shall see much more than will likely interest you.
  11:33am
Chris:

No, I know who she is, but it sounded like this guy had done something with her appearance on the talent show or whatever.
  11:40am
tim:

Check out Brasseye, it really got Iannucci and Chris Morris in hot water.
  11:41am
bw:

i always think that brasseye and day today are the same program actually

all so good
  11:41am
Chris:

Thanks. A quick google suggests maybe I should follow up away from work.
  11:47am
tim:

You are a connoisseur. I agree, but only sort of.... I just re-watched the Brasseye paedophilia special. Unbelievable. But remember they were getting actual celebs and even MPs on camera (or on mike in the case of "On The Hour") and having them flap on about absolutely bogus stuff, e.g. the baby elephant with its head stuck in its anus, "Czech Neck" a result of a new club drug "Cake." No analogy in this country.
  11:47am
GP:

The scientific research that went into the writing of this comic ( nay, shall we say scientific treatise) is simply impeccable.
  11:49am
Parq:

"The ship rises like a rocket" - hilarious. They soared through space like space travelers!
  11:50am
bw:

tim

you are so right! thats what I was tryin to ask him about.. their show had real consequences.. i.e. makin fools of the people in charge..
  11:51am
still b/p:

If you suspect the swine flu virus is trying to infect you, throw over the checker and try a side spiral.
  11:54am
doug from dc:

The mummified vacuumites had the final triumph, however, when they converted all of outer space into a giant airless vacuum.
  11:55am
detroitdave:

That was a narrow escape..........it's ALWAYS a narrow escape in sci fi comix,.....you cant end like that.
  11:56am
GP:

What are you some kind of freakin wizard?
  11:56am
detroitdave:

Thats bullshit..."space" is supposed to score with the chick.
  11:57am
Amar:

Speaking of things found on the floors of subway cars...

http://www.redorbit.com/news/oddities/18020/woman_gives_birth_on_subway_train/
  11:57am
GP:

Exactly Detroit Dave, I feel TOTALLY ripped off.
  11:58am
dc pat:

detroitdave: see the above comments, she's not a 'chick'...
  11:59am
GP:

Why is "Space" in quotes throughout the strip but Dianna does not rate?
  11:59am
detroitdave:

Hmmm......Hey if thats true dc, What the hell kinda comic is this??
  12:00pm
Bad Ronald:

A poorly drawn one!
  12:00pm

because that's his nickname...short for Spaceford.
