Listener comments!

  3:06pm
esch oder anarchie!:

Thanks for being here DK -- need yr stuff this afternoon.
  3:08pm
GP:

Anyone see that show "Time Warp" last night on Discovery.
Metallica was on there and they were filming them with super high-speed cameras in order to show them in super slow motion...pretty cool.
  3:08pm
Cecile:

Diane. Like the color profile.

And saw Mastodon last night. AWESOME!
so good. So was Kylesa, really knocked it out of the park.
  3:09pm
Cecile:

was that for the "I Disappear" video.
Probably the only song of theirs I really like in the late 90s. Or whenever the hell it came out.
  3:13pm
GP:

No Cecile..its kind of a geeky show where they film a bunch of stuff and then slow it way down so you can see what is actually happening, like explosions and stuff.
I think that is the first time they had a band on there, but it was cool to watch Lars playing the drums at that slow speed. Every time he hit the cymbal it distorted so much it looked like water.
  3:15pm
?:

Oh, that is so cool. I will ahve to look for that again

YEAH KYLESA. They totally nailed that last night.
  3:17pm
That was me, Cecile:

agfh
  3:17pm
Jøe Steele:

If this boradcast day gets any awesomer, I'm gonna start thinking it's Tuesday or something.
  3:19pm
GP:

I recognised your question mark!
  3:21pm
mb:

Cecile

Did Mastodon play the new album in its entirety?
  3:24pm
Cecile:

Yes! In order.
Awesome movies and whatnot behind it. If it wasn't Sergei Eisenstein clips, they did a hell of a job imitating them.

And then they did about 3 songs off Blood Mountain, 2 off Leviathan, 2 off Remission and then we got wimpy and went home so I don't know what they played next
  3:25pm
stingy d:

nice color scheme you got here.
  3:25pm
GP:

LOL this Carcass song title
  3:26pm
Cecile:

I know. I love this record.
Its carcass vocals over thrash metal. It rules.
  3:45pm
Wimpy:

BTW, thanks for the burger Cecile.
  3:45pm
Cecile:

I want a banana split 5 miles long.
  3:47pm
Cecile:

what burger?
  3:47pm
Bad Ronald:

Tra La La!!!
  3:47pm
BSI:

I want a prawn curry five feet deep.
  3:49pm
BSI:

miles.
make that five miles deep.
  3:49pm
Cecile:

yeh BSI
  3:58pm
BSI:

...and a colossal mountain of potato samosas, a garlic naan the size of Louisville KY, and a Newcastle.

For here, pls.
  3:59pm
esch oder anarchie!:

This last part reminds me of Come. How come nobody plays Come anymore?
  4:00pm
Cecile:

That's going to be the next Mastodon release, when they go in an Indian direction: Samosa Mountain

How come you don't request it?
  4:03pm
Glenn L:

Woo-hoo!
The Dead C's pop hit!!
Thanks Diane - you just made my afternoon!
  4:04pm
the rain:

great pop song from dead c
  4:05pm
Cecile:

Yay Dead C!
  4:05pm
the rain:

glenn l beat me to the punch
  4:08pm
Cecile:

YEAH the rifles
  4:10pm
Glenn L:

I saw the Dead C at Maxwells and, after opening w/Helen Said This, they actually took requests from the crowd and sure enough someone shouted out Scarey Nest and they played it!
  4:11pm
dc pat:

ha! esch I was into them for a while. Saw them a couple times. They're depressing to me for some reason...and not in a fun way.
  4:12pm
the rain:

i saw the dead c at maxwells once w/harry pussy...almost passed out from the heat (or from the sonic waves)
  4:13pm
dc pat:

oops...
  4:15pm
Cecile:

effigies!
  4:17pm
Glenn L:

Well lots of slow minor chord songs with titles like "Suffer Bomb Damage" it can be understandably depressing, but I like it. Harry Pussy did open the Dead C's one and only Maxwells show. They only played their hits. What year was that?
  4:18pm
BSI:

aaah....... classic DC be in the house now...
  4:20pm
Cecile:

I just started really listening to them
Their later stuff, especially Harsh 70s Reality sounds like a storm. Grey skies and water washing up on the rocks.
  4:20pm
the rain:

that dead c show was maybe 97 98....can that be right?
  4:21pm
esch oder anarchie!:

Hey dc pat - I'll admit Come makes me melancholy but in a very entralling way. But I've only ever heard dont ask dont tell. also saw them in chicago and it was even sadder and lovelier.
  4:23pm
Cecile:

hey did anyone see Pentagram when they played out?
  4:24pm
Chirs:

Yeah, they were actually really really good
  4:26pm
Glenn L:

Harsh 70's is pretty extreme. Try Trapdoor F-ing Exit or Eusa Kills or DR-503. I believe there are some new vinyl reissues on Ba-Da-Bing.

'97 sounds right. Their recent NYC shows (like their recent records) were way more on the improv tip.
  4:26pm
GP:

Is this the David Lee Roth of metal?
  4:28pm
Cecile:

the last few Primal Fear discs have been better than the last few Judas Priest discs.
  4:29pm
GP:

hehe..just listening not looking, this sounded like "Italians of Hate"...What do the Italians have against me?
  4:30pm
Cecile:

I like Harsh 70s. And the compilation. Like I said, I like the water washing up on the rocks sounds. Especially on the bus.

Chris, cool!!!!
  4:31pm
the rain:

ve never been in a war myself...but if its anything like this song....
  4:31pm
BSI:

God, I'm cracking up over ITALIANS OF HATE over here... can't focus...
  4:32pm
Sven:

play Motorhead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4:32pm
Cecile:

They hate us for what we did to spaghetti
  4:36pm
GP:

Whistling Germans..yeah
  4:39pm
Matt H:

Man, this Liliput is great. Never heard of them before. Any of their other stuff up to the same standard?
  4:39pm
shad:

you cant play that Liliput song enough
  4:42pm
Glenn L:

Yes. Matt H, Kleenex (same people) are also great too!
  4:46pm
Matt H:

Sweet, will check them both out when I have a spare moment.
  4:48pm
Glenn L:

Think there's a CD comp of both bands from one of Olympia Washington labels.
  4:49pm
Cecile:

YES the SWEET
  4:49pm
doug from dc:

Sweet, it's Sweet.
  4:50pm
GP:

Used to think Sweet was so cool back in the day ( still do) , but damn, this sounds like a Scooby Doo soundtrack.
  4:50pm
Glenn L:

Make it a Blockbuster night.
  4:53pm
Cecile:

stoner rock and no weed. I hate being old and responsible.
  4:56pm
GP:

YëS!!
  5:08pm
Pearly Sweets:

Aw man! I missed the sweet! Shame on me!
  5:16pm
Cecile:

WHEN? When are they on David Letterman?
  5:19pm
ganjibus:

May 15th Cecile... Should be enough time to score some weed by then.
  5:25pm
Cecile:

Yeah, man. Or at least not being around people who are smoking so I don't feel left out.
  5:25pm
Cecile:

This urge strikes me about once a year, and then I stamp it down.
  5:28pm
BearJaw:

That new Samael album is bonkers.
  5:28pm
GP:

10-4 on that Cecile..can't support it with all the drug war crap that is going on in Mexico right now, don't want to contribute to that mess...just my 2cents.
  5:34pm
Cecile:

Yeah, exactly. Too much drama.

I liked the comedian Ron White's rationale for asking for medical marijuana:
"I freak out when I'm out of weed."
  5:41pm
stingy d:

you birds still yabberin about pot?
  5:43pm
stingy d:

if so, i'm your guy in on the slab.
  5:44pm
Cecile:

For a while. i just have to weather this urge-storm, and then I'll be aces. In an hour, I'll forget I ever wanted it.
  5:46pm
GP:

Still gonna try the Absinhte though
  5:47pm
Parq:

Llistening, too swamped at the desk to play along. I dig the color scheme, too. Re GP 5:28, rat own; I've been saying that for years.
  5:49pm
BearJaw:

Where can I get some pot? Preferably White Widow.
  5:52pm
stingy d:

i stay aces with my perky little candies. i guess they actually make me fuzzy. good for gettin cozy. absinthe i dunno. sure. i hate hallucinating. i smoked blue dream eysterday. hey bearjaw- ask your friends. but white widow is hard to find
