About those Elfa shelves: they are very modular. I have an entire wall with 3 metre shelves, the deepest are over 12", the smallest are a bit more than a CD, and then I have some inbetween. Of course, they aren't the swellest looking, perhaps.

V, before you buy shelving you must answer some questions: How much are you willing to spend? If you've got a limited budget, then you will probably NOT want solid wood. How much media do you need to shelve? Hundreds of discs could be put into a single cabinet, whereas if you've got thousands of discs, then you'll need several cabinets. If you need more than one, do you want them all to match? Do you want them made out of metal which costs the most? Solid wood could be expensive when talking about several matching cabinets. Mobile cabinets are possible, such as double sided. Do you need them to CLOSE eliminating the dust factor, or always open is okay? How TALL do you want to go, and how wide? Answers to each of these questions are necessary before directing you down the correct path of media cabinetry. I know, because I've got many thousands of discs and have learned all about the scene. The best solid wood cabinets come from a place in Boston that you'd have to go to personally to pick up. Less expensive ones are available on line but they're much smaller and much more expensive. Again, if you're on a budget, a fibreboard cabinet (sawdust and glue based called "particle board") is the least expensive but if you need a large one, it needs to go against a wall and won't be able to move at all once filled.
