Good morning.
Listening online, here in rural Virginia. Didn't give any thought to FMU for at least 20 years or so. Been in Va for 25-ish.
What brought me to listening was hitting a pprolonged crisis here. Sort of a psychological hostage situation, taking it and taking it, court dates 4 and 6 months away, doubting if I'll make it. (No, i'm not in jail.)
Regardless, tuned in, instantly relieved with Plastico, getting some of the jiust, then this hard-luck stuff. KNow it'll pick up, switch gears, and break away from itself, because that's what always happened, listening each night back in Jersey. Seemed like Irwin Chusid was on constantly. What a relief it would be when someone else would takeover. This is quite a relief now.

Out here in California, we're having massive union problems, layoffs, etc ... Unions are ugly. Good if you're a coal miner in the '30s, not so good if you're a government employee in the 21st century.

I'm a civil servant, and I don't mind that system at all, as it's less obtrusive and not tainted with corruption. But combine that with union representation and the dynamic changes, particularly in bad times.

I'm a civil servant *and* an AFSCME member, and come from a long line of union stagehands. The hostility of the non-working-class left toward unions illustrates that unions made the biggest mistake in their collective history when they lined up behind McCarthy and his witchhunts. I can just hear the Amer Mgt Assoc - "First we let the unions get rid of the left, then we get rid of the unions." And that's exactly how it played out.

I'm an AFSCME member as well.
I haven't seen that kind of hostility, Parq, even when I was out on strike back at my old department. Pretty much anyone who took the bus in Mpls wanted the strike to be resolved in our favor.

But I'm sure a lot of people feel that way.

As you may have seen in California, the fight is extremely vocal and will be ongoing. The populace doesn't want any tax increases, the unions won't give an inch on anything, and the Legislature refuses to cut programs. And we're 24 billion in the hole.

Nothing but sabre-rattling, lawsuits and special elections. I'm moving to Paraguay.
