Although yay St. Etienne!
  3:20pm
Laurie:

I love how nearly every band is sucking up to the crowd by complimenting them on their fútbol victory.
  3:20pm
Liz B.:

Jay Reatard (or his people) said no to broadcast, unfortunately.
  3:35pm
stingy d:

  4:02pm
esch oder anarchie!:

  4:04pm
Suz:

  4:06pm
Liz B.:

Fucked up will be archived, but not for a few days.
  4:07pm
O:

forced audience participation is not real audince participation
  4:08pm
Suz:

WTF how retarded is this one who s playing right now, go home!!!
  4:09pm
esch oder anarchie!:

I imagine myself, e.g., at last year's Pitchfork, being ordered around by some manic spanish punker trying to organize some sort of grand ego spectacle -- then telling me to "take a knee" -- what is this, football practice?
  4:09pm
O:

why is there an audience even left
  4:10pm
stingy d:

dan deacon really knows how to bring it out of people.
  4:12pm
suz:

he s just fucking ridiculous and annoying and his music sucks
  4:13pm
Laurie:

I hope there's video of Dan Deacon's attempt to direct the audience. And I hope this video is spliced together with Keyboard Cat and uploaded to Youtube.

  4:14pm
O:

if a band wants the audience to do its biding they should be handing out free drugs
  4:14pm
?:

Eh, one vote for the music, even though the audience stuff didn't seem to work out.
  4:15pm
Sandy Squire:

Trying to levitate the audience is one thing, but I dig the music!
Oh no! He's now bossing the lighting people around!! He has his "control issues" doesn't he?
  4:25pm
esch oder anarchie!:

Si, la musica est bueno.
  4:33pm
Doctor B.:

Dan Deacon rocks!!!
  4:34pm
Rebecca:

I think it sounds awesome, forced march and all! BTW, what does a Yo La Tengo sandwich have in it?
  4:36pm
jose':

  4:37pm
Liz B.:

Neil Young said no to WFMU. Apparently no one is cool enough to broadcast his set... though I can't imagine it won't be bootlegged somewhere on the internets.

Listener Syr:

  5:36pm
Laurie:

Am I the only one who thinks a Yo La Tengo should have been a BLT? YLT BLT. But maybe made with fake bacon or something.
  5:42pm
xiane in nc:

yes thanks for doing this - faith healers still got it!!
  5:49pm
Sonic Youth i can't wait:

th' faith healers...i never hear this before...but is so cool!
  5:49pm
Feral Cat:

Th' Faith Healers are cool catz alright! Wonder whats in the Yo La Tango sandwhich?
  5:51pm
Miss Abyss:

This is very cool!! 'FMU does it again! But am I correct to assume that you can't archive any of these sets? That would put all of this over the edge! Hey, are there any gluten-free rock-n-roller sandwiches there?
  5:57pm
Rebecca:

Many sets will be archived eventually. The sound from Spain cut out a lot and the better sounding recordings will be up for the bands that gave permission. The Faith Healers haven't given permission to archive their set as of now. But some more bands are expect to give their permission later on after they hear what the station has. (I do the archiving for the station.) I'm hoping the Faith Healers will be one of those who give permission later on.
  6:02pm
tremelovirus:

was so heartbroken when i figured out i wouldn't have the funds to go to this amazing fest.Bring these kinds of fests to the USA.Thanks WFMU for easing the pain.
  6:04pm
Nuno:

You've got Coachella, Bonnaroo and so on
  6:05pm
tremelovirus:

not the same dude.not even close to this lineup.
  6:06pm
Mr. Wango:

That's a great chin mustard on Ken! In addition to the fanny pack.
  6:06pm
Laurie:

I don't think that guy with the mullet is European. I'm pretty sure that's Kenny Powers.
  6:07pm
Miss Abyss:

Thanks, Rebecca! I'm hoping especially for Spiritualized, Spectrum, MBV, ACR and Jesus Lizard to be archived--esp. 'cos i was helping with an apartment move instead of listening. : ( Any word on any of those yet?
  6:07pm
Feral Cat:

Those things are ok at theme parks. Is he just afraid of being pick pocketed? That has to be the story...
  6:08pm
Nuno:

Spiritualized were awesome :)
  6:09pm
Nuno:

as always actually
  6:11pm
Rebecca:

I've got Jesus Lizard and ACR on my list of bands who have approved already. Not the others on your list.
  6:11pm
Laurie:

I haven't really heard Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti or whatever they're called before, so I assumed for some reason that they were synthpoppy or electro or something of that nature. Probably because of the name. Nothing wrong with synthpop, but I really love this sound! What a pleasant surprise!
  6:13pm
C:

yeah! i was thinking the same thing laurie. will have to check out the TIC archive
  6:18pm
Miss Abyss:

Good to hear, Nuno, but, yeah, I was going to say that too---The Spaceman and crew ALWAYS give it! No flat-out no's from the others in my list though, right Rebecca? Do you know about when you expect the sets will start showing up in the archives? Thanks for all your work!!
  6:24pm
Rebecca:

I don't know about flat no's, but I heard that some more are expected to give permission. I think that the shows might take some time to go up as they will be bringing the good recordings back from Europe and then they will have to edit them into individual sets. I think most of them are taking a week's vacation in Europe after the show so it might be a while. Unless we put up a few of the lower quality sets temporarily before then.
  6:25pm
Nuno:

I'm really lookin' forward to listen the new Sonic Youth songs : 3
  6:25pm
Rebecca:

Ariel Pink is another that gave permission to be archived.
  6:26pm
cs:

is it ok to make fun of mullets if a band member has one?
  6:26pm
Nuno:

The new Sonic Youth songs live *
  6:26pm
Chris:

hopefully someone will create a torrent eventually.sorry Rebecca.I didn't say that.
  6:30pm
Laurie:

Wow, Ariel Pink sound great.
  6:32pm
Rebecca:

;)
  6:37pm
cs:

i heard them mention the exstacy but didnt know about the crack
  6:38pm
Laurie:

I wonder if St. Etienne played the kids tent. They did put out a really fun children's album.
  6:40pm
Laurie:

Oh boy. Leggings are not pants. I once saw a young-ish girl, probably in her early twenties? Late teens? I don't know. She wore acid yellow leggings. No skirt. Not a good look...
  6:45pm
C:

i thought it was a pretty good look on her actually
  6:47pm
Nuno:

I'm with Laurie. Nothing's better than jeans ;D
  7:06pm
Stephanie:

I wonder if St. Etienne will play "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" - wouldn't it be great if Neil Young joined, as he wrote the song!
  7:07pm
cs:

i feel very conflicted about that slack image - is thata mullet on neil?
  7:07pm
suz:

it would be awesome...go Neil pls
  7:07pm
Stephanie:

That track was essential the first song that got them noticed..
  7:10pm
Laurie:

"A Good Thing"! I love this song.
  7:12pm
Stephanie:

I think she is referring to Pedro Almodovar... apparently he used this track in Volver...
  7:24pm
Mike Sin from the board:

If you're a fan of St. Etienne, you're hearing quite an awesome set!
  7:26pm
Sam:

Question: Did Deerhunter already go on? I thought I remember hearing that WFMU was going to broadcast Deerhunter's set.
  7:29pm
Mike Sin from the board:

Deerhunter tonight at 11 pm (EDT).
  7:35pm
Sam:

  9:53pm
Rebecca:

I think there was a time conflict with Yo La Tengo and someone announced that their set would be broadcast in later weeks on WFMU. I think that's what I heard the first night of the concert.
  9:54pm
BT:

Laurie, YLT didnt say no.... we hope to air it in the nearish future though. There's lots on many levels involved w/these simulcasts and understandably we want to keep parties happy. All good. YLT give total love to fmu and nothing less...
