My wife and I visited the mineral spring baths at Big Sur. After toweling off, we observed blackening of our silver jewelry. We were told it was the result of sulpher in the waters of the mineral baths. We were also informed that common toothpaste or Tarn-X would alleviate the problem. However, I have chosen to keep the tarneshing as I feel it actually adds to the aesthetic appeal of the jewelry -- in effect, giving me a "tougher" outward appearance ... grizzled and time-worn.
