Listener comments!

  6:08am
Chuck:

Guten Morgan! Wie gehts? Interesting Ginsberg piece to start with. Thought it was Phil Ochs at first, sounded like him.
  6:10am
Meghan:

I love that poem of his...i always think he sounds like Kerouac. I have an Ochs piece for the next show actually....
  6:12am
Chuck:

Well all those folks were of the same generation. No surprise. Which Ochs cut?
  6:13am
Meghan:

It was a song about summer.... I can't recall offhand.... Coffee hasn't fully kicked in yet.... hehe
  6:15am
Chuck:

Know what you mean. Why do they make me do arithmetic this early just to post a comment?!?!
  6:17am
Meghan:

I know what you mean.... this is the first show where i didn't get paranoid prior to waking up. I slept soundly, not waking up every hour on the hour.....
  6:20am
Chuck:

Ah, the antisipation.., I have a tendency to pace through the house before a VKR show... A LOT! Cool! Nobody plays the Squares. Actually, few even know about them.
  6:35am
jay:

hi are you going to play any music by george m cohen ? he wrote a lot of music in the for shows years ago all the best Jay
  6:36am
Meghan:

oh i don't have any George Cohen.... I don't know of him.... I will have to look him up! Thanks for the tip!
  6:36am
Chuck:

"See The USA" sounded like Doris Day... ???
  6:37am
Meghan:

I did Chuck! it doesn't give me any other info... another MP3 find... It might have been....
  6:43am
Chuck:

Check out the old film "Yankee Doodle Dandy" staring James Cagney. It's about George M. Cohen. He also wrote "You're A Grand Old Flag" and "Over There".
  6:44am
Meghan:

ahhhhh, I didn't even THINK of that movie either.... I didn't know he was the composer of those... thanks Chuck for the info!
  6:46am
jay:

hi again, have you heard of Yankee doodle dandy, Forty-five minutes from broadway, and Over there, all by george m cohan he wrote lots of plays
  6:49am
Chuck:

Hehe... I actually wrote a report on George M. In the fifth grade!
  6:54am
jay:

hey chuck , i saw that james cagney fim when i was real young it was the only one that he danced in and i think won his only oscar pity it was in black and white
  6:55am
Chuck:

Humm... And I was going to come up with some suggestions for summer. Sounds like you're overloaded with material as it is, so I'll refrain...
  6:57am
Meghan:

No don't refrain! Send away! I am not totally full of songs for 2 shows....
  6:58am
Chuck:

Yes, Jay. And quite a "hoofer" Mr Cagney was! Don't think it's a pity that it was in B&W though. It was just as it should be...
  6:59am
Chuck:

Oaky Doke, Meghan! I'll send a list later today...
  7:07am
kate:

love that femmes tune!
  7:09am
Meghan:

Hello Kate! Were you singing along? i know I was!
  7:10am
kate:

you betcha! and now i'm singing along with primus, haven't listened to them in ages! :)
  7:17am
Chuck:

Iggy! Wonder if PG is listening today. He's Iggy's #1 fan...
  7:20am
Meghan:

oh really? he'll be bummed he missed out if he isn't!
  7:22am
Chuck:

Spoke to him last night during his show. I should've reminded him you were on this morning. Hey! I have this punk comp, it's the coolest!!!
  7:31am
Jeff:

Hey, is Rain on the Scarecrow on that album... The Best that I Could Do 1978 - 1988?
  7:33am
Jeff:

If it doesn't, I guess it doesn't really include the BEST he could do.
  7:35am
Chuck:

Morning, Jeff!
  7:35am
Meghan:

OMG... give up on that song! It was totally not a hit!
  7:37am
Jeff:

Good morning, Chuck. Maybe you can settle this... was Rain on the Scarecrow a hit for Mellencamp?
  7:40am
Jeff:

By the way, the field recording sounds great. I think I heard the kid with the dump truck. I also enjoyed the Washington Squares. I've never heard that tune.... AHHH now I'm singing along!
  7:40am
Chuck:

Well, based on how many times I heard it on the radio, I'd have to say yes. Just my thought...
  7:42am
Jeff:

That was my argument too... so I guess it's settled. Chuck said it was a hit!
  7:42am
Chuck:

"West Side Story"! Probably one of the few musicals I actually liked...
  7:42am
Meghan:

Thanks Chuck....I got to go home to gloating now..... the answer is always- Sorry Jeff, you are wrong.... Always!
  7:43am
Jeff:

The only musical I like.
  7:44am
Chuck:

Hey! Don't get me involved in you marital issues!
  7:46am
Meghan:

Believe it or not, I have never fully seen West Side Story.... my favorite musical is Sound of Music, grew up with it. But i usually hate all musicals....
  7:47am
RichZ.:

How 'bout DINAH SHORE's "See The USA in Your Chevrolet", or JOHNNY CASH's "I've Been Everywhere" or 2 LIVE CREW's "Banned In The USA".....
  7:48am
Chuck:

There are only about 3 musicals that I really liked. "Brigadoon" and "1776" being the other two.
  7:49am
Meghan:

ahhh it was Dinah Shore! i played it earlier... we thought it was Doris Day. I have a Johnny Cash coming up, but not that one.... Saving the Everywhere one for a travel show. I kinda forgot about 2 Live Crew....
  7:50am
Chuck:

Ahh! Rich has come up with the artist for "See the USA"!
  7:52am
Jeff:

Is that Freedom Rock? Well, turn it up!!!! I was waiting for this one... now even B-Man is awake.
  7:53am
Meghan:

Awww the man.... good morning man!
  7:53am
Chuck:

WOOF! Bosco...
  7:54am
The Man:

translation (good morning)
  7:56am
Chuck:

Thought that meant "Where's my freakin' breakfast, Dude!". Thanks for clarifying...
  8:15am
Chuck:

Meghan, do you have "The Highwaymen"? Johnny, Waylan, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. If not get it, it's great!
  8:18am
Chuck:

The FMU web page says Robyn's there on the 14th.
  8:19am
RichZ.:

You do have The Godfather of Soul's "Living In America" cued up, right?
  8:19am
Meghan:

Oh I don't have it... will have to look in the Library for that...
  8:20am
Meghan:

You know Rich, I totally did have it and it was about to go into my cheese set, but i ran out of room! I was totally going back and forth with that one.... If only you told me ahead of time, it would have made it!
  8:26am
Chuck:

Do you know how Nick got the nickname Basher?
  8:26am
Meghan:

Nope, how?
  8:28am
Chuck:

From his "crude" production techniques for putting out a record. Hey, whatever works, right!
  8:29am
Meghan:

doesn't seem like it was a bad thing for him!
  8:32am
Chuck:

L&R, superb!
  8:53am
Chuck:

Wow, I would not have been able to tell this was Dead Can Dance. It's so different from their other stuff...
  8:55am
Chuck:

Tusch, until next time...
