A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Love your quiet approach to mornings, Miss T. Annie, FB me and tell me what's up.
  9:10am
annie:

well, i hope so. seems like the pile is getting higher. been sick with the runs, the water pump shut down so no water. and trivial: i am not able to access my FB account. i guess i'm just having a weird 24 hours. saw "public enemies"; not such a bad flick. parq you will have to email me. i am not able to send any messages at all, not even clicking "like"!!!!
  9:12am
Parq:

Gah. Okay, will do.
  9:14am
annie:

trouble, if this is an inappropriate chat, please feel free to delete..
  9:16am
Rob W:

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in Dawn Zimmer's house right now...
  9:24am
Parq:

Wow, Liz's disc is getting even more play than Tom's "Ram" disc. I am smug to note, both are on my "getting" list.
  9:24am
PMD:

Sounds like Amanda!
morning all..
  9:25am
PMD:

Annie, so sorry. How can you call FB trivial though! ;-)
Eat bananas, rice, peanut butter. But I'm sure you know that.
  9:26am
texas scott:

happy friday eve!
  9:29am
v k:

morning T r o u b l e...always excited to be tuned-in...nothing drowns out the sound of copying machines, telepones and office chatter quite as nicely as your fine program
  9:29am
annie:

PMD: notsowisewoman at the yahoo thing. i know the thing about the foods, yeah, it's almost past. yes scott. i dig ya!! thanks.. i feel like sleeping still. isa was so good last night, she must have sensed i was ill, she stayed quiet and subdued and even went to bed at 7:30 with me..i let her sleep on the bed. she was nice dog comfort...
  9:35am
dale:

morning trouble...is your background music from Forbidden Planet? great sound design in that film.....
  9:35am
dale:

....or Robinson Crusoe on Mars?
  9:38am
nasok:

speaking of moon music, did you see this thing in the NYT about pink floyd's playing live to the original moon landing?
http://tinyurl.com/ldp69r
  9:39am
ec:

"Major corruption and international money laundering"

Nice!
  9:39am
v k:

pink floyd...i felt like i was on the moon when i saw pink floyd live at Vanderbilt Stadium in 1994...first concert ever...16 years old
  9:40am
trouble:

yes dale! good call. that soundtrack is the best, although i have never seen the movie, i need to search that out
  9:40am
Katie:

as a hobokenite from Detroit - might rival RI for corruption - seeing my mayor as the lead photo being lead from his home in handcuffs is bringing back childhood memories.
  9:45am
dale:

did the cowsills or free design write the theme for Barbarella?
  9:46am
Bill W:

I last saw "Forbidden Planet" at the ancient Loews Jersey City! In the 3-speaker PERSPECTO system.

I am off to the dentist, where they likely won't have moon music.
  9:46am
ExRIer:

Trouble, I think Buddy Cianci (former mayor of Providence and convicted felon) might have the same AM radio slot as you.
  9:50am
trouble:

yes! me and buddy: rivals! that is fab!
  9:53am
Duke:

Buddy Cianci WPRO AM

  9:54am
Emily:

how did you know i was in the mood for reggae when I didn't even know! (guess that's why i love your show!)
  9:55am
ExRier:

Me too but has trouble ever accosted her spouse's lover with a burning log while a state trooper was posted outside? Just asking.
  9:56am
em:

buddy has his own marinara sauce though. but trouble does have a premium disc that i can't wait to hear.
  10:00am
who?:

who will risk his neck for his brotha-man?
  10:02am
fishmonkeystew:

Ahhh, yes, the fabled premiums. I'm beginning to wonder if my mail man swiped it.
  10:03am
Parq:

Miss T, I'm assuming that "Shaft" was a nod to Skip Pitts's titanic performance at the Pondo Stomp a week ago, broadcast live by His Spazzitude. If not intentionally so, it still works.
  10:03am
Duke:

I don't think Trouble did time in prison before getting her own shown either.
  10:06am
postmanpaul:

hi trouble, nice to hear shaft, fond memories of being a part-time roadie for the reformed 'fantastics' touring the northern working mens' clubs here once upon a time when i was at art college. they came on stage to this number and sans strobes but with me flicking the stage lights on and off 'till me wrist seized up! and thats a true story.
  10:11am
trouble:

post man paul, good to know about your varied past!. sounds like a movie to me...
  10:13am
bruce:

Ya gotta play "this land is your land" after GBA!
  10:14am
Yankee Fan:

I need to take a leak.
  10:14am
Cecile:

Annie, make some homemade rehydration drink (online) or drink some unflavored pedialyte. And seriously, after 3 days go to the doc.

Just had an awesome biscotti from Lon Gisland my boss brought me. Oh, man. We need a real Italian bakery out here.

Hi Trouble! Hi, everyone!
  10:15am
Cecile:

Mayor Healy, TELL IT!
  10:16am
patrick:

  10:18am

  10:21am
patrick:

  10:23am
Cecile:

Good annie, glad it's passing. That stuff is nasty, it's sent me to the ER a couple of times.
  10:25am
annie:

i am generally one to let things run a course. and this seems to be a fine example.... just not at all hungry..
  10:31am
Devin:

Hello, every body.
  10:34am
Carmichael:

Good morning Trouble and everyone.
  10:35am

texas scott:

  10:38am
Devin:

Hey Scott,.. so this is what the modern world is like...
  10:38am
Cecile:

this is pretty great, I'm not used to hearing the Staples Singers so secular....and sensual
  10:42am
GP:

Morning Trouble and all....Annie...get better soon. Do what Cecile says.
Postman Paul, the light switch thing has me cracking up...been there.
  10:42am
Parq:

Yes, the NYS Legis is off the front page! Annie, I woud also stress that you shouldn't go too long without consulting the medical-industrialist complex.
  10:45am
Parq:

WSJ (official motto: "We hate government corruption and want it left to the private sector where it belongs") reports that arrests are expected to continue through this afternoon. Newark Airport must be a madhouse right now.
  10:45am
annie:

morning gp- i'm just gonna sit here on the group w bench. drink fluids and relax. the only fluid, unfortunately is seltzer, which i really hate, but it's fluid. and i've had my coffee.. i promise you parq, if i feel this way this afternoon, then i will make that call. my friend joan in oneonta is amazing, and she treats people for free, if need be. so tell me a good website to read the details of this sting.. anyone?
  10:47am
texas scott:

yes Devin,it's not just a dream.it's true

trouble has magical powers.
  10:50am
annie:

speaking of robbery and corruption i saw public enemies yesterday. depp is not too shabby..
  10:50am
Devin:

Scott,.. the kind of powers that make me dance in the middle of my office, seated in a chair.
  10:51am
Carmichael:

That synth line reminds me of 25 or 6 to 4.
  10:54am
texas scott:

yep,that's part of her spell,
to dance quietly in your chair.
  10:58am
Cecile:

I hate Microsoft Word worse than procurement today.
Procurement hooked a sista up, so they are cool.
  10:59am
Cecile:

Trouble - Flight of the Conchords 2nd season CD out October 20.
  11:01am
GP:

Annie..here is the story..don't know much else about it:
http://tiny.cc/youtalkintome
  11:01am
Cecile:

Hey, annie, did Isa start howling at those last notes? ;)
  11:02am
Carmichael:

Cecile, let me know what you need, procurement-wise. I know a guy who knows a guy. I'm just sayin' ...
  11:02am
trouble:

merci bien, cecile. I moved it up to the top of my netflix queue in anticipation of this holy moment
  11:03am
Cecile:

That's the DVD. That's out AUGUST 4!!!!!!!!

The actual CD is going to be released a little later. So no more crappy YouTube versions of season 2 songs for me... and you and you and you
  11:03am
annie:

no, cecile, she cocked her head and did that cute dog thing: huh??.. thanks for the link gp!!
  11:04am
55mm:

Yes Depp is his usual great self but my problem with PE, aside from the unsteady cam, was the soundtrack. Sure there's Billie and that's fine but what's with that modernized electric guitar folkie thing going on in a film showing life in the '30's(not to mention Krall's updated 'Blackbird')? Threw me off somewhat.
  11:05am
Cecile:

55mm I hate non period music in a period film unless it's really unique. Doesn't sound like it is.
  11:07am
FotC:

Trent, you've got in going on.
Not in a gay way, just in a hey I want to say that you're looking okay way.
  11:10am
Parq:

My own opin is that "Public Es" was very good for what it was -- a whoelly conventional, big-budget, big-studio Hollywood ganster movie, breaking zero new ground and offering zero variants or upgrades on the genre's standards. I like strange movies, thank you.

Annie, Google-news "New Jersey" and all of the first hits will be about the arrests.
  11:11am
annie:

55mm, i agree with you!! i thought the song just didn't fit at that speed. just an excuse to get them slowdancing.. and tag it at the end.. pitiful.. and if i recall, i really don't know this for a fact, but wasn't billie holiday kind-of kept out of the mainstream? like radio?
  11:13am
Carmichael:

Speaking of Johnny Depp and wierd film music, I'll always remember Neil Young's super-echo electric guitar soundtrack to Dead Man. Put the icing on the whole bizarro cake.
  11:15am
annie:

great flick, really great flick...i think that was setting a mood as opposed to trying to find "period" tunes for an "historical" film
  11:22am
stingy d:

whats up pies?
  11:24am
Parq:

I suspect that the Krall track and similar tracks were put in simply because they're popular. For every person who says "Diane Krall? Isn't that kind of an anachronism?", there are four or five (or more) who say "Ooh, Diane Krall, I LUVVVV Diane Krall, she's SO-O-O beautiful!" and like that. These guys are running a business, after all.
  11:25am
stingy d:

gotta diane before ya krall. damn fine pie!
  11:28am
lilsis:

Good Morning Trouble, late in joining this morning . Cant get motivated post JB Live
  11:29am
annie:

it's really all about making a movie and paying the actors... etc, etc.... exposure. etc.. publicity, etc.. i'm gonna go nap now.. see y'all later.. for fabio maybe or mid-scott
  11:30am
HotRod:

Good morning, Ms. Trouble. :)
  11:32am
Carmichael:

I have about a 10 second tolerance for Diana Krall. Muzak.
  11:33am
trouble:

hey lil sis! Hey hot rod!
  11:34am
chris:

Really nice music this morning. Thanks...
  11:35am
trouble:

your welcome chris, thanks for the good words.
  11:39am
HotRod:

I find the visual hilarious as well. This is REALLY hilarious: http://videos.nj.com/star-ledger/2009/07/hoboken_mayor_peter_cammarano.html

Oh, and I'm enjoying the mic break background noise.
  11:42am
Carmichael:

I'm hoping that the big NJ bust can happen here as well. We need a big cleanout of our pols.

And I'm thoroughly enjoying little claw's full frontal assault.
  11:48am
stingy d:

oh SLICE! this is my dude! svenoniuos! gospel yeh yeh!! it lives!
  11:51am
Marshall Stacks:

Whatever else you say about her, Diana Krall has good taste in husbands.

The FBI somehow never touched Willie Brown when he was CA Assembly Speaker. I'm not sure if our current legislative crop is corrupt or merely inept.
  11:53am
Carmichael:

Now we're talking. This is the most amazing find for me in a decade. Thanks to FMU for turning me on to Odessa!
  11:54am
stingy d:

i was gonna say basically the same thing carmichael. i have seen odessa a million times and debated buying it 3/4's of those times. but i never did it. now i never see it anymore! in due time tho.
  11:54am
dale:

I never knew this was the bee gees. close your eyes and you'd think it was a poco-ish southern cal band or something like that (better, obviously).
  11:55am
Carmichael:

I finally found it in a used CD place. I petted the velvety cover for a long time, I was so happy.
  12:01pm
Cecile:

lovely show, Trouble!
  4:17am
Erik:

Digging the archive! Thanks for another great show!
