  3:04pm
PMD:

  3:05pm

  3:07pm
cosmic:

i wanna sexu up
  3:10pm
Carmichael:

TMI, Pat ....
  3:11pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

kickass version. Last week or two weeks ago somebody requested the original be played, I think on Irene's show. The request was taunted.
  3:11pm
PMD:

dc pat, there's some construction going on around here that they need your butt for.
  3:13pm
Aunt Ipodes:

PMD --
¡ƃuıɥʇʎɹǝʌǝ puɐ sʇuıod uoıʇɯɐןɔxǝ 'noʎ ǝʌɹǝs oʇ ʎpɐǝɹ sı ǝʇıs uʍop ǝpısdn
  3:14pm
Ike:

Or you could just google any weird character and copy-and-paste into the comments. That works too.
  3:19pm
dc pat:

Carm, TMI=Three Mile Island? I grew up about 10 miles from there.
  3:20pm
GP:

Joining melee voluntarily. Afternoon Irwin.
  3:21pm
GP:

DC PAT,
You must be a Texas fan or maybe Tennessee, or Oklahoma State, or.....just have "issues"
  3:25pm
Carmichael:

Oh good, I don't have to wait until I get home to hear 4 hours of Miley.
  3:25pm
mikey cyrus:

Thanyou for this!
  3:25pm
PMD:

Aunt Ipodes and Ike - thanks! Both would require effort... alas. Perhaps in the future I will indeed do it correctly. Or just not write in Spanish...
  3:27pm
dc pat:

GP: nope, not a Dutch soccer fan either.

Irwin this music is REALLY rockin!
  3:27pm
Taylor Swift:

what am i, chopped liver? well, apparently kanye thinks so.
  3:28pm
Ike:

Wow, this M.C. song actually isn't terrible.
  3:28pm
Chris:

Humph, those kids should have been filling arenas for Amanda.
  3:29pm
dc pat:

I think I'm going to have to wash my brain out now.

wait a minute, Ike, what happened? I thought I could count on you to hate this crap too???
  3:29pm
Carmichael:

Ike, I'd be glad to send you her entire catalog, freshly pried from the hands of my daughters. With no return address.
  3:29pm
Parq:

¿Qué?
  3:30pm
Lizardner Dave:

You know, if you substituted his voice for hers this Miley song would not sound out of place on the last few Bob Mould records. Not sure what that says about either of them. Make yer own conclusions. Or adventures. Whatever.
  3:30pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I wanna be a wannabe singing bitch.
  3:31pm
Kris:

so do I
  3:32pm
guess who :-P:

WORSHIPPPPPPPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  3:32pm
Tiffany:

It's easy, really!
  3:32pm
GP:

DC <Dutch soccer fan>..LOL... good one
  3:33pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

@ Carmichael

I'm glad my daughter is only 10 mos old and will never be "into" Miley, but who knows what new tragedy of a tween pop star will creep up on the horizon by then.
  3:33pm
Parq:

Wait, is the show over already?
  3:34pm
Antípodas:

Que dejaron de fumar nunca ganan.
  3:34pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

an omellete sounds pretty good right now.
  3:34pm
dc pat:

GP: Actually what I do on game day is where my orange underwear, white Levis, and Irish national soccer jersey--I'm a freakin Irish flag MUHFUH!!
  3:34pm
?:

I wanna hear Julia covering 1980s Madonna material!!!!
  3:35pm
Meghan:

wow Irwin... where on earth did you find this?
  3:35pm
Parq:

<who knows what new tragedy> etc.

The way the entertainment industry is run nowadays, I'm sure the top brass at SONY, Disney and Warner all know what pre-teen idol is going to be popular 10 or so years from now.
  3:35pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I like the way she says "Butter"
  3:36pm
7pointedstar:

Best thing to play ever! this kicks ass
  3:36pm
Ike:

LD, I'm not sure I'd go quite THAT far. But you're not totally wrong either. DC Pat, maybe the Terry Reid cock rock smegginess primed me to appreciate some fem-rock. Though the squeals of the pre-teen girls were unbearable and sounded staged too.

Carm -- har har har! I'll pass.
  3:36pm
Julia {singing}:

We get the best. of. both. eggs!
  3:36pm
Carmichael:

The same way Rush Limbaugh says "cabbage".
  3:36pm
devb:

Holy crap, I just watched this video two days ago!

Jiggle*Jiggle*Jiggle

*TOSS*
  3:37pm
The Pan:

Oh Julia, manipulate me, please!
  3:37pm
FYI:

Upside down letters:

  3:37pm
GP:

73,291 fans filling Reliant stadium in H-town to see Miley is hard to argue with.
When she is of age I plan to marry her, and also the Olsen twins, and Taylor Swift ( we shall live in Utah), then I will own you all...<evil Laugh> bwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I'll have more money than even Oprah!
  3:37pm
dc pat:

well my daughter is 8 years old and so far still listens to Beatles, Kinks, John Denver, Ramones, Sham 69, Clash, etc...cross my fingers...
  3:38pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

sounds like a good kid! My boy likes the Linkin Park thing...yechh...
  3:38pm
Lizardner Dave:

Nobody should be afraid of butter. RIP Julia.
  3:39pm
Carmichael:

@Parq: do you think the Spears girls getting knocked up was some kind of country love accident?? Disney is creating the bizarro master race.
  3:40pm
Laura L:

The mellifluous Julia Child! I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon thinking about leathery omelettes now. A beautiful manner of expression with wonderfully aspirated "h"s when she says "hot" or "heat." Touché!
  3:41pm
dc pat:

cheers to butter!
  3:41pm
Mr Kerr's assistant:

Where's that wine?
  3:42pm
dc pat:

galloping gourmet!
  3:42pm
tv chefs:

we help morons who can't fix eggs.
  3:42pm
Meghan:

I did an art piece to this... Had to draw a slide show to accompany the song.... I totally forgot about this!
  3:43pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

respect yr damn eggs.
  3:43pm
GP:

Saw "Julie and Julia" it was pretty good. Julia was nothing but class. Meryl Streep was so go that you forgot it was her you were watching and not Julia...anyway
  3:43pm
Ike:

I love Negativland. Their "Over the Edge Vol. 2: Pastor Dick: Muriel's Purse Fund" was one of the first weird audio things I enjoyed as a kid and helped get me out of top-40 sludge.
  3:45pm
bert feggs:

I smell eggs cooking? Did someone fart?
  3:45pm
PMD:

Parq - show off...
  3:45pm
Thylvethter:

Thuffferin' thucotath, it'th a thilly thymphony!
  3:48pm
Parq:

Ike, I'd love to know, how did you get turned on to Neg'land at that age?
  3:49pm
Laurie:

I just wanted to share that I have a pathological fear of eggs. I can eat baked goods that have eggs mixed into it, sure, but not eggs alone. I don't like the smell, the texture or the taste, no sir.
  3:51pm
dc pat:

you can say "wank" on air?
  3:52pm
chicken fetuses:

yeah, leave us friggin' alone!
  3:52pm
Ike:

Parq, a cool friend introduced me to them, of course. He was one or two years older. He probably heard about them from a guy who supposedly just randomly bought strange-looking stuff at the Sam Goody, or more likely, a whole chain of word-of-mouth. That's how we had to do it in a rural Maryland in the early '90s with no good radio. (This friend also introduced me to Stump, whom I loved, and tried to get me into Skinny Puppy, which didn't do it for me at ALL.)
  3:53pm
John McCabe in LA:

An insanely creepy fan of Miley Cyrus’ was arrested for stalking her, but was then let go due to jail overcrowding
  3:54pm
Laura L:

And now the mellifluous Clientele. Thank you!
  3:54pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

man I hope the Clientele come back stateside soon! It's been two years since I saw them.
  3:56pm
Laura L:

Clientele has a new disc coming out next month, so here's hoping...
  3:56pm
chuck in ct:

hi irwin ........great show as always!!!!
  3:56pm
John Waters:

Laurie - Watch Pink Flamingos and accept...you are the anti-Edie!
  3:58pm
Ike:

My aunt Cookie was in Pink Flamingos.
  3:59pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

wonder whatever happened to Cookie, Edie, and the chicken-loving brother. where are they now?
  3:59pm
dc pat:

no way Ike. What part did she play?
  3:59pm
chuck in ct:

cookie muller i know max her son on the cape
  3:59pm
GP:

My kids have heard just about everything from FMU. They absolutely love the "Corn Weenie" song from Ken's show and it has made the rounds of the junior high....just doing my part to spread the FMU love.
  4:00pm
chuck in ct:

cookie died of aids in 88 edie in 83
  4:01pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

well, that answers that.
  4:01pm
chuck in ct:

i loved cookies books too---met her to in 85
  4:03pm
chuck in ct:

to bad most of the cast is dead now......great films ...
  4:05pm
Ike:

Yeah, Max calls every Xmas.

More on Cookie:
http://tinyurl.com/cookiemu
  4:05pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Pink Flamingoes fucked me up so bad I had to paint "Babs, Babs, when will the Egg Man come?" on my van.
  4:10pm
GP:

Yet again I lean something new on FMU, I guess I need to find some Cookie Mueller movies to check out.

Ike..that is cool
  4:11pm
te:

haven't listened to a word of this so far, not planning on starting now, so could you end this song already?
  4:12pm
PMD:

Wicked Hemlock is wicked! (in a good way)
  4:14pm
Parq:

Te, you really missed something, that track was amazing. I couldn't tune it out, and as an FMU office listerner, I've gotten pretty good at doing that.
  4:16pm
anne:

love the young ones!
  4:17pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Anne, there's usually laws against that sort of thing.
  4:17pm
???:

has anyone ever heard sonic boom talk????
he sounds a LOT like neil...
  4:17pm
Janet H:

hey....
  4:18pm
anne:

harrr harrrr
  4:19pm
Irwin:

'ey wot?!
  4:19pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

you no lika me jokey?
  4:20pm
???:

hey man
  4:20pm
Richard:

Where is Amanda this week?
  4:21pm
Parq:

That Neil track was the best stereo-test record I've ever heard. I love the way Brits pronounce "record", like the second syllable has eight letters.
  4:22pm
NS Andy:

Ahhhh.... Moondog and Strings. So soothing....
  4:27pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

BuzzzzzzKillington.
  4:32pm
GP:

Ha ha..this is good...a new way to hijack websites:

http://kanyelicio.us/
  4:33pm
Davylou:

Loved that Friska! Rip Moondog
  4:48pm
GP:

Joy Division..cool....there was a band in the FMU studios studios yesterday. think they were called "Mattress"...reminded me a lot early of Joy Division.
  4:51pm
PMD:

The obvious: My greatest pet peeve is people who itemize their pet peeves.
  4:51pm
miles:

Ok, I'm here. Now what?
  4:52pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

now listen to Fountains of Wang.
  4:56pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

that slide guitar is really cool, but I'm not convinced they're sincere.
  4:57pm
Parq:

DCE, there are fountains outside the Wang Building on Third Ave? I always wonder, do younger east-siders need it explained to them why that building is called "Wang"?
  5:00pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't remember I owned a book by Cookie Mueller until I went to the website Ike posted and recognized one of the covers.
  5:02pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

This has got to be Karen Carpenter.
  5:03pm
papaya man:

I was thinking the same thing denise.
  5:03pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

If it's really this Kera O'Bryon person, she must be Karen reincarnated. I'm getting goosebumps.
  5:04pm
Lewis:

indeed - that must have been Karen Carpenter...
  5:05pm
Laura L:

What's the story with Kera O'Bryon--a dead ringer for Carpenter if that wasn't her--clue us in!
  5:06pm
Irwin:

Google.
  5:08pm
GP:

This is actually pretty funny.
  5:09pm
Tom Mabe:

Hey, anybody got Albert's phone number handy?
  5:10pm
GP:

Irwin please scan your pet peeve list and post it on your blog.
  5:11pm
Parq:

Yeah, that faux Carpenter was really something. I was sure I was 17 again. But then the guy from next door came in and slapped me until I stopped screaming.
  5:13pm
Laura L:

I Bing'd her instead of Googled, on account of Google being on my pet peeve list. Da-yam, Kera's good.
  5:18pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

I'm not finding much about her via Google, and nothing at all about her music (except for singing the National Anthem at some DC event). Will try Bing.
  5:21pm
Laura L:

http://www.voiceoveruniverse.com/profile/KeraOBryon
  5:24pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Thanks, Laura. I don't see anything about where to get her music, though.
  5:27pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

She does seem to have appeared in a movie about the Rapture . . . . http://www.capalert.com/capreports/gathering.htm
  5:29pm
Laura L:

I didn't either, but you might find something though this fellow. She even opened the festivities for the National Funeral Directors Association. Now, that's gotta be a good time!

annie:

for what it's worth:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=KeraOBryon&search_type=&aq=f
  5:32pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Not only that, but she appears to be the NFDA's favorite singer: she's opened for them four times.
  5:34pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Irwin, where did you get that recording of Kera? Is it from your personal collection?
  5:35pm
thomas:

this is one of the best clare de lune versions ive ever heard!!!!!
  5:36pm
Irwin:

The artist provided it, Denise. Don't know if it's commercially available. I'll inquire.
  5:37pm
jan:

so Isao Tomita and Yann Tomita- related to each other?
  5:37pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

Thank you, Irwin.
  5:38pm
Parq:

@Denise: I'm afraid I'm totally out to lunch on who NFDA is.
  5:40pm
Laura L:

Parq--refers to the National Funeral Directors Association noted above.
  5:40pm
National Funeral Directors Association:

we are the NFDA.
  5:42pm
Not Funny Driving Alcoholically:

No, we are the NFDA.
  5:42pm
National Funeral Directors Association:

...and people are dying to work with us...
  5:49pm
pfapfap:

I liked Shania! I'm old now!
  5:50pm
annie:

godammit, i was enjoying that til you said shania twain.. gotta go wash my ears now.. be right back.
  5:58pm
Stanley:

Hello. Er, look, I'm sorry I'm a bit late. I've had the most ghastly time, all sorts of things cropping up at the last moment.
Er, how are we for time? Have I just got a min—

And so the Universe ended (and also Irwin's show)
  7:56pm
Cathy w/a C:

Center for the Dull...how cool was that? As I was driving my 18 year old college boy son to the Park Slope Barnes and Noble, that song came on. He enjoys obscure radio shows from the low end of the FM dial and we frequently listen to FMU when we're in the car together.
