Listener comments!

  9:07am
SpeedyPete:

Ahh, the ineffable Mr. W filling in for Mr. F. Looking forward to this set list - always enigmatic. Back to you Bob.
  9:09am
BSI:

Aieeee!
iTunes is refusing to stream! This does not bode well! Not on a friggin' WEDNESDAY!!!
I'm descending into MADNESS!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo..........
  9:13am
Jack:

Winamp is not streaming either; very unusual...
"ICY 401 Service Unavailable"...
  9:16am
bobw:

i guess that you'll have to listen via your iphone!
  9:17am
JJZ:

Yeah, I confirm that the MP3 stream seems to be down. Flash stream works though.
  9:17am
BSI:

hm... the 32k MP3 stream works but not my blessed 128k. But I can get 128s from other stations..... so are there gremlins at work at FMU?

Panic is setting in. 32k is like cheap methodone!
  9:20am
jan:

was our leader's absence planned- did I miss an announcement saying so? where is Ken?
  9:20am
Cecile:

Hey, Bob, all!
  9:20am
dc pat:

despite what the experts say, low-fi is still cool. Stop complaining..
  9:21am
still b/p:

And Real Player, which I use to listen to the 128k MP3 stream all da time, is starting with a message that claims it "cannot play this kind of document"...then it plays anyway, only to quit after a few seconds or a minute.
Wednesday is fritz day, hey what a treat,
Wednesday is fritz day, up and down the street...
  9:22am
Janet H:

Hi Fill-in for Ken....but where is Ken?
  9:23am
bobw:

there was a problem with the 128 stream. i fixed it. actually, doron fixed it - i just did what he told me to do!
  9:23am
Cecile:

Oh, jeez.
I used to email correspond with someone in the Laurels. Back when you had to pay for AOL time. That takes me back.
  9:24am
BSI:

yes. no disrespect intended to the great Bob W. All fill-ins are welcome in the house of the lord. Or something.
  9:25am
dc pat:

Hey Bob W., how about some Dead Moon or Pierced Arrows?
  9:25am
Janet H:

is there going to be a new 7sd today?
  9:27am
Cecile:

Maybe take a peek at the 7sd page? They are good at updating.
  9:28am
bobw:

i have no idea where ken is. i don't ask questions - i just salute and say, "yes sir!" when he asks me to fill in. there is no notation on my log to indicate any change in 7SD programming today. nothing on the homepage or special programs page.
  9:29am
dc pat:

...or Heiner Goebbels, this is excellent.
  9:30am
Janet H:

just checked.... next live show is next week
  9:32am
BSI:

I smell a conspiracy!
  9:33am
north guinea hills:

goebbel's 80's stuff (like much stuff avanty gardy) was rather cheesy, but i must admit this is really great.
  9:33am
north guinea hills:

(like much avant gardy 80's stuff, i must clarify)
  9:41am
Cecile:

bobw, your show is exquisitely programmed.
Might you be able to squeeze some Original Sins, Bro JT, etc into the mix? thanks
  9:42am
dc pat:

I second Cecile's request...along with my 9:25 request...
  9:45am
Cecile:

I need to hear the Robert Griffin 1960s US Senate jingle:
"Youth and Experience!"
  9:46am
Cecile:

dude, this Kochalka guy is like a cross between Hampton Grease Band and Atom and His Package
  9:50am
bobw:

ah, requests, requests... it can be really tough to make 'em happen, if i have to go to the main library to find 'em... unless i put on a 10 minute track, or risk dead air.
  9:51am
Cecile:

Do whatever you can or san't and we'll still be digging the show.
  9:52am
Cecile:

can't
  9:54am
Cecile:

THANK YOU
  9:55am
dc pat:

Earth People, I am in the closet
  10:06am
north guinea hills:

nice one, kool keith above (lultz)
  10:09am
Gerald Fnord:

It's weird: I am the mildest of men, but every time I see or hear any 'creative' production from Mr Kochalka, I wish fervently to strangle him. Probably unfair, the cutesy-ness is probably as Darwin made him and has been reinforced by some young woman or man.
  10:14am
Cecile:

I know. I like both Atom and the Hampton Grease Band, Just not together. It's sort of like pouring Ripple into a great Cabernet.
  10:16am
Cecile:

Although the HGB is more like a peyote spritzer, and Atom is more like a drinkable California table wine on the discout table of the wine shop. I need to work on my analogies.
  10:17am
BSI:

aah, it's a perfect day for a peyote spritzer on the deck...
  10:19am
bobw:

i've been a JKS super fan for a long, long time. his american elf website is pretty amusing. btw, in addition to his music and his comics, he's a very talented painter. i've seen some of his "serious" work - very impressive.
  10:24am
Cecile:

that's cool. To each their own.
And I will check out his paintings.
  10:29am
Janet H:

chillin here with my coffee
  10:36am
Lizardner Dave:

Hi Bob - Any chance of hearing your old theme music given that the puck drops this week?
  10:41am
bobw:

the next song, after the break, is gunna be a looooong, very cool french-african jam. during which i'll go get some of the delicious coffee that lizberg made! i'll look for a hockey oriented song! habs vs leafs tomorrow!!! go HABS go!
  10:43am
Cecile:

  10:50am

  10:57am
Janet H:

  10:58am
Cecile:

Bob, great show, off to a boring meeting.
  11:04am
bobw:

i'm not from hochelaga, but i do love the place! and i proudly wear a "westmount" jersey when i play hockey! there's going to be a montreal oriented shop opening up in brooklyn soon that plans on featuring fairmount bagels! imported directly from the mile end! in fact, i think that's what the place is to be called, "mile end."
  11:07am
apc:

only on WFMU will you hear a swing from Dalienst to Cheap Trick!...love it!
  11:12am
BSI:

True 'nuff, apc.
Of course now the Cheap Trick track has put me in the mood for a dose of Sensational Alex Harvey Band.....
  11:14am
Lizardner Dave:

Wow, first Timmy's comes to NYC and soon Montreal bagels in Brooklyn? Wonders will never cease....add the poutine craze that's happening in some pubs and restaurants and I don't even have to make the 6 hour drive anymore unless I want to see the Habs or the Als. (And no, I'm not a Montrealer either but I'm a multiple-times-a-year visitor since 1990).
  11:15am
apc:

BSI....SAHB indeed....Midnight Moses man!
  11:15am
Matt S:

Bob W + Spirit Varnish! Seacoast NH represent!
  11:16am
frenchee:

blasted 128 K itunes has a buzz! I guess it's due to theJersey blackout?

I'm gritting my teeth and staying tuned for Bob W fill-in.
  11:18am
dc pat:

hate hockey but love der duestche Musik, ja!
  11:18am
Listener Dave from NH:

I brought back bagels from Fairmount the last time I was up in Montreal. I wasn't blown away by them, but I was spoiled by growing up minutes from Sonny's Bagels in South Orange, NJ (which is where everyone really should be getting them from).
  11:19am
doug in DC:

The first Octoberfest beers actually show up July 31st. That's when most of the German breweries ship them.
  11:20am
Lizardner Dave:

Thanks Bob!
  11:28am
bobw:

matt s.? i think i know who matt s. might be! hey matt!
  11:29am
Ike:

Frenchee, yeah, I think the blackout dropped all kinds of gremlins into everything. The AAC+ stream is still crackly. Fortunately the Ogg stream sounds great.
  11:48am
doron:

will take a look at that ike. Thought we fixed that.
  11:48am
Matt S:

Nelories?? Wow man, that's spectacular.
  11:49am
apc:

Hearing Vic...HNIC theme....make me think of Canadian chanteuse Mary Margaret O'Hara! Any kickin around?
  11:56am
Ike:

Thanks Doron! Yeah I think it was OK yesterday but I guess it came back.
  11:58am
bobw:
