Bill in Goshen:

I'm guessing it's either Ritalin or Viagra. I'll go with Ritalin.
  7:42pm
depilatrix:

OK Bill, I'll take Viagra for 1000.
  7:44pm
depilatrix:

But there are a lot of diabetics and heart patients also so it could also be insulin or coumadin
  7:44pm
Jeff M:

It'd make for a good story if the most-prescribed drug were one of the willie-stiffeners, but that's probably not the case. Doctors seem to hand out Lipitor like candy, to anyone who's had a fatty ham sandwich or is over 30. That might be in the running.

Oh, and don't confuse me with that other Jeff, the cranky one.
  7:46pm
miketp:

the cranky one thats hilarious
  7:48pm
trs:

I'm looking on a site that says in 2005 it was Paxil, followed by a mix of pain-killers / anti-depressants.

For 2008/9 - I'd guess it's in the pain-killer/pain-numbing family
  7:48pm
rick:

Well, I cheated and went to the web. In a 2005 study Paxil was the most prescribed drug in the U.S. And a 2007 CDC study asserted that antidepressants were the most prescribed type of drug, but I don't believe that study focused on the single most prescribed drug.

However, if everyone listened to Monica's show, there would be no need for antidepressants, especially if they listened to that track by L.Pierre, another unknow gem unearthed by Monica, great job as always!

I hope I haven't stifled debate with my research
  7:49pm
CB1:

I'm enjouing this second set immensley. Thanks!
  7:50pm

  7:58pm
Fmuidiot:

Yeah, I know I'm early, but it is that time of year. My thinking is , never take non recreatioal drugs. That stuff can do so serious harm. If it aint fun, don't do it!

Jeff M:

Just last night we were having dinner with a friend who's a doctor. He was getting really worked up about how willfully ignorant people seem to be about vaccinations these days. H1N1 is expected to account for many excess deaths in the next year or so, and the vaccine should be effective. There's no reason to fear the injected, killed-virus version of the vaccine unless you're allergic to eggs or have previously developed the rare Guillain-Barré syndrome.

There's a lot of stoopid out there these days.
