Mon. Jan 13th, 9am - Noon:
Surface Noise Live from Lincoln Center with Special Guest Don Fleming
(More info...)
Tune in on Monday morning, January 13th, for a special remote broadcast of Surface Noise from Lincoln Center's Library of the Performing Arts. Joe and his special guest Don Fleming will be broadcasting live from the Bruno C. Walter Auditorium, playing records they have selected from the Performing Arts library's vast Music and Recorded Archival Sound Collection. Joe and Don have delved deep to fish out rare and interesting music to share, hopefully playing some things not heard before on WFMU.
Hey, Joe! Good morning! Happy Halloween! Happy Daylight Savings!
3:12am
Joe:
Hey, Sue! Good morning! It's REALLY 4 o'clock, so it's not as early as it seems, right?
3:17am
Sue:
oh God, I'm so confused. it's too early to tell! you know, i set my alarm for 3am and then the clock changed to 2am so i fell back asleep. i should have figured you had an extra hour to your show! i can't believe you've been on for an hour already! i know, i'm a dork :{
3:20am
Joe:
Aw, Sue, I'm more than flattered that you set your alarm to hear my show! You are the greatest listener ever!
3:23am
Sue:
aw geez, thanks :) i was just trying to keep you company. it's so damn early! i don't know how you do it! what an interesting set so far. i wish i'd heard the Halloween set. This daylight savings set is really cool. I had no idea there were so many of these. Very cool!
3:25am
Joe:
Thanks, Sue--I guess there are a lot of songs about time out there, but I think I'm already getting tired of looking for them! Maybe a couple more....
3:29am
Sue:
well at least I didn't miss your Single File segment. that's always cool.
3:36am
Joe:
Thanks, Sue! I have to figure out when I'm going to do it...I think probably in an hour or so!
3:41am
Sue:
Nice, I'll try to stay up with you! I can't believe you're doing this for an extra hour! That's kinda fun, isn't it? Or are you exhausted?
3:43am
Joe:
No, I don't mind. The usual overnight shift is 4 hours, so this is standard practice for the Monday through Friday folks. I kinda like the extra hour. But maybe ask me in another 2 hours if I feel the same!
4:41am
Bas, NL:
Good morning Joe! I just tuned in at a leisurely 10:30 AM winter time here in the Netherlands... first time listener; and me likes what i hear! ;)
Best wishes,
Bas
4:42am
Joe:
Hey, Bas! Welcome! Glad you're tuned in. What's the weather like over there? I was over there in September a few years ago and it was already pretty cold!
4:49am
Bas, NL:
Hi Joe! Well, i think the weather is pretty late this year and it's like a regular September at the moment: Light gray-ish and temperature's in the upper 50's Fahrenheit.
I make it excellent weather for staying in and listening radio ;)

Joe:
Sounds nice! We had a rainy, rainy Halloween here. Kind of appropriate, though! Very grey. Oddly warm, though!
5:31am
Bas, NL:
Hi Joe,
Ahh.. right! Sounds pretty bad to have a rainy Halloween! Halloween is not celebrated here in the Netherlands...
Bas,
5:32am
Joe:
Too bad! It's kind of fun to see all the kids walking around in costumes. And I like pumpkins!
5:39am
filip:
Great music!!! Hello to everyone from Warsaw on the Day of the Dead... Making my way to the cemetery.
5:40am
Joe:
Welcome, filip! Give my best to, uh, everybody!
5:44am
filip:
...and I will!
