  3:21am
Bill Mac:

Michael and Birgit
  3:29am
Joe:

Oh man the Chambers Brothers are blowing my mind yet again.
  3:30am
Bill Mac:

Thanks for jumping in Michael! Speaking of Christmas here's a heads up - Bob Dylan has finally released a Christmas album. Sounds good, but you have been warned!
  3:32am
Joe:

This LP is apparently also long out of print and is the only way to hear the full version of this (Like "Time has Come", there's a short one that's been comped up). So i'll abusing this archive, repeatedly until I can somehow get my hands on it.
  3:41am
Joe:

I will defer to your knowledge, sir - the internet has lied to me before!
  3:43am
Bill Mac:

I actually found it on a music blog if that helps.
  3:52am
rricci:

LIES ON THE INTERNET?????? I'm surprised...lol
\
  3:54am
Bill Mac:

Porn too.... or so I've heard....
  3:54am
Joe:

awesome! Thanks for the alert. I'll be rocking this all day tomorrow. Ah, technology.

PS the Undisputed Truth are amazing and a perfect Chambers Brothers companion. I'll never forget the first time I saw that cover of their self-titled LP. I was worried it was too awesome to be real.

PPS- I JUST picked up this comp yesterday. It was going to be a gift but I'm probably gonna keep it. Check out the booklet! It's amazing.
  3:55am
Bill Mac:

It is... Great pics and a glut of information.
  3:56am
rricci:

Seriously, what song by The Chamber Brothers are youtalking about? Time Has Come Today? I may still have the LP with the red label
  3:56am
M:

  3:58am
Bill Mac:

Hiyuh M! Hey rricci!
  3:59am
rricci:

  4:01am
rricci:

Hi Bill Mac. Enjoying the selection here. :)
  4:02am
Bill Mac:

Thanks! I'm trying...
  4:04am
rricci:

Believe me!!!! It shows.
  4:06am
Chris:

Just switched on the computer in the office in England. Good morning !
  4:13am
Bill Mac:

Yo Chris! Get to work!!!!
  4:14am
rricci:

California here
  4:16am
fbaube:

Hey Charlie Electric rocks
  4:16am
rricci:

I have been on the Net for 13 years and I still find it incredible how we can listen to radio worldwide. I hate listening to regular corporate owned radio
  4:20am
fbaube:

Oh oops that was Shaky Jake! Yeah corporate radio is pretty lamous. Blame Clear Channel for a lot of it, they are EVIL.
  4:23am
r:

CC is trying to destreoy radio. Thank God for college stations (and the Net). With the Net, I have ALL the music I need. In fact, I feel I have the world's biggest CD collection with me
  4:26am
rricci:

Is the female on this song the Lead singer for Romero Void?
  4:29am
Bill Mac:

Right on! People don't understand when I tell them I do this for free. I'd kcut my ears off if I ended up being pressing a button to play a set of preselected top 40 dreck.
  4:30am
Bill Mac:

Sorry bout not throwing the clue up there on time. It's not the girl from Romeo Void. Tin Huey and Patty Donahue eventually morphed into the Waitresses
  4:32am
rricci:

What you're doing, Bill, is beinga *TRUE* DJ. The others are simply button pushers.....a job a monkey could do
  4:33am
Bill Mac:

I really can't imagine that anyone is doing that job to tell you the truth.
  4:34am
fbaube:

The Waitresses, yeah! I DJ in some local places and I do it for beer (not pay) cos ya gotta spread the good toonz! Commercial is bad, yeah I guess we're all commies
  4:34am
rricci:

That's where I heard that voice before, but it still sounds like Romeo Void's lead singer. Kept expecting to hear her bust out doing "Never Say Never"
  4:38am
Bill Mac:

There's nothing wrong with pandering a little. People wanna hear certain things but it should still leave you some to try and hook them with something they never heard
  4:39am
rricci:

The TOP in Top 40 stands for Terribly Over-Played
  4:41am
fbaube:

Absolutely. Always give them something they can connect to, and then sneak up on'em with something fantabulous
  4:43am
fbaube:

Last I heard, US college radio stations are a dying breed. But heck, that's how FMU got started. I keep reading tho that low-power FM has a chance to grow -- hyperlocal stuff
  4:47am
fbaube:

Uh-oh, Chongo! It's time for Danger Island!
  4:50am
Joshua K:

They have The Man Who Fell to Earth on Blu-Ray Criterion edition, its pretty nice lookin.
  4:54am
Bill Mac:

The movie? I actually saw that when it was released. Weird little movie. Wasn't that Bowies' acting debut?
  4:56am
(mta) Tony:

I'll tell ya in a second, Bill. Meanwhile, this whole show of yours has been "fantabulous."
  4:57am
Bill Mac:

Thanks, Tony,
how did that happen?
  5:01am
Joshua K:

Looks like that was his motion picture debut, at least where he is credited.
  5:04am
(mta) Tony:

No, Bill, it appears his debut was "The Image" in '67, one episode of "Theatre 625" in '68, and "The Virgin Soldiers" in '69, but he was uncredited with his performance. Then, he did "The Looking Glass Murders" (a TV movie) in '70, and THEN he was in "The Man Who Fell To Earth" in '76. This was the info I got from IMDB. How did WHAT happen, Bill?
  5:08am
Bill Mac:

The good show.... it has been fun to do that's for sure.... wow 1976, I guess that's right, just seems older than that.
  5:12am
él-g:

ok nice I discovered this trex track, drum sound is amazing!
  5:21am
(mta) Tony:

Here's the link to the Bowie film info page: http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000309/

Truly a great show, Bill. The time you took to put it together is appreciated by many.
  5:23am
fbaube:

I remember the classic Lance Link line: "So, what's your theory, Darwin?" When I was about ten my folks bought me a Lance Link coloring book, it was so cool :-D
  5:27am
Bill Mac:

Thanks Tony, for the compliment and the link, and I'll trade you my Magilla Gorilla/Yogi Bear 45 for President for your coloring book, fb
  5:29am
M:

the 60's and early 70's were the best time for kids saturday morning programming
  5:31am
Bill Mac:

I totally agree M...
  5:32am
fbaube:

Roger Ramjet, he's our man! Hero of our nation. For his adventures just be sure to stay tuned to this station!
  5:34am
Bill Mac:

You could be tapping into something we'll never be able to get out of here
  5:35am
fbaube:

When you find yourself in danger, When you're threatened by a stranger, Ca-a-all!... for Super Chicken! (cluck cluck cluck cluck) Ca-a-all!... for Super Chicken! (ba-GAAACK!)
  5:35am
(mta) Tony:

Reveal your age by naming your early cartoon: mine's "Colonel Bleep." Anyone go back THAT far?
  5:37am
(mta) Tony:

I didn't think so...
  5:38am
fbaube:

Earliest cartoon? Felix the Cat. I was 4 or 5. I have no conscious memories of it, but I watched an episode a year ago and I knew every single scene(!!) It really tapped into something deep. Not my reptile brain, but my Felixbrain.
  5:45am
Bill Mac:

It was probably in reruns but I do remember Krazy Kat ("Oh ignatz, you little rascal"). Colonel bleep huh? I'd say it rings a bell, but there were other cartoons featuring what was sposed to be an English colonel... I was a big fan of Felix the cat too
  5:48am
fbaube:

Oh and Space Ghost and Clutch Cargo on Captain Kangaroo! Has everyone seen the "new" "Space Ghost" series? It's a gas, they tape interviews and then give them the "What's Up, Tiger Lily?" treatment. The one with Björk is hilarious
  5:48am
M:

Beany and Cecil, Touché Turtle, Wally Gator and the show that you could use a magic screen on your tv ... what was the name of that show
  5:50am
(mta) Tony:

For anyone interested, "Colonel Bleep" was an interstellar traveler with a group of 2 buddies. It was the FIRST COLOR cartoon. It used STILL images with accompanying spoken dialog, the drawings changed about every 5 seconds to reflect the dialog. It was a GREAT cartoon but faded into obscurity with the advent of moving cartoons. This was happening around 1957. Read about it here: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0280246/
  5:54am
(mta) Tony:

From their earth headquarters on Zero Zero Island, Colonel Bleep, Squeek and Scratch battled intergalactic villains such as Doctor Destructo. The audio for the beginning opening sequence (with its time countdown from "ten, nine, eight,...to "blast off...") is perfect for an fmu DJ's use to open a show with.
  5:56am
fbaube:

In Heaven there is no beer. That's why we drink it here.
  6:00am
(mta) Tony:

If you remember Crusader Rabbit and Beany and Cecil, and you used to get up at 5:30 A.M. on Saturday mornings, you'll surely remember the Colonel! Along with his caveman pal Scratch he acted as a cartoon intergalactic sentinel patroling the immediate universe, keeping the peace. It utilized the standard early 60's minimalist animation technique with narration to help you follow along. This is the cartoon Davey and Goliath would watch while taking time off from theorizing about the "G" man.

I can remember staying up until all the t.v. stations would go off the air, the latest always being WCBS in N.Y. after the Late Late Show, and then coming back on within 30 minutes with the Star Spangled Banner, Sunrise Semester, and finally Colonel Bleep. This signaled the begining of the most holy time of the week for a 6 year old - Saturday morning cartoons!

If you can relate to any part of this story, than you'll also enjoy this video. Don't forget Supercar, Thunderbirds, Astroboy, Gigantor, and Tobor - the Eighth Man! Good day, Bill!
