Mon. Jan 13th, 9am - Noon:
Surface Noise Live from Lincoln Center with Special Guest Don Fleming
(More info...)
Tune in on Monday morning, January 13th, for a special remote broadcast of Surface Noise from Lincoln Center's Library of the Performing Arts. Joe and his special guest Don Fleming will be broadcasting live from the Bruno C. Walter Auditorium, playing records they have selected from the Performing Arts library's vast Music and Recorded Archival Sound Collection. Joe and Don have delved deep to fish out rare and interesting music to share, hopefully playing some things not heard before on WFMU.
Hi, Joe! Wow, you're on AND it's daylight! How does it feel? Is it blinding?
3:08pm
Joe:
I can't see! I can't see! How are you, Sue?
3:10pm
Sue:
Doing good. Enjoying this wind and rain. It's pretty cool. Very blustery. How were your holiday celebrations?
3:12pm
Joe:
Pretty good! No one got shot, anyway. Somebody gave me a Partridge Family CD, so you KNOW all is good.
3:13pm
Sue:
Awesome, you must have been a good boy this year. Nothing good like that in my stocking.
3:15pm
Joe:
I'm a good boy every year. :) What did you have in your stocking, or should I not ask?
3:17pm
Sue:
Well, al good things actually, things I really needed and wanted, I have to say. So I can't complain. Hoildays were good overall. Got some cash, some girly stuff, can't go wrong with that.
3:18pm
Sue:
It's always nice when people give you good records, too.
3:18pm
Joe:
Cash and girly stuff--sounds like a recipe for happiness to me!
3:22pm
Joe:
I don't know if everybody would consider a Partridge Family record "good," but hey, I guess that's what makes me me.
3:24pm
T:
You nonconformists are all alike
3:26pm
Joe:
Hee hee--Doesn't somebody want to be wanted??
3:31pm
t:
Don't you want somebody to love?
3:31pm
Joe:
Just like me!
3:32pm
genericPlacebo:
eye want U 2 want me...
3:33pm
t:
OK, where do you want to hook up?
3:34pm
t:
Ill bring some cash and a few girly things
3:34pm
Joe:
T, meet genericPlacebo.
3:35pm
Sue:
lol... awesome, i'm there
3:36pm
t:
Sorry but I am into geriatric placebos
3:37pm
Sue:
Damn, so it's exclusive?
3:37pm
t:
Well, send me your photo
3:39pm
t:
Its geriatric rock
3:39pm
Sue:
Ok, but I'm not geriatric
3:40pm
t:

3:41pm
t:

3:42pm
Igor:
Hey Joe,
Should we listen to "I'm Your Man" by Richard Hell today?
Cheers!
Nice tunes!
3:42pm
Parq:
Dang, Joe, is this you? I didn't have the puter on, so I didn't know until your first mike break. What a great surprise to catch your show and still not be suffering from insomnia. Love that Move track you played lead-off; possibly my favorite of theirs. Hat's off to ya!
3:44pm
t:
Geriatric boy bands
3:45pm
Joe:
Hey, Parq! Nice to hear from you! I know you're not usually on the graveyard shift, so thanks for checking in.
3:48pm
t:
Radar Love
3:50pm
Joe:
Hey, Igor--Maybe I'll slip on that Richard Hell later on. Thanks for the suggestion.
3:53pm
Joe:
Whoops!
3:54pm
Sue:

3:56pm
t:
He didn't mean to. It was an accident.
3:57pm
t:
Did you get any on your face?
3:58pm
Jack:
Hey Joe! Great to hear you. Hope you're having good holidays. Come back to the Day Side!
4:03pm

Hey, Jack! Thanks for the nice words. Hey, Annie!
4:12pm
Parq:
Hmm, I do believe that someone's confused K-Tel and Ronco.
4:12pm
frenchee:
Joe, it sounds terrific there at Surface Noise Central. Rock on.
4:13pm
Joe:
Thanks, Frenchee! It's pretty weird being here in the daylight, I have to say.
4:14pm
frenchee:
yes, Parq, I think you're right. K-tel stuck to drecky music...no pocket fishermen or pickle skinners.
4:15pm
Rob:
Great tracks, killing this crap decade right
4:15pm
frenchee:
Wait, Jersey has daylight? I'm comin' over. All gloomy and slush here in Brooklyn.
4:16pm
Joe:
Ha ha! Good point--I should start to feel right at home in about another half-hour when it's ink-black outside.
4:18pm
Rob:
Yo Joe play some Sonics wont you?
4:19pm
Joe:
Hey, Rob--I'll see what I can find!
4:19pm
Rob:
Word!! thanks
4:24pm
Diana:
If not for the asterisk, just from listening, I would have guessed the Caretakers of Deception were a 60 garage rock band -- cool sounding track!
4:25pm
Joe:
Hey, Diana--My "new" actually refers to it being a new CD. It's definitely old garage! I'll talk about it a bit when I come back on.
4:27pm
Igor:
"Oooooooooh noooooooooo"
Amazing! Thanks for catch my sugestion!
4:28pm
