First of all you have a great show. Second, as a 59 year white boy, I really dont relate to the seventeen year old thing. However you may be exactly right.

FMU idiot:
No! I cant think of anyone under 40 (I wanted to say 30) Yeh there are excptions. I can liston to this all night a 17 year old would have bailed 25 min ago.

Martha:
Hi there -
Thanks for the good words. As far as the 17yr old thing goes it isn't about what you actually would want to listen to when you were 17 but about that yearning for a visceral, emotional connection that only good music can give you and which when you are younger can form such a strong bond. If that makes sense...

all iknow is fmu is a challenging listening experience that works for me for many years . giving the unknowns some air time.

9:53pm
Colorado Springs:
Hi Martha,
Thanks for the cool toonces so far...and yet to come. Heck when I was 17 I listened to an awful lot of JIMI..so far ahead of his time. Methinks he would enjoy your playlist and really Dig Shackleton.
Peaces and Thanks

FMU idiot:
Yeah I kinda got that. I grew in the 60's and 70's, so this is what I liston to. No, not the old stuf, not that there is anything wrong with that. I love the old tunes. I love the new tunes beter. As a perent I try to expose my 20 something kids and there friends To WFMU, WFUV and other progresive radio stations. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. You might be suprised as to how many really get it.
10:18pm
Leo:
hey martha, really fine selection.
i think that 17 year old feeling has to do with rock 'n' roll, a different experience of what's now known as rock (just music).
thanks for replying my e-mail
=)
10:22pm
Igor:
Hey Martha. Can you play Kevin Ayers? Ex-bassist of Soft Machine, you know.
11:06pm
FMU idiot:
I tried to mentor a couple of really good collage DJ's. It didn't work and one turned on me. I should have left them alone. Yeah well if I had to do again I still would have givin it a try. In the chance their here, Ben and Tim you still rock.
11:14pm
FMU idiot:
I'm kinda waiting for a "wholly crap" "I love you man" But, that's not likely to happen. Soo....
12:19am
goo:
hate to say it but i always thought excepter was boring. still do.
12:40am
FMU idiot:
Ya know I really didn't want to get in to it tonight and its definatly time to go to bed, but what kinda screen name is goo? That's something you scrape off your shoe when you step on it on the subway platform. And this is not borring.
12:47am
FMU idiot:
Alright. Times up. I'm out. Good night.
12:49am
Martha:
Hi there -
Thanks for all the comments - and no fighting, no biting - it is Yuletide after all. Next week we will also likely return to our slightly peppier programming!

Ike:
I am mesmerized by this Necks track.
1:11am
matheus:
I guess we won't hear no The Fall tonight =(
1:17am
Martha:
Yes, this track is pretty amazing, most of their stuff is - and maybe next week for some Fall
1:20am
Igor:
Where's my Kevin Ayers song? IT'S MY BIRTHDAY, C'MON. HOLLY JESUS.
1:27am
Martha:
Is it Holly or Holy Jesus - both seem OK to me - but you should have mentioned it was your birthday earlier for added incentive!
1:36am
matheus:
when you said you were going to do lenghty tracks I didn't expect THAT.
