That's the track I was talking about when I said hard to be unhappy during any version. Seemed to spark an inadvertent thread 'bout a whole 'nother song that ain't a personal happiness link at all! No, sir!
  12:15pm
Parq:

Was that recitation from a movie? I really enjoyed that!
  12:17pm

Hey Parq, yeah that was a PBS documentary, can't remember what it was called, just remember being hypnotized by the guy's recitation - prolly pretty to easy to figure out, I got the name right

its called 'alone in the wilderness'. my brother just gave me a burnt copy recently. they used to air it all the time on our local pbs affiliate in philly. but i havent seen it for a while.
mr. proenekke went out to the alaskan wilderness with a camera and a tripod and filmed himself building a cabin from scratch...then he lived in that cabin for 30 years. amazing.

Chris:

I've never seen anyone as happy as Dick Poenneke when he receives his wool socks.
  2:24pm
Ike:

Don't worry, I recently had a DJ nightmare where I blew about six segues and played several minutes of dead air. I woke up sweating, so relieved that it wasn't real. And I haven't even been a DJ for several years.
  2:29pm
numbatwombat:

the mighty sonic boom! it feels warmer already!
  2:34pm
raga:

my favorite dj nightmare: coming in to find the station completely fucking rearranged - equipment, library, everything - and the dj you're relieving throws on a short track and says, "alright, i'm outta here. see ya later."
  2:35pm
Cecile:

that was my experience far too often, raga.
  2:37pm
numbatwombat:

  2:37pm
Chris:

I'll bet ya these kids grew up to be conservatives.

  2:39pm
raga:

Cecile: fortunately for me that really was only a dream.
  2:44pm
BSI:

NARWHALS UBER ALLES!!!!
  2:46pm
numbatwombat:

scott - good set today! must venture out into wilderness. please tell donna her gateway to joy works! my kitty and i will be listening.
bsi - narhwals vs. u-boats: the final chapter.
  2:46pm
Cecile:

raga - that was a reality. As was the time when I had to work a brand new work-study job at 8:00 a.m., I was doing 11 p.m.-2 a.m.. At 3 a.m. the backup DJ didn't show. I called the station manager and all the subs and they were all out of town. That's why my husband (who had no radio experience and no FCC license) played swing records for three hours until the 6 a.m. DJ came in. Ah, good times.

And nobody could say anything. I was a loyal DJ, but not a loyal "losing my job on the 1st day" DJ.
  3:00pm
john Greene:

I manage an NPR affiliate in S.L.C. Ut. yours is only station on my web list. Started out in community radio: love your format, not all of course, you'd have to be nuts. Started as radio vol. hosting elect. music show; this stuff today is really something...I know you know how lucky you are to have a station that can support such killer diversity. Keep it up. John
