Don (trip dub):

Sort of a gravelly Annie Lennox. Did Dave Stewart produce this?
  8:15pm
Jeff M:

On Sarah Vaughn... dunno if I've told this here, but the one time I got to hear her live (at the Blue Note), she was stuffed to bustin' into a little bright-red sequinned cocktail dress, and I'm pretty sure up on some serious heels. She wasn't a little slip of a woman at that time. But she rocked it with sass. And of course that voice...

The band was a bunch of veteran jazz players, and one little (twentysomething?) white kid on the piano -- but he wasn't out of his element. Played with virtuosic subtlety, had the taste never to call undue attention to himself when he was accompanying, but an amazing sense of timing. I made sure to check Tower for his records later. You may have heard of him since -- name of Bill Charlap.
  8:19pm
Monica:

Thanks much, Renee Z!,,,Scott, you're too sweet,....Don, that explains it!!....Irwin and Paul, could you die from that version??....me too, jackie, totally sloshed...Frenchee, sing out Louise!!...Hi BC, it's "White Sheets, Tight bed" by Mastretta....Bosco, I know honey....
