Listener comments!

  12:05pm Carmichael:

It can become very popu-lah with the rekkid buying public ...
  12:06pm Frank:

Finally! Noon on Tuesday!
  12:07pm Cecile:

SLOAN
  12:08pm Cecile:

this is a really underrated disc by them.
  12:09pm north guinea hills:

I was thinking, this better be Sloan!!!!, and it was!. Then I realized I already have the LP.
  12:09pm north guinea hills:

I prefer the predecessors to "Pretty Together".
  12:10pm Cecile:

I saw them on that tour. Awesome. Never managed to see them again. I hope too, though!
  12:10pm Carmichael:

For a second, I thought it was Joe Jackson's "Pretty Girls". Do you have anything like that, Joe?
  12:11pm Joe B:

Hi everbody! Thanks for listening, commenting and of course pledging! and if you didn't pledge, we'll still take your money! and if you can't pledge, well, thanks for listening and perhaps spread the word to someone who can pledge!
  12:13pm Joe B:

i have to say as a longtime Sloan fan, the last two albums are my favorites, along with One Chord To Another. But I have been getting back into Pretty Together lately!
  12:14pm Carmichael:

I pledged numerous times, and actually won something on Daniel Blumin's show. There's a 1st time for everything.
  12:23pm north guinea hills:

"One Chord to Another" is one of my all time favorite records. I also got the party disc that came out at the same time where they meld Canned Heat's "On the Road Again" w/ Stereolab's "Transona Five". Brillant!!!. I saw them maybe 9 years ago, it was awesomeness!!!!
  12:24pm north guinea hills:

I think most of us regulars pledged often and beyond our means. My gf guessed how much I pledged, and she actually wasn't pissed, b/c she loves WFMU!
  12:26pm dc pat:

..I still have to break the final pledge amount to the wife...
  12:27pm Frank:

Man, really dug that Clams tune!
  12:29pm dc pat:

echo and the bunnymen have a roller coaster tune too--pretty rockin.
  12:33pm Cecile:

I pledged over my mouse pledge, too. Actually won two things this year!
  12:43pm dave p.,uk:

hi joe, have you any news on the new SWINGIN NECKBREAKERS album?cant find it anywhere, been delayed or something? still lovin the show, still the best.thanks
  12:47pm north guinea hills:

I almost got to double mouse this year, but it was only over 3 pledges, so i won nothing (it's ok, i've won many of tix over the years). I thought I should pledge as much since I have a shitty 9-5 job. before I did, I was sp broke that all i could pledge was $15.
  12:51pm ?:

I don't have cable or a dish or any of that and I don't miss it at all. The extra scratch goes to WFMU and netflx and I'm content as ever. It actually makes me happy that I don't have cable :)
  12:56pm Dean Rispler:

Joe! Another great show as per usual. Got The Naked Heroes picture disc in today. One will be coming your way soon!
  12:57pm north guinea hills:

yeah, i have no cable or dish either.... WFMU is much better usage of $$$
  12:59pm Frank:

I'm not really sure why I'm wasting money on cable still...
  1:22pm dc pat:

I have basic cable but I call up my cable company every 6 months and yell at them and they give me a ton of channels for free. Sometimes I have to watch tennis/soccer/cycling.... Actually Cecile told me about the yelling thing.
  1:24pm Cecile:

I have to yell at them again. I could use some free HBO.
  1:26pm Frank:

If it wasn't for my unfortunate need to watch hockey and baseball, cable would have been gone a loonng time ago.
  1:27pm Cecile:

I need to watch police procedural documentaries and dog shows. And RuPaul's Drag Race. That's why I still have the dish. And it's still cheaper than cable. :/
  1:33pm dc pat:

maybe I'll cancel cable after the World Cup and Tour de France this year...
  1:33pm Cecile:

Mark is amazing. He played with a bad foot, half in the bag with painkillers with Los Strait jackets once live. Love him.
  1:34pm PMD:

Yeah, I'm not telling my bf, but figured I should give a lot now since I'll be out of a job soon...
  1:40pm Primitive Sound System:

Thanks for the platter of Clams Joe!
  1:49pm dc pat:

hey, I cut my own hair, only wear fmu shirts, don't drive a car, and don't eat meat so I can give some cash to WFMU
  1:51pm PMD:

When I'm out of a job I'll sell my plasma to give money to WFMU.
  1:54pm CheriPi:

DC Pat-we're the same person! I drink store brand tea in lieu of schmancy coffee shops too.
  1:55pm CheriPi:

Refilling one's waterbottle from the tap is also more money for WFMU- people should try it.
  1:58pm dc pat:

I just have to give up beer and then I can pledge lots more.....AHAHAHAHAHA!! ....just kidding, *sniff*....

yeah, don't buy bottles of water...
  2:00pm Nate:

Hey Joe, what is your little talk-over diddy? Sounds like it's from a video game or something? It gets stuck in my head every time, I've gotta know what it is.
  2:02pm David Shortell:

In an SCTV episode, didn't Joe Flaherty portray Paul Revere, still in his Raider uniform playing "Kicks" at a dump called the Bottom of the Barrel?
  2:04pm Listener Jumpy:

Thanks, Joe!
I really dug Shannon & the Clams and the Ides.
  2:06pm ?:

you jest, but when I was unemployed several years ago and things were bleak, I said F it and I serial pledged like a lunatic. I had no choice but to get a job. I figured , I'll share and maybe my luck will turn around. Well it worked, and so I always look at donating to WFMU as good luck.
  2:06pm Nate:

Thanks Joe!
  2:07pm Cecile:

I love the deep tracks, Joe!
  2:08pm Rubble:

but I'm not advocating giving up beer! Unless you are trying to lower your tolerance!
  2:13pm Joe M.:

The Sly is really excellent. Thanks, Joe!
  2:14pm Corey:

Was that Nina Simone backing on Jane is a Groupee?
  2:17pm Nelson:

Thanks for the early 'Sly and the Family Stone'. If I hadn't heard it announced on air I would've had to guess who was playing, it's been so long since I've heard these cuts. Any 'Little Sister' or 'Betty Davis' coming up?
  2:18pm Walt:

Sly Stone, Marching bands, oh man WFMU is worth every penny of my marathon dollar. Rock on Joe!
  2:41pm dc pat:

Brimstone Howl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9balIX0grKQ&feature=player_embedded
  2:43pm Joe B:

No mention of Nina Simone in the credits but I can't say for sure if it was her or not!
  2:44pm PMD:

I just got an announcement about that Graham Parker album from Bloodshot... I may need to get.
  2:46pm Fritz:

Yeah BBQ. Great tune. Great show by the way and greetings from Germany.
  2:51pm Tornado:

Hey Joe, Love the show, as always but always extra
special when you play the Recruders from Satan Island.
Thanks, Tornado
  2:52pm seang:

Benny Joy!
  2:55pm Cecile:

Joe, you're knocking it out of the park today.
  2:57pm tom:

your show today is so good, I wish I had the cash to donate AGAIN!
