Listener comments!

  11:07pm
Danne D:

Good Evening Funk Fans :)
Good Evening EFD :)
Happy Post Marathon!

Evan - I hear rumors that you are now the new drummer for Bon Jovi. Response?
  11:11pm
Kat:

Hello EFD! Uncanny - I have had this song in my head for three days. Didn't know WFMU took psychic requests.
  11:11pm
pottymcpopperson:

please enjoy.
  11:14pm
Sybil:

OMFG I want to say good evening to you ALL but Evan has overtaken me so.... Happy birthday to me. I only wish I could pledge more to WFMU today. Come to think of it, it doesn't matter if it's a pledge, does it? As long as we live up to our obligations...

Who will give me the birthday gift of my dreams?
  11:18pm
Danne D:

Evan will? :)

Anyhow, Happy Birthday Sybil!!! :D

If folks somehow left the planet during the last 2 weeks or otherwise weren't around you can still pledge on the front page of the website. And that's all I have to say about that.

That beginning the Strung Out was really cool in my headphones (tuning out the starbucks assortment of misguided covers as I type).

This is the usual awesome start by EFD. Sure to be followed up by the awesome middle and end.
  11:23pm
Sybil:

Evan need never cover;
  11:23pm
efd:

happy birthday Sybil! And hi everyone! Back in a bit....
  11:28pm
Danne D:

Thank YOU, efd!
It's the great DJs like you that keep us tuning in :)
I also have to say that as someone who has volunteered at the station that everyone at WFMU always treat their volunteers like gold. It's always such a great experience. All of these brilliant people come together and make this all come together and that everyone is valued and feels a part of it all really makes it so so special.
  11:39pm
efd:

thanks Danne, I appreciate that - it's just one big love-fest here at WFMU. At least during marathon time. And as for that Bon Jovi question, I am not at liberty to say and it's not my fault no one's seen Tico Torres lately.

Kat, I'm happy to have fulfilled your psychic request!
  11:42pm
Aharon:

Danne, as a non-commissioned minor volunteer speaking to one with crazy epaulets and top-secret clearance, I say thanks too.

See? Not an OPS reference in the lot.
  11:51pm
DJ Terre T:

Thx 4 cohosting my show- U were great! Yr cohosting even got a mention in the (Newark) Examiner!
"Evan ‘Funk’ Davies (a hoot on Terre T’s show)"
!!!!

See link below:

  11:55pm
Joe:

Ahoy from the SS Carnival Valor!
  11:57pm
efd:

holy crap, it's Joe at sea!

Terre, you're welcome and thanks for the link! Awesome it got a mention! (What the heck is the Newark Examiner?)
  11:57pm
toni daytona:

hey evan,,,i wonder if i could donate used cds for fmu cause i'm strapped for cash,,,i'm sorry =(=(
  11:59pm
Danne D:

Evan indeed was a hoot :)
And big props to Terre T. This text box doesn't have enough room for me to express how truly great a person Terre is!

On a totally different note. When's the baseball announcement EFD? I'm ready to try and set up my weak efffort at autodrafting :)

To Toni: YES! FMU does accept donations of CDs and the like. There's info on the home page I believe. I'll post a link later (they are kicking me out of starbucks now).
  12:01am
toni d.:

i love you efd!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12:04am
john:

Gosh, quite the lovefest tonight! And dammit, I see I missed one of my favorite Saints songs!
  12:07am
toni d.:

evan if it was'nt for brad it would've been you,,,
  12:07am
randy in NC:

efd-- Since when has it been WFMU East Orange???
  12:08am
efd:

Toni, you were conspicuous by your absence the last couple of weeks. You can find info on non-cash donations here:
http://wfmu.org/Help/donate.html
  12:10am
Joshua K:

I like this rock music you are playing on the radio and virtual radio
  12:11am
Joe:

here I am, logging in to check my email, and I realize that it's -that- special time of night. With the internet fee here, on top of my pledges, this has without a doubt been the my most expensive month for listening to WFMU ever.

But as the first person to stream the EFD show onboard a cruise liner (and possibly the only person at sea wearing an WFMU t-shirt) I say, it's worth it.
  12:14am
Corey:

Lovin an Older Gal is the Sonny and the Sunsets song
  12:18am
Joe B:

Randy, that is where the transmitter is (actually West Orange) and East Orange is the FCC-designated place of station ID. To answer your original question, since the beginning!
  12:26am
?:

I was watching Rolling Stones Cccksucker Blues and feeling increasingly icky. Then I remembered Evan's on
  12:28am
efd:

Corey, thanks for that info!

Also, everyone should realize that Joe's vacation is very cheap! He didn't spend a lot of money on it!

Joe B,. thx for fielding the station ID question (and hi Randy!)
  12:28am
Corey:

Where did you get your Cock Sucker blues Copy?
  12:31am
Joe B:

On top of his other expenses, Joe bought me a beer at the Mercury Lounge Thursday night! Listener of the Year!
  12:32am
Keira:

Re: cocksucker blues. I don't know- it's my partner's computer. He steals widely
  12:36am
benbunch:

was Baby Elephant the guy from Humpty Hump, Shock G???
  12:36am
holland oats:

great show evan - making my late night bearable
  12:38am
efd:

Ben B, yep that was him alright. That's the only song he appears on, though.

Glad you're enjoying the show, H. Oats!
  12:39am
AZ:

Good heavens! I just returned to my hotel room only to hear "Thunderbird"! At least now I know someone other than me has listened to it!
  12:42am
(mta) Tony:

Hey Corey, if you'd like to have a copy of Cocksucker Blues (DVD) I can provide that to you FOC, IF you're interested. Hi efd, and everyone.
  12:50am
efd:

AZ, I didn't even think you'd hear that! Figured you'd be out and about tonight and unable to catch the show.

Hi Tony, and belated hi to Keira and Joshua (and anyone else I mmissed!
  12:52am
randy in NC:

efd-- Hey great show! My memory lapse re. EO vs JC, sorry...
  12:58am
Danne D:

I remember Ken putting out a great explanation essentially saying the city designation is whatever the FCC says it is - that is doesn't have to make sense with say, actual geography.

Thanks for posting the link to donate CDs etc for toni, Evan!

EFD - need any NASCAR souvenirs? Going to the race in Bristol this weekend :)
  1:00am
efd:

no NASCAR for me. Next week I'll put the word out for the fantasy baseball league, btw.
  1:01am
(mta) Tony:

No, but thanx for asking, efd. Have a great and safe time. Take pix and post 'em somewhere may be nice.
  1:02am
bill k:

this song is really cool, but totally un-google-able! year?
  1:05am
Danne D:

Wow, not even any Roush-Fenway racing gear?
I totally forgot the Red Sox linkup, but here's your proof Evan: http://www.flickr.com/photos/speedtv/662086224/
Guess if I find a diecast with that paint scheme, I'll have to send it your way anyhow :)

Looking forward to the baseball message!
  1:05am
efd:

think it's 1983, bill.
  1:05am
(mta) Tony:

If any fmu donator needs the Cocksucker Blues besides Corey, just ask. Danne, I didn't realize you only offered the souvenirs to efd. Pardon moi.
  1:08am
bill k:

thanks man. you're talking about "somebody," right?
  1:09am
Danne D:

More here, Evan: http://www.motorracingnetwork.com/gallery.aspx?ssid=1343

LOL - no worries Tony. I'll have to dig up some pics to post somehow :) Not a big fan of the #99 after what he pulled 2 weeks ago, but that's another story. Just hoping our Jersey boy Truex comes through.

Did you want a souvenir Tony? We can open up EFD's swap meet :o)
  1:15am
efd:

I forgot about that Fenway racing connection... I'll let you use your judgement. :)

Bill, that's correct, I think "Somebody" came out in '83.
  1:17am
bill k:

Downloaded already. Thanks for the add'l info!
  1:22am
(mta) Tony:

That sounds pretty cool, Danne; I like your idea and I've plenty to share.

Like I said when I thought efd was asking the question, no thanx, but your offer is appreciated. I'm personally not into NASCAR whatsoever. But believe me, I have other interests that excite me just as much as I'm sure NASCAR does you (as well as thousands or millions of other folks). I don't even know what NASCAR stands for! Really, have a GREAT time. If you're driving, be extra careful. If you send the pix to efd, perhaps he'd be kind enough to post them for all to see?
  1:29am
Danne D:

Thx Tony :) If I find a Red Sox diecast I'll totally get the pix to EFD :) I actually have one of me in my FMU hoodie from last year actually.
NASCAR: National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing
My buddy's driving, so I'm lucky that way :) Thanks for the well wishes Tony!

As usual I've totally derailed another comment board :o) But I will get back on topic a bit and say how much I'm enjoying the show. Curious if Evan knows the Boston Spaceships firsthand.
  1:35am
?:

I wouldn't doubt it if he did. He knows a LOT of people.
Sorry to have derailed your other thread.
  1:36am
(mta) Tony:

? was me.
  1:40am
Danne D:

Tony you derailed nothing - I was picking on myself :)
I have a way of bringing up tangents sometimes and get carried away a bit - I appreciate you're conversing with me :)
  1:41am
Danne D:

You're good people, Tony!
  1:43am
AZ:

This Rot Shit 45 is making my late evening a much better place. Especially the clarinet!
  1:44am
(mta) Tony:

I never realized comments could be posted anonymously. And, you're welcome. Belive me, it was my pleasure. And I appreciate your kind words.
  1:46am
efd:

Danne & Tony, I've exchanged a couple of emails with Chris from the B. Spaceships, but don't know any of them beyond that.

Glad you enjoyed the Rot Shit, AZ!
  1:47am
Danne D:

No problem. Lots of cool knowledgeable people around this particular playlist I must say.

Btw Evan - do you get to go to Austin at all?
  1:56am
Danne D:

Cool aircheck to cap off the proceedings EFD. Thanks for another great show :)
Goodnight everyone in Funk-land!
  1:19pm
Robbie:

That Donna Summer remix should be used to extract information from terrorists at Gitmo!
  2:48pm
future stress recordings:

Thanks for supporting Sonny & the Sunsets! Don't forget about the new 7" -- The Hypnotist {b/w} Stranded, out now on [ future stress recordings ] !
