Mon. Jan 13th, 9am - Noon:
Surface Noise Live from Lincoln Center with Special Guest Don Fleming
(More info...)
Tune in on Monday morning, January 13th, for a special remote broadcast of Surface Noise from Lincoln Center's Library of the Performing Arts. Joe and his special guest Don Fleming will be broadcasting live from the Bruno C. Walter Auditorium, playing records they have selected from the Performing Arts library's vast Music and Recorded Archival Sound Collection. Joe and Don have delved deep to fish out rare and interesting music to share, hopefully playing some things not heard before on WFMU.
Joe, blow me if it ain't wet again at the weekend. We're off to Istanbul tomorrow, volcanoes permtting. Hope to see Salim Sesler there. Chances of Mercandede are most unlikely.
4:00am
Joe:
Need I say how jealous I am? Everyone I know who's been loves Turkey. Hope the volcano doesn't keep you down.
4:03am
Brian in UK:
Last time was 1976, expect some changes. Are there any record shops perchance? He said knowingly.
4:05am
Joe:
God, I hope so. Get some 3 Hurel records! Love them.
4:06am
Brian in UK:
Who came first Mike Pender or Jim McGuinn?

4:08am
Joe:
Good question! U.S. and U.K. exponents of the same aesthetic, I guess!
4:10am
Brian in UK:
Do I sense Secret Affair in the wings?
4:11am
Joe:
Damn, good idea! I need to see if we have any. The Records song died in the middle. Should I put it on again?
4:14am
Brian in UK:
I think we got the drift. Ever get downwind of Mood Six? I hate these maths questions as you can see.
4:18am
Joe:
Another good idea! I just looked for Secret Affair. Alas, none here--I need one of my Mod comps from home...
5:10am
Brian in UK:
Hope to see some swag on our kitchen table when we get back. Keep it coming, Joe.
5:12am
Joe:
I hope so, Brian. We're at it every day in the Volunteer Office, people packing and sending. There's a long way to go, unfortunately! How long are you going to be in Turkey?
5:14am
Brian inUK:
Back next Sat night; in time to hear you next Sun.
5:15am
Joe:
God bless ya. Quick trip! How long does it take to get over there from where you are?
5:15am
Brian in UK:
Guess it must be a pretty thankless task.
5:16am
Brian in UK:
4 hours there, 2 hours back. Ha ha
5:18am
Joe:
Wow, that's quicker than me flying to California. Going to Turkey is a major trip from here, needless to say. Let me know what you end up doing, though, 'cause I'm definitely going to get there one of these days.
5:20am
Brian in UK:
Will do. Love the 78s
5:22am
Joe:
Thanks! That's how this show got its name, actually---started out as a 78 show a couple years ago. i don't get enough 78s on these days.
