Listener comments!

  3:11am
(mta) Tony:

Good morning, Joe...
With so many changes happening, I hope you'll be with us for the next season. I and so many others look forward to your weekly show.
  3:13am
Joe:

Wow, thanks so much, Tony. Yes, I'll be on for the summer, I'm happy to say. I'll be staying on Saturday, just moving up a bit to midnight. I hope you'll be able to stay with me!
  3:17am
(mta) Tony:

I sure will, Joe. I'm always both awake and home between midnight and 5 a.m. I love your shows.
  3:19am
Joe:

Cool! I'm still having as much fun as ever, and I'm hoping that since I'll be less sleep-deprived, my "earlier" show will be better!
  3:34am
Sue:

Hi, Joe! How's it going?
  3:44am
Joe:

Hey, Sue!! I'm OK--how are you doing??
  3:48am
Sue:

Doin' alright. Congrats on your new time slot! Hope it's a happy move for you.
  3:53am
Joe:

Thanks, Sue. Yeah, I'm really happy about it. I think I'll be a little more lively. I'm too much of an old fart to stay up all night anymore.
  3:56am
Sue:

No you're not, you're just perfect :) but aside from that, you'll be on Sunday morning/Saturday night still? Just three hours earlier?
  3:59am
Joe:

Yeah, just three hours earlier. I hope that some of the folks who have been listening during this time slot will follow me, although I know a lot of people are still out that early...But sitting in this chair will be the great Woody, who does a fantastic show.
  4:02am
(mta) Tony:

I agree with Sue, Joe. And yes, it will be better for me, thanx for askin. I'm always listening at midnight. Sue's right, you're no old fart; just perfect...
  4:03am
Sue:

Awesome, looking forward to it. And thanks, Tony for the affirmation :)
  4:03am
Joe:

Aw, you guys! :)
  4:05am
Sue:

Joe, we just love ya, man.
  4:07am
Joe:

I'm just going to get all sloppy happy from all this love if y'all ain't careful.
  4:08am
Sue:

lol :)
  4:09am
Enid Coleslaw:

Hey Joe, thanks for the Free to Walks...any chance of playing The Raveonettes' version later?
  4:12am
(mta) Tony:

What are you doing during the show Sue? I'm clearing off the dinner table cluttered with CDs and DVDs, tapes, etc., but access to the libraries are blocked with car parts blocking access. What a mess! Am I living in a garage or a media studio? Thanks for the tunes, Joe. So what're YOU doing Sue?
  4:13am
(mta) Tony:

and what're YOU doing, Enid?
  4:14am
Sue:

Nothing as exciting as you, Tony. I just woke up, I'm chain smoking and considering dying my hair.
  4:14am
Joe:

Sure, Enid, I'll give it a go later in the show!
  4:16am
Joe:

What color, Sue?
  4:18am
Sue:

It's called Ruby Rush. apparently it's a "rich auburn true red." ruby rush... yeah, i did this color before. it's the only red that actually shows on my dark hair. i think i'm gonna go for it
  4:18am
Enid Coleslaw:

Hey thanks Joe! @mta Tony: Sadly, I'm at work!
  4:19am
Joe:

What time of day is it in Singapore, Enid?
  4:20am
Enid Coleslaw:

4.20 p.m....I'm beavering away at a newspaper, if you're wondering why I'm slaving on a Sunday...anyway great show Joe, glad you're still going to be on!
  4:21am
(mta) Tony:

Wow, that's amazing Sue; let me ask you just one more question: is there ANYTHING I can say right now that may get you to reconsider lighting up again? 'Cause if there were, I'd say it. Whatever we do,Joe makes it fun. Where ya at? I'm in NYC. Anyway, I hope you reconsider and I really don't mean to preach and I apologize if I've offended you with my suggestion. What city are you working in, Enid? Oh, I see now you're in Singapore, thanks Joe.
  4:21am
Joe:

Thanks, Enid!
  4:24am
Sue:

yeah i'm not actually DOING much of anything. what do you do after clearing the mess?
  4:25am
Brian in UK:

It feels like we're heading towards 'Wasn't Born to Follow' in Byrds style
  4:27am
Joe:

Hey, Brian! I may head there later, actually...I was thinking of playing "Goin' Back," maybe their version.
  4:27am
(mta) Tony:

That's funny Sue; I make another mess.
  4:28am
Sue:

tee hee... awesome. good answer :)
  4:31am
Sue:

Tony, don't you live on MLK?
  4:34am
Joe:

Tony lives on milk? Don't we all!
  4:35am
Sue:

haha :) yeah, i thought we talked about this before. he lives on MLK in the city, i was on MLK in newark
  4:41am
Joe:

I'm glad I've got all the MLK folks tuned in. Just as long as I don't have to play "Pride (In the Name of Love)."
  4:43am
(mta) Tony:

Which dating site was that? Let's see, MLK, was that "Mostly Latin Kissers"? I've lost count of the number I've joined. Joe, I don't think Sue's talking about milk.
  4:46am
(mta) Tony:

No really, I don't know what MLK stands for; brain fry. Is someone going to tell me?
  4:46am
Joe:

I could go for some chocolate milk right now, actually. Or Strawberry Quik.
  4:48am
fred:

Joe, I love your show, but not enough to be awake from 6 to 9am on a Sunday -- that's french time -- so I won't be listening live over the summer. I know the archives are there, but there's so much greatness on the station that I rarely have time to hit them. I'm sure your premium will make me reconsider when I get it, if it's even half as great as the hobo one. The nice thing about a new time slot is that another bunch of listener will get to know you.
  4:48am
(mta) Tony:

You're not talking about just, real milk, are you?
  4:52am
Joe:

@Fred: Sorry you won't be out there earlier, Fred! But thanks for the very kind words. I hope you like the premium. We're currently working through all of the swag mailings now, so you should look for it within a couple of weeks.
  4:53am
Joe:

@Tony: Of course!
  4:55am
(mta) Tony:

I thought it was a new drug!
  4:58am
Joe:

Isn't Strawberry Quik classified as one? It should have been!
  4:58am
Brian in UK:

I fear might be with Fred. It will be 5am here in Ingerland.
  5:01am
Joe:

Bummer, Brian! I sure hope I hear from you again along the way...thanks again for all the Turkish info!
  5:09am
Katherine:

Kurt Gottschalk's show kills. I'm sooooo sad WFMU is taking his show off the air. <sob> Thanks for announcing. Please bring it back.
  5:11am
Joe:

Yeah, Kurt is great. I'm sure he'll be back. You can't keep a good man away from WFMU!
  5:15am
Katherine:

<drying tears> Thanks Joe.
  5:19am
Enid Coleslaw:

Hey Joe, I'm just wondering, what's your routine been for the nights you've been doing this slot? Do you take a nap before or just party right until it's time to get to WFMU?
  5:23am
Joe:

For a while, I tried to do the "stay up all night" thing, but it was a disaster--I was a zombie for two days afterwards. My M.O. since then has been in bed by 8-8:30 and up at 1:30 to get in here. It seems to work better. Then I just go home after and sleep another couple of hours. For the 12-3 show, I'll definitely be able to stay up, so it'll be better for me!
  5:31am
Enid Coleslaw:

Ah, The Raveonettes! Thanks!
  5:32am
Joe:

@ Enid: My pleasure!
  5:43am
Brian in UK:

Been losing my connection just now, see you played Byrds. Such a great LP.
  5:45am
Sue:

sorry, computer froze. martin luther king jr blvd is what i was talking about :)
  5:46am
Joe:

Mm-hmm! I've worn a copy of NBB out. I'm on the CD now. @Sue: Hey, Sue! Thought I lost you!
  5:50am
(mta) Tony:

Ah!!! Darn!!! I would've never remembered or guessed it, Sue. You've got a great memory. I appreciate your coming back to me. Joe thought we were talkin' about real milk! How 'bout that, Joe, I knew that was code for SOMETHING! Good to have you back, Sue. You'll have to replay this set from the archive. It was great, Joe!
  5:51am
Joe:

Thanks, Tony! Having a great time tonight, glad y'all have stuck with me!
  5:53am
annie:

barely made it, good morning..
  5:55am
Joe:

Hey, Annie! What's up?
  5:55am
Sue:

i was listening the whole time! just incomunicado.
  5:55am
annie:

lots shakin, but i'm here!!! i feel as if i really have to stop and breathe.
  5:59am
Joe:

Hey, Everybody--Just a final thanks for listening, and I hope to hear from some of you in my new slot at 12-3. If not, I'm sure we'll meet again! WFMU's listeners are the best.
  5:59am
Sue:

Joe rocks!! see you next week!!
  6:02am
(mta) Tony:

I'm glad to hear that, Sue. Do you agree that particular set was worth listening to on the archive? See ya next week!
