@ texas scott, It's his-story, subjectively.. Dates of historical "importance" are celebrated originally by those who are directly affected by them. I think Tradition has a lot to do with why people continue to celebrate events that happened beyond living..
I suppose some people just like to revel for the hell of it, whether it is ficticious or relevant or not
