Listener comments!

  12:08pm
Cecile:

Wow, that show with the books looks awesome. I participated very indirectly in the MI scene as a hardcore New Waver, but I got to see the Misfits' final show. And I hope that book has Angry Red Planet in it, because they were great.
  12:08pm
Cecile:

Ooooooh. Powuh Metal!

Would you happen to have the Midwestern HC classic "American Story" by the Cult Heroes?
  12:12pm
Cecile:

YES.
  12:14pm
Todd 76%:

GET EM DIANE! ENJOYING THE NEW TIME SLOT!
  12:29pm
Ergänzt:

@ Cecile ¿¿Angry Red Planet??,¿¿Book,What Book?? I haven't heard that name in, like forever. They were Great. I don't know how many times I saw them...But I can only vaguely remeber a show they played at Paycheck's in Hamtramck.I've been away from Detroit way too long...What about the great Born without a Face, Boneyard, and Legion of Doom...Did I mention Slaughterhouse...And the Hungry Brain???
  12:32pm
Cecile:

Check Diane's playlist page. She has a great show coming up at the end of the month.

We were probably at that same Paycheck's show at one point...LOL! Was it the one where they opened for the Butthole Surfers and Big Black?
  12:35pm
Cecile:

Diane's interviewing the author of a Detroit HC book, the editor of a book of Touch and Go fanzine reprints, and Tesco Vee!
  12:36pm
R I S K Y:

BAUHAUS YEEEUH!
  12:38pm
chris:

Bauhaus.... Bless you, Diane.
  12:38pm
Ergänzt:

Yes...How huggin' intense was that...I'll check the Playlist...That's Funny as all get out...I used to hang out at the Graystone mostly...But like I said I've been away from Detroit for 18years now... Yes Tesco Vee...Long live the Meat Men...
  12:39pm
Cecile:

I went to a ton of shows at the Greystone in '85-96. Great place, crummy sound system.
  12:40pm
Ergänzt:

...And Long Live Scary...
  12:46pm
Ergänzt:

¡¡¡¿¿¿Yeah???!!! Me, too...But I thought that place closed down for shows around'90-'91...The Bank was also great for shows unfortunately too seldom...I'd been parties at the Greystone...Like the after-show-party for The Mentors...Sugar!!! is this bringin' back Memories...
  12:48pm
Cecile:

that could be. I was out of A2/Detroit by the end of '87.
  12:49pm
Ergänzt:

I remember The Fear show in Detroit and "Someone" throwin' hyperdermic needles at the band...Lee Ving was Sour 'cause they were all empty...
  12:51pm
Cecile:

I heard about that.
  12:57pm
Ergänzt:

Well...Wet the Bed...It's almost 7p.m. local time...I gotta get some stuff done...But, Thanks, Cecile for the Misty-Water-Colored-Memories...Take Care...Great Forum Ya' Got here, Diane...Thanks For the ¡¡¡Rock!!!
  12:59pm
Cecile:

have a good night, Erg!
  1:07pm
Ergänzt:

@ Cecile...Yes...We'll have to keep 'em honest on the 24th of August...Hope to see your comments then...J
  1:07pm
paul b.:

I was listening to that Dream Syndicate song and thinking to myself that melodically there is a vague echo of that song in Luna's 'Bobby Peru'. Maybe its just me.
  1:08pm
Cecile:

Me, too! See ya then!
  1:13pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

just reading the comments front to back...I think two weeks ago in CLE a college programmer interviewed Tesco Vee on the radio. Nice to be ahead of NY for a change!
  1:15pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

you think this band was influenced by JP??
  1:16pm
Cecile:

A little? They are and Primal Fear is too... Sounds more 'Maiden to me though.
  1:16pm
Cecile:

the New York Times style section notwithstanding, tons of trends are coming out of the Midwest these days.
  1:19pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

hey Cecile, we're the Great Lakes Region, not the Midwest!!;)
  1:19pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Motorhead! Lemmy! ümläuts! lol
  1:19pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

or, the good old-fashioined RUST BELT
  1:20pm
Cecile:

The Upper Midwest.

The BEST part.
  1:20pm
BSI:

aah! back from lunch in time to be bludgeoned by Lemmy's sideburns. It is a good day to die...
  1:21pm
Cecile:

That other stuff is just things taking up space between here and the West Coast.

KIDDING!
  1:21pm
Cecile:

Rust Belt Rules.
  1:22pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I've met my Motorhead intake quota for the week now.

The Rust Belt Rules are a little less strict than the Cider House Rules.
  1:23pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

man, that Gnaw is about as ugly as it gets
  1:24pm
Cecile:

they involve more Coney Islands and Vernor's.
  1:33pm
federov:

what the hell is that Kuh-kuh-kuh sound in the back of your commentary?? It's fucking annoying.
  1:36pm
federov:

sounds like an asthmatic schnauzer dog
  1:36pm
Bad Ronald:

Mark of Zorro
  1:37pm
Cecile:

it's Zorro's whip. This is a old 60s instrumental about Zorro.
  1:38pm
federov:

gotcha

I sit corrected.
  1:41pm
Bad Ronald:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Dogs-701/Schnauzer-w-allergies.htm
  1:46pm
Cecile:

I like hearing old blues work songs at work. "I'm gonna be here for the rest of my life". Feels like it sometimes
  1:48pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

yep, but I'd rather be sitting here at this damned over-air-conditioned desk than down in the Georgia heat building a blacktop road.
  1:51pm
Cecile:

Very true.

But it doesn't scan that same way. "I'm just sitting here in my air-conditioned office crunching training record numbers."
  1:51pm
Cecile:

Lord, I think I could die.
  1:55pm
Mike East:

I think I'd buy that record.
  1:57pm
Cecile:

Hey, Mike!
  1:58pm
Mike East:

Oy!
  1:58pm
Cecile:

Well, I'm out for a bit, should be back by the end of the show.
  2:06pm
PKNY:

Voivod!
  2:09pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

cool version but I'm not crazy about the way he's singing it
  2:17pm
Cheri Pi:

Sacrilege!
  2:18pm
Matt:

Anyone else a fan of Fugazi's The Argument?
  2:22pm
BSI:

here in dc i was up to here with fugazi by about 1989. But that's just me, i'm sure.
  2:22pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

yeah, it's OK. Not the best thing they ever did.
  2:24pm
dw:

It makes sense for Nadja to have a "fill in the blank" approach to titles with 1000 releases in 3 years.
  2:24pm
Ergänzt:

@Dead Corporate Eyes...Aww C'mon it was like '89 give it to 'em...They're still the Best F***ed-Up-Pathos-Lovin' Rocked-Out Band Ever...Of course, They've got Better...It's still, like Light-years better than any of that bed-Wettin' I-Hate-to-even-type-the-band, O.K., Here goes...Metalicca-Runny-Crap...¡¡¡VOIVOD!!! ...Ooh, That was just Kyleas. Love 'em...Do they, Like, Need anthor Drummer,Please, Let me know...
  2:52pm
yayson:

horseback. nice.
  2:52pm
dw:

Fun show! Thanks Diane!
  2:57pm
Scott S.:
