Listener comments!

  3:21pm
Cecile:

Good afternoon, Fabio.
I thought of a "failure" title: Failure is Your Birthright.
  3:23pm
Fabio:

good one C.
  3:24pm
Cecile:

thanks!
  3:28pm
Cecile:

Hey, I was watching the Rotten Tomatoes movie review show online and they had pornstar Sasha Grey on telling about her five favorite movies (when the movie the Girlfriend Experience came out) and Stroszek was her #5 movie. Then about three other serious art films - I think Truffaut was in there. And Escape from New York was #1. But Stroszek! Wow. I will have to see that movie someday.
  3:30pm
north guinea hills:

anything by m. luc ferrari is always a delight to my heart. I had the pleasure to talk w/ him when he played at the kitchen about 7 years ago.
  3:30pm
Fabio:

Oh yeah, it's exceptionally great. But I'm amazed/amused that she would put Escape from ny at #1, over Stroszek. Pornstars, go figure!
  3:32pm
Cecile:

It was because she had a crush on Kurt Russell as Snake Pliskin. LOL!
  3:35pm
Cecile:

To be honest the only Herzog film I've seen is Grizzly Man.
As my friend put it, "Tim Treadwell was an alcoholic, but for bears."
  3:41pm
tj:

late on this one, but the girlfriend experience was god awful...
  3:42pm
Cecile:

it sounded bad. But she has interesting taste in movies, at least.
  3:51pm
Looms:

Hello there!
I'm not a big fan of Grizzly Man (not bad though) but the dvd has an amazing bonus: a documentary about the recording session of the soundtrack featuring Richard Thompson, Jim O'Rourke, Damon Smith and Danielle DeGruttola. Great stuff.
  3:52pm
Mike East:

Stroszek and The Girlfriend Experience have been on my "instant queue" for about a year now. I have more curiosity about the former than the latter, though a friend of mine said it was ok.
  3:56pm
Mike East:

I saw that Grizzly Man making of the soundtrack. It was pretty great. bass and cello improvising to bears fighting...preparing a piano...Werner Herzog giving abstract musical direction
  4:00pm
Looms:

and Jim O'Rourke imitating Tim Treadwell, describing Herzog as "the most dangerous movie director in the world", or something like that.
  4:24pm
john:

Hey - Escape from New York was decent... classic john carpenter.
werner herzog's newest is worth a watch as well - the Bad Lieutenant re-imagining with Nick Cage... pretty funny stuff
  4:26pm
Looms:

The "great" Ghédalia Tazartès (to be pronounced "tazartess")
  4:28pm
north guinea hills:

My gf got me some old comics in Mexico that Jodorowsky did in the late 60's beforehe made his films. The motifs that appear in comics also appear in his films. Yes, they awesome psyche/dada craziness, just like his films.
  4:28pm
Cecile:

hey, Cooper-Moore is amazing. I saw him play a drinking straw and actually get wild sounds out of it.
  4:29pm
Mike East:

Agreed - I enjoyed Escape from NY. Didn't see the sequel, Escape from LA, though.
  4:33pm
steve:

this track is pleasing to me!
  4:52pm
nyoukis:

'stroszek' is a must see movie,,, and seeing as fabio played adam bohamns 'metal mushroom' all should go forth and check out 'Katalin varga',, great movie by Peter Strickland (of the Sonic Catering Band) with amazing soundtrack (including Metal Mushroom)
  5:00pm
nyoukis:

'Sag, Ar Det Konstigt Att Man Langtar Bort Nan Gang?'
hey fabio, you stalking me on facefuck???
  5:02pm
Fabio:

No, Should I be?
  5:04pm
nyoukis:

oh aye!! pure spice.
  5:16pm
Cecile:

YEAH!
  5:18pm
Looms:

This is delightfully crazy!
  5:18pm
BSI:

holy crap, I missed the Jodorowsky/don cherry stuff from Holy Mountain -- That long chant piece is one of my favorite tunes of all time...
  5:20pm
steve:

i feel like i should be paying for this... whens the next marathon? whens the record fair??
  5:23pm
?:

just an awesome recording, this orcutt.. space sounds so good
  5:25pm
mick:

hey fabio.....got any finnish tango?
  5:26pm
nyoukis:

think the Orcutt was recorded in Bruce Russells gimp chamber. You should see what them antipodeans do to hitchhikers in their little 'playrooms'. Good acoustics tho..
  5:29pm
Fabio:

What do they "do" to hitchhikers?
  5:32pm
?:

nyoukis, bug orcutt for new master and put out another one of those cloudy looking seven inchers..
  5:37pm
Duke of Earl Grey:

Steve, you can donate anytime: click the "donate" link at the top center of the front FMU page. And I think you can still get official 2010 FMU swag. Marathons are every yr. in Feb. or March. Record fair in... late Oct. maybe?

Great show Fabio!
  5:39pm
nyoukis:

i've heard some nasty stuff, usually involving the insertion of huhu grubs and enforced listening to Split Enz
  5:40pm
nyoukis:

?: you are in the know,, you know about the four string dobro 'cadenza freedom' 7" dont you,, but who are you?? hmmm,, intrigued.
  5:44pm
?:

  5:47pm
Anulka:

The Holy Mountain. Fabio played some music from the soundtrack earlier.
  5:49pm
?:

  5:50pm
tom:

  5:56pm
nyoukis:
