Listener comments!

  12:03pm
Maggie:

I love this new schedule, Irene - I can actually listen to you while working.
  12:04pm
zoot:

We must be on a similar wavelength. I was cooking cassoulet to Odds and Sods yesterday.
  12:09pm
Irene:

It's gonna take a little getting used to on my part because I have to plan a day earlier. But it's all good so far.
  12:18pm
Art(uro):

Todd! And on vinyl, to boot!
  12:22pm
Looms:

Hello Irene! Did you bring your whole 7'' collection with you today?
  12:23pm
Irene:

I only brought a small fraction. Every year this week reminds me of how many great singles I have.
  12:23pm
v k:

related ? - why type of challenges does "all-45's" rule present?
  12:27pm
Irene:

A rather frantic pace takes over the show. Lots of quick choices!
  12:44pm
don:

so happy, franks a lot for these sounds irene!
  12:49pm
dc pat:

yes! Buzzcocks. Every DJ should be forced to play Buzzcocks this week....
  12:51pm
ken:

ahhhh.....
  12:56pm
philthy:

Sweet!
  12:56pm
Looms:

Woohoo, Wire!
  12:58pm
Matt from Springfield:

I like this Wire, but I like the title more! That location is in middle-of-nowhere Iowa, near the town of Melrose.
  1:03pm
dc pat:

I was just fondling about 10 of those yellow 45 spindle things yesterday. They were in a bag of childrens stories 7" rekkids that my wife use to listen to when she was little.
  1:10pm
Art(uro):

Kendra Smith?
  1:12pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, I thought this was an alternate Velvet Underground & Nico track until I saw the Kendra Smith credit! Very well done!
  1:16pm
dc pat:

jeeze haven't heard this Slits tune in about 20 years! We use to play the album in a hippie store where I worked
  1:19pm
Duke of Earl Grey:

Graham Lewis of Wire: "There's actually a place called something like Centretown, Iowa. The song is about traveling. I flew from L.A. to New York in 1978 and crossed the mid-west, and it went on and on and on and on. It was just incredible that this grid system was imposed on an enormous stretch of land. ...It's a travelogue."
  1:20pm
RISKY!:

IRENE YOUR PLAYING ALL MAH FAVS! GET EM!!!!!
  1:21pm
dc pat:

Bringing back ALL kinds of memories today...
  1:22pm
Cecile:

Produced by Todd Rundgren!
  1:27pm
Chris from DC:

Saw Kendra at Terrastock 2, but that's the last I ever heard of her.
  1:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Very 60s tune by Laura Nyro ("Stoned Soul Picnic" and many others)! Todd Rundgren said that he stopped writing songs like The Who and started his own style after hearing Laura.
  1:34pm
annie:

listening but working..
  1:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

To those who weren't aware, the lead guitar on "Badge" is "L'Angelo Mysterioso" -- George Harrison, in thanks to Clapton for playing on While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
  1:35pm
dc pat:

funny I was just about to look up if it was Harrison, couldn't remember for sure. Thanks Matt f. S.
  1:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

Anytime pat! If I recall, the song was called "Badge" because George misread Eric's handwriting of the "bridge" part of the song.

Never heard this Lovin' Spoonful before -- it's nice.
  1:44pm
Maria D:

Sagittarius! Thanks.
  1:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

Yes! Zombies! Can't go wrong with Colin Bluntstone.
  1:48pm
seang:

here we go!
  1:49pm
Cecile:

This is one of only two or three Andy Partridge/XTC songs I like.
  1:51pm
dc pat:

Still nailing it Irene. More memories with Partridge et al. Surprised Cecile, I thought he'd be right up your alley...
  1:52pm
Looms:

Gotta go. Nice job, Irene!
  1:53pm
Cecile:

It's like the Jam. Everything is right on paper for me to like them, but something about them is just....uh.
  1:53pm
seang:

that was a Colin Moulding tune aka "The Red Curtain", Cecile, maybe you just dig the Moulding tunes
  1:56pm
Cecile:

that could be!
  1:58pm
dc pat:

wow, totally with you on the Jam. I can't even pick up one of their records these days...but for me XTC is aging quite well..
  2:07pm
seang:

Moulding was a guest on Rundgren Radio a couple years back
  2:09pm
Cecile:

It's like six degrees of Todd Rundgren on this ocmment boards today. I love it.
  2:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great jazz and soul this block! Love it, Irene!
@Cecile: Todd's pretty well connected; a Six Degrees game for him would be pretty interesting.
