"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Santa's drunk or what?
  7:54am Looms:

Okay, he's just high.
  8:51am Cecile:

I love the John Fahey Christmas records. He deliberately did them to piss people off. But the joke was on him.
  8:53am Looms:

Nice job, John. Merry christmas!
  8:53am JA:

well they were the biggest sellers in the takoma catalog
  8:54am Cecile:

I know! He couldn't escape them. People who didn't know a dang thing about Blind Joe Death, had his Christmas albums.
  8:54am JA:

happy holidays everyone!
  8:57am Cecile:

Great show so far! Holidayy perversity cheers my soul, and I'm always glad when I can catch your show "live", Mr. Allen.
  7:12pm Steve K:

it's great that someone remembered Rick Ruskin at the holidays
  8:54pm JA:

oh,is Rick still around. He sure is. Look at this amazing quote about Rick's playing....

"...the detail and precision of Ruskin's playing are well known among fingerpickers..." - Guitar Player
  2:11pm Rick Ruskin:

Yes, I'm still around and have done a lot of recording since my days with Takoma Records. I'm easy to find via Google; etc.
