Probably not the association most people have with that song, Victor!
  9:47am charlie:

I love Frank Pahl too -- great work with Only a Mother, Scavenger Quartet, and solo too
  9:48am t in o:

  10:31am charlie:

this is a cover of a song originally done by Francoise Hardy
  10:31am victor in Albany:

It was a huge hit for her
  10:33am charlie:

Yes, and her name is little know here (except on WFMU)
  10:36am ndbob:

I remember listening to Francoise n seventh grade French class.
  10:37am charlie:

I wish our French class was so hip! I do remember our English teacher playing Simon & Garfunkel -- ah, the sixties...
  10:38am victor in Albany:

Is this off of PIL's record that came in a metal box? and was impossible to get the LP out of the box?
  10:39am Gary the M:

lucky you, bob - all we got was Gilbert Becaud
  10:42am charlie:

That's the one -- "Metal Box" -- although it was was subsequently issued as "Second Edition" -- much easier to open!
  10:45am Belford:

My all-time fave musician, Yusef Lateef, plays on that Jimmy Scott record under the pseudonym "Joe Gentle."
  10:46am Drummer Some:

Hey, Yusef is my all-time musical hero/rabbi/guru, too. Can we share?
  10:47am Gary the M:

great to hear the double six, man
  10:47am ndbob:

yep - i recently found a double six lp online
  10:50am Gary the M:

that mimi perrin is somethin' else
  10:50am charlie:

That's cool, Bob! I've only ever had a CD re-ish and mp3s from online. Nice find. They worked with Quincy Jones and Diz, and begat the Swingle Singers (via Ward Swingle, who was in the Double Six)
  10:51am charlie:

Capitol records -- responsible for Les Double Six *and* Mrs. Miller!
  10:51am ndbob:

Spent the morning and early afternoon laughing and singing -- all thanks to Charlie. Thanks! Really fun show! If I still have "Noshville Katz" in my head this time next week, I may be less enthusiastic. ;)
  11:30am charlie:

Thanks for the comment Katya. And here's hoping that Noshville Katz gets out of your head soon!
