Listener comments!

  9:03pm
john:

RIP Gerry. Home and Dry. If only he were, he might still be alive today.
  9:04pm
Kat:

truth. that was a pretty sad obituary.
  9:09pm
JMD:

Nice memorial, EFD. Thanks
  9:09pm
Unfortunately:

stuck in the middle with booze...
  9:10pm
efd:

An all too common situation, unfortunately. Thanks for tuning in everybody!
  9:22pm
Bruce F:

A wonderful tribute. Thanks EFD.
  9:23pm
Brian:

Nice opening set - will it cap with a Hoof and Mouth Sinfonia cover of "Baker Street"?
  9:23pm
Mike Sin:

EFD -- Fine tribute to Gerry Rafferty you've got going here! I think this single with the Fifth Column in '66 was his first recorded work: http://collectorsfrenzy.com/Details.aspx?id=380160583555
  9:24pm
G:

Great set. We all know the high charting cuts. The depth you're giving (tonight, and as an archive) is great...
  9:26pm
efd:

Brian - Gaaah!! Certainly not! I would never taint the man's memory with that. (But thanks for remembering.)

Mike, thanks! I'll check that single out later, this set is about to draw to a close.

Glad to see folks are enjoying it, I appreciate the comments. This Humblebums song is definitely much mellower than the usual efd fare, but a) it's Dave Mandl's favorite, and b) I think it'll go well with the final song in the set, coming up.
  9:27pm
john:

It'd just sound way too nerdish to say "my favorite Humblebums track," so I'll settle for "lovely." Whatever became of that other fellow, anyway?
  9:29pm
AZ:

You're laying down some heavy-heavy Raffertology--bravo!
  9:31pm
efd:

thanks AZ!

john - stay tuned for the answer to your question!
  9:31pm
tom:

many times like in say in 1978 was turning OFF WPLJ say for WFMU .... for reasons of hits played too many times but so nice to hear Baker Street now and his many nice songs and a nice Voice RIP ...
  9:33pm
cheri:

  9:37pm
slugluv1313:

  9:38pm
cheri:

evan & danne happy new year,,,i'm back in full swing as you can see,,,,,i hope you guys had fun!! god bless gerry!!
  9:38pm
Dave:

Ironically enough, I'm building an AM radio as I listen.
  9:40pm
john:

Billy Connolly is actually a pretty well known comedian/actor in the UK. Long list of credits. Funny guy. Still needs a haircut.
  9:43pm
cheri:

evan & danne what did you guys do over the holidays??? i missed you two,,,
  9:43pm
will:

Well now the other Humblebum was more than an obscure figure; Billy Connolly is a MAJOR star in England and Europe for his performance art / comedy work, screenplays, music and acting.
  9:45pm
john:

My apologies if the tongue-in-cheekiness of the question was a little too obscure!
  9:45pm
efd:

will and john, thanks - I had no idea about Billy Connolly (obviously!).

Cheri, welcome back.

Dave, keep building that radio
  9:45pm
efd:

john, I didn't see the tongue in your cheek.
  9:46pm
cheri:

did you miss me ,.,evan???
  9:49pm
cheri:

ohhh evan could you play some abba tonite?? thnx efd
  9:52pm
efd:

sorry cheri, no abba tonight.
  9:57pm
john:

Well, it's only been what, 38 years since the last one? And it was Ardent.
  10:02pm
cheri:

evan could you play something special for ddc,,,cause i'll still be listenin,,,,ty
  10:03pm
Camchat Rules:

No directing. Be yourself, and let other people be themsleves. :-)
  10:15pm
efd:

I don't know why I had that weird self-doubting moment that Cargoe weren't on Ardent.; of course they were. Thanks for confirming, john.

And thanks for keeping order, CR.
  10:17pm
will:

Good Golly, Mr. Evan, you have certainly atoned for anyone unwelcome mellowness generated by your Gerry Rafferty Super Session, if any was needed (it wasn't!) You are rocking quite mercilessly now ....
  10:20pm
efd:

It's the efd Big Tent programming strategy.
  10:27pm
Madi H:

Those Owls just sound better and better.
  10:36pm
efd:

Madi, I agree! Such a great album.
  10:37pm
cheri:

just to let you know,,evan you have a kick ass show,, you rock efd!!!
  10:38pm
efd:

  10:46pm
steve:

i'm not much of a rock guy but i always really enjoy the efd show!
  10:48pm
cheri:

evan---before you sign off tonite,,please give me a lil shout out ,,thnx efd
  10:50pm
efd:

thanks Steve, I appreciate that!

Cheri, you'll have to be content with shout-outs on the comments page.
  10:54pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

Wow--just joing--who knew there was a humblebums record?!
EFD--youdidn't know Billy Connolly replaced Howard Hesseman in Head of the Class, or was the fourth billed actor in the current Gulliver movie (he's excellent as the King).?
  10:54pm
jim macnie:

almost drove the car off the road singing along to the band that did the Dino Jr cover, E. thanks! happy new year.
  10:57pm
efd:

Hi Jim, great to hear from you! Glad nobody had to call the wagon after you were singing along to "The Wagon."

And hi Michael, nice to see you here live! (And thanks for your email earlier, I look forward to checking that out.)
  11:03pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

I laughed at the Association reference!
  11:06pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

It's definitely 11th (the parking lot I used to sneak into the back door when it was the Ritz was on 10th Street).
  11:08pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

Does the Pedro Martinez Project make 100 pitches and then lose their fastball?
  11:08pm
john:

But might explain why Pedro said he wouldn't have the opportunity to get in shape for the remainder of the 2010 season when people came calling last summer...
  11:09pm
brittieUK:

yeahp!
  11:10pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans :)
Happe New Year!

S'up EFD?
  11:11pm
Danne D:

Hi Cheri :D
  11:13pm
Danne D:

By the way Evan, I'm quite chagrined to report that my new boss is in fact a Red Sox fan...
  11:17pm
efd:

Danne, I fail to see how that's cause for chagrin.
  11:18pm
cheri:

happy 2011 danne,,,did you have any fun and did ya miss me??
  11:27pm
cheri:

well gotta split,,,ty for your company efd,,g'nite
  11:30pm
erika:

hey! your show is really good!
  11:30pm
osvi:

see, someone invent the waterproof radio computer 4G internet radio thing, so i can take WFMU in the shower. Do it oldschool and hang the old laptop in a plastic bag on the showerhead, BAM! Rock it, EFD...
  11:33pm
Danne D:

Hi Cheri :) This place is never the same without you of course. The holidays were good - didn't do anything too exciting just hung out with my sister's family. Went by too fast.

Welcome aboard erika :)
  11:33pm
efd:

Thanks Erika!

Osvi, I'll get right on that waterproof computer thingy,
  11:49pm
steve:

think i may have asked this months ago and forgotten but whats the talkover music?
  11:50pm
Maybe...:

...someone has this as a one-keystroke macro...
  11:51pm
erika:

i second steve's q! what is it?
  11:51pm
efd:

Joe D. probably does, but I don't think he's here. It's a loop of "Saturday Night" by The Lordz Of Brooklyn, which itself incorporates a sample from The Guess Who's "American Woman."
  11:52pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

Jazz oddysey by Spinal Tap?
  11:52pm
steve:

yayy goblin
  11:53pm
steve:

you know i always thought deep red was better than suspiria, both in movie and in theme song
  11:54pm
efd:

Steve, I agree 1000%!! (And yes, I mean "thousand")
  11:56pm
Danne D:

Have a good night everyone :)

  11:56pm
efd:

  11:57pm
randy in NC:

efd, you could put what your talk over music is at the top of your playlist like Terre T does...
  11:58pm
efd:

I could, but that would spoil the fun!
  11:59pm
randy in NC:

s'pose so : )
