Listener comments!

  9:13am procedura:

Mulatu Astatke's track reminded me of his great show here in Belgrade two years ago. http://procedura.net1zen.com/?p=1279
  9:16am Jack:

Rod Stewart was a great back-up singer and harmonizer.
  9:20am mike:

Good morning, Bob. Debris is one of my all time favorites. It's such a touching portrait of Ronnies's relationship with his father who he obviously adored. I agree with Jack - Rod should have let Ronnie sing lead more.
  9:24am Moldy mind:

anybody going to the Mavis staples show
  9:25am paul:

First concert I went to: Faces/Doobie Brothers in 1972
  9:28am paul:

Beefheart will probably sell more records (cd's) after his death than in his lifetime. I think a lot of people are just now discovering him.
  9:31am Emile:

Hey Bob, nice set. Tuning in from Amsterdam...
  9:34am Emile:

Control plus
  9:35am paul:

If you're on a mac, try going to system preferences.
  9:37am paul:

Computer lessons and great tunes. I love it.
  9:39am paul:

Oh, and I still have one of Kenney Jones drumsticks he threw into the crowd at the end of the concert.
  9:41am blacktooth:

Finally, the connection between Ethiopian Jazz & L.A. vatos.
  9:42am clarke:

oh my! love the faces
i hate the fucking doobie brothers!!!!!!
yawn...snowbound up here on the cape...woke up to screaming - thnx bob! ;]
  9:42am Jack:

@Emile: thanks! The "enlarge font" question came up at my computer class for seniors ( that I teach ) last week, and I couldn't get it to happen! But control plus works beautifully. Thanks again.
  9:52am moldymind:

talk to dweezle the zappa family has unreleased captain material, an entire album never released as a matter of fact... captain recorded for frank's Straight label...
  9:55am paul:

Just realized I have 6 CB songs in my itunes library, all from different VA compilations.
  9:55am Dave:

Bob should start calling his show The Best (music) Show
  9:58am Dave:

  9:59am paul:

Human Touch sounds exactly like someone else from that same era. But not sure who. Like a heavier (no pun intended) version of Spanky & Our Gang?
  10:00am clarke:

The Cake, paul...The Cake is GENIUS!!
  10:01am paul:

The three-girl Cake? Remember them on the Smothers Brothers. Good call.
  10:02am Dave:

To Enlarge Font on Internet Explorer
Same exact sequence as Foxfire.
It appears they have actually standardized the GUI with respect to this function. Amazing that Gates allowed that to happen the way he tries to screw over competitors
  10:10am Dave:

Bill Harkelroad told a great story about meeting C. Mingus when he came to one of Beefhearts concerts. He went over to Mingus and expressed his appreciation for his attendance. Mingus looked through him as if he wasn't even there, said nothing and made no indication that Harkelroad was even standing in front of him. CM was STRANGE.
  10:13am clarke:

the proper name of the EP on Coyote was "Instant Excitement", as there was a cover of Lennon's Instant Karma on it, too.
  10:13am postmanpaul:

I have to admit to having the occasional C. Mingus moment now and again with certain customers.
  10:14am paul:

Aren't all jazz cats a little whacked? Half-kidding :)
  10:18am Jack:

The Yardbirds again! Love it.
  10:21am paul:

The first supergroup without even knowing it at the time.
  10:21am Dave:

Wish channel 13 would play the documentary on Mingus they showed back in the early 1980's. Can't remember the name but i remember the part where CM shot a shotgun through the ceiling of his NYC apartment
  10:23am miketp:

  10:23am paul:

Charlie Mingus 1968 (1968)
58 min - Documentary
A close-up of bass player and composer Charlie Mingus as he and his five-year-old daughter await eviction by the City of New York.
  10:29am Dave:

@Paul -Thats probably it. Thanks a ton man.

The internet is great (until it takes your job and outsources it)
  10:30am paul:

You're welcome. And you're right.
  10:31am clarke:

1951!!!! wow!
  10:31am Seminal:

good morning from Chicago
  10:32am Scott:

Hi Bob, did you ever hear Herman's Hermits' version of Jezebel? There's a great clip of them playing it (live, not lipsynch) on a TV show that definitely belies their reputation as not being capable instumentally. The Lyres also did a great version of it.

thx,
scott
  10:33am paul:

I miss Chicago. Moved to Toledo last May after 28 years in Chicago.
Don't ask.
  10:34am Madi H:

Bob thanks for improving the atmosphere here in NYC as always.
  10:35am moldymind:

thanks to bob for getting up early and entertaining us on a cold saturday morning... i work alot of saturdays and don't get to listen often and it's always a treat...
  10:39am Peter K.:

Hey Bob, I saw NRBQ at what I'm pretty sure was their very last show with Big Al —New Year's Eve 1993-94 at Tramps. I, too, remember Al being unusually happy that night. He told me years later it was because Carlene Carter's record of one of his songs had just reached No. 1 on the country charts, but I think there was at least one other reason. Great show as always.
  10:44am Dave:

Winter is definitely the best season in my opinion.

So is Blood Sweat and Tears song "Sometimes in Winter" which was played on WFMU a couple weeks ago. Lou Soloffs trumpet on that LP was just so perfect.
  10:45am SmokinJ:

Love this cat! Ein Prosit Ingfried!
  10:47am clarke:

winter of '93 was indeed HARSH!! not only 3 feet of snow - but because Big Al quit his band, my band lost its guitar player for a while
  10:50am postmanpaul:

Hey SmokinJ! One of the many advantages of getting old, surely must be, enjoying Ella and Armstrong.
  10:51am SmokinJ:

And then some! Good morning Paulie!
  10:59am Nathan:

Strange... could've sworn at first it was Josh Homme from QOTSA/KYUSS but turns out to be James Murphy...
  11:00am clarke:

nice bob!!
