  9:11am paul:

Mornin' smokinJ
  9:12am david:

Morning Bob. That sure is some nice music to paint my living room to...
  9:12am ?:

Hi Bob
I don't if you know long time listener and supporter of the station (he played at WFMU with Shirk Circus and The Dark Brothers) Joshua Silverman, also touring Bass Player of the Frogs, passed away yesterday. He was an amazing guitar player, lover of all beings, so kind and generous. Please honor him by playing The Frogs or Shirk Circus.... THank you so much. With much honor and respect.
  9:13am ?:

could you please post something at the station? I know there are people there who care for him.
  9:21am jsf:

i love Mulatu Asatke! You're cooking with gas this morning Bob!
  9:21am Looms:

Morning Bob, adding my voice to the kind words.
Sorry about Joshua, RIP
  9:24am SmokinJ:

Hey! It's a party!
  9:26am David:

GO TELL BOB!
  9:27am Jack:

Hey!
  9:36am Morris:

The terry tune had my four year old bouncing arOund the kitchen
  9:56am paul:

Chicago connection: I have a friend who played drums for George Shearing at the Playboy Club in Chicago, and now it's Chicago's own Buckinghams.
  9:58am paul:

This is getting weird. I was living in Indianapolis when C. Adderly died. He was scheduled to play his next gig there. I'm afraid of what's next.
  10:07am paul:

Lounge circuit.
  10:08am RHenderson:

The Crimson piece was gorgeous. I missed that melodic component in KC, seemed to lessen early in their discography. That thread survived in the MacDonald & Giles lp, though.
  10:10am dave:

FLAC rules, Bob!
  10:15am Snortley:

I'm no expert, but here's what I'd do anyway: First, do a real-time recording off the soundcard in HD aiff or wav with a program like Total Recorder, then burn a CD from those files, in CD audio format.
  10:18am Dave:

@RHenderson - Amazing how some songs have an intro that just grabs you. All you have to do is hear the first few notes and it hits you like a drug. The flute on that Crimson song is a perfect example.
  10:21am Dave:

Left Banke was / is so good.
  10:26am RHenderson:

Interesting, your mentioned the XTC/Partridge vs. Rundgren antipathy. Just finished reading Paul Myers book about Rundgren's studio technique. Andy waxes nice about Todd in those pages, too. Who'd-a-thunk?
  10:28am not important:

to extract audio from a dvd, get a program called mpeg streamclip. it's free put you'll need a $20 plug-in (well worth it). turn the dvd into an avi or mpeg4. once you've converted it, click the pulldown menu and go to extract audio. i haven't had to pull audio yet but i'm pretty sure a friend of mine said you can extract lossy or lossless, probably wav or aiff. then put it in your favorite audio editing software, cut into tracks and burn away!
  10:30am RHenderson:

Sheesh, spelling & syntax down the drain. Writing too early in the Californian morning.
  10:32am Jack:

@RHenderson - what's the name of that Paul Myers book? It sounds interesting. Thanks.
  10:36am Dave:

Charlie Hayden did a lot of great stuff with Pat Metheny too.
  10:41am seang:

The Oranj Symphonette does a great cover of Beat Girl
  10:41am Tim from Metuchen:

Haden also did a beautiful disk of Cuban music a few years ago with an all-star cast. I think it won the Grammy.
  10:43am Dave:

Haden also worked with the Plastic Ono band in 1970 believe it or not
  10:44am RHenderson:

Myers' book is - of course - "A Wizard, A True Star" on Jawbone Press.

Never realized that the B-52s lifted the opening J. Barry guitar intro, wholesale, for "Rock Lobster."
  10:44am Jim Duffy:

Some '40s beboppng to round out the show! NIce.
  10:50am Looms:

@RHenderson: couldn't put the finger on it. Rock Lobster, of course! Thx for the refresh.
  10:53am RHenderson:

Thank you, Bob, for another killer installment of your show. And, please, bring Dennis Wilson music next time. The reissue of his 'Pacific Ocean Blue' was such a revelation, esp. his own version of "Only With You" (prev. sung by Carl on the 'Holland' lp).
  11:04pm bill perks:

tom staley is greatly under rated. great to hear him alongside john barry. terry adams' band is just a copy band. well intentioned, but nonetheless, an nrbq copyband. i can't listen to it.
