	3:52pm Parq: That was a nifty version of Close To You. There is also a wonderfully creepy minor-key version on the soundtrack to "Mirrormask". I confess, after decades of listening to NPR, I finally had to give up on it in 2008.

	4:05pm Matt from Springfield: @tr\|sh: At my university we had a one-hour weekly "humor" show I was involved in--it was once broadcast over the surrounding community's cable system, but by then was only on the campus closed-circuit cable movie channel. Yet we were STILL required to stick to FCC language! At the end of my freshman year, they agreed to lift that requirement, but we were prepared to say "skeet" in place of "shit" if they didn't. After all, "skeet" is really a lot worse that shit, but it's allowed!

I'm not talking about Rex on FMU, I mean he's ON THE NYC NPR STATION ALL THE TIME (not national NPR, just here I think), doing liners, in a mock-serious-sounding NPR announcer voice! And he's making fun of them and THEY CAN'T TELL! They think he's serious!!!! (Uh oh, I've blown his cover.) @WTOP: I find your constant news updates peculiarly soothing. Somehow nicer-sounding than WINS.

	4:12pm Robert: Radio people have had all sorts of games going on since forever. The fad seems to have mostly passed, but there used to be a "thing" started by I don't know who (maybe Joe Templeton) for the ABC news announcers to say "I'm [Name]" at the top of the news each hour as fast and sneaky as they could.
	4:13pm tr\|sh: @Matt f S The radio station I worked at had its language police logic up-ended. Contextualizing was the requirement. If it weren't contextualized, we req'd warnings. I was censored over old steve martin comedy one time - his sexualization of senior citizens. The horrors!

Yet we were STILL required to stick to FCC language! At the end of my freshman year, they agreed to lift that requirement, but we were prepared to say "skeet" in place of "shit" if they didn't. After all, "skeet" is really a lot worse that shit, but it's allowed!
