  3:18pm
Julie:

Blow jobs on the comment board? Wow talk about your virtual reality
  3:23pm
Billy Jam:

hey Julie - thanks for posting that link about Dave Grohl's comments on Glee from SXSW from THR - hah ha
  3:25pm
Julie:

Yeah I loved that. I love when people diss Glee :) If you're over 12, you really shouldn't be so hot on it. I would've loved it as a kid. They ruin perfectly good songs!
  3:27pm
Julie:

"JB is in the house" that's Meeeeeeeeee
  3:28pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  3:29pm
IDM adjuster:

  3:31pm

  3:32pm
djspiderman Z:

  3:33pm
Julie:

Spiderman:write a check for $45k please :)
  3:35pm
Sean Daily:

Doing good enough to make a Mouse of the Day Pledge, Billyjamicus Maximus.

BTW, why DO they call it Mouse of the Day?
  3:38pm
djspiderman Z:

coz Rat of the day seems a bit insulting,,,,,,,,,,,, lookin down the back of my sofa for any loose change to send WFMU,, ..rips shirt off back ,,,, looks for envelope,,,,,,
  3:38pm
Billy Jam:

thanks Spiderman - @ Sean Daily Re mouse of today name - forget the answer but that is a good questoon for people here to make up some far fetched answer to --------Meantime will find out exact reason for that name
  3:39pm
Mary Wing:

Mouse of Today pledges are specifically for web-related activity like the webstreams, podcasts and internet schtuff. Computers used to have a mouse, remember? :-)
  3:39pm
Cecile:

Glee is too much like variety shows of my youth, which I didn't like much at all. Having said that, with the way things are these days, being on Glee is the same as being on Top 40 radio. And Grohl never minded that, did he?
  3:40pm
Carmichael:

I remember the mouse! Way before the Thought-Movement Cranial Dome I use now.
  3:41pm
Sean Daily:

Maybe it's called Mouse of the Day because it's SMALL. It's SMALL. S-M-all.
  3:42pm
Sean Daily:

(Mouse of THE DAY or Mouse of TODAY? I oughta know this. I'm the one that made it...)
  3:43pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Ken look cute, no?
  3:45pm
Mary Wing:

Mouse of Today, Sean. Here's the chrology:

Before the station bought the building where we are now happily ensconced, pledges were targeted as "House of Tomorrow" since we had to save up for it. After the building was bought, pledges became the "House of Today" fund. Now that the internet has taken over, the pledges are focused on that.

Or at least, that's how I heard it.
  3:48pm
Mary Wing:

chronology, I meant to type.
  3:49pm
chris:

Hey, hey, y'all! Lovin the show *and* the comments. Much love from Northern Cali.
  3:49pm
Whitey Ford:

I prefer "House of Pain" to "House of Tomorrow" to "All Tomorrow's Mouses" - er Mices
  3:50pm
Mike East:

nice explanation, Mary. That makes total sense...or as much as anything at WFMU. Those House of Tomorrow cartoons were always my favorite as a kid.
  3:50pm
Sean Daily:

That's a shame. I really would have preferred my pledge to be HOUSE! OF! TOMORROW ECHO ECHO ECHO!
  3:50pm
Cheri Pi:

Oui! Ken looks very cute, Le oink!
  3:50pm
Cheri Pi:

Or is it Le Grrrrrrrrrrr???
  3:51pm
Sean Daily:

Thanks for the chrology, Mary Wing, ;)
  3:52pm
Mary Wing:

Get in your time machine and head back to around 1999 and it can happen, Sean.

Chrology sounds painful. Full of swelling and itching.
  3:53pm
Julie:

Used to have a mouse? I have a mouse right here!
  3:55pm
Mary Wing:

That's because you're old school classy, Julie. I was referring to the iPhone/Blackberry crowd.
  3:56pm
Picture Perfect:

Is that Bronwyn C?
  3:56pm
Sean Daily:

"In the House of Tomorrow, all phat beats will be chosen by robots. Brought to you by Conglomo. Conglomo. We Own You."
  3:57pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Ken, le Singe Volant!!
  4:02pm
Sluggo:

yes that is Bronwyn C in the place to me on our anniversary
  4:05pm
Cecile:

hey, Billy, you got any Bill Withers (or the Roots playing Bill Withers)?
  4:06pm
Billy Jam:

this (Bill WIthers like) song fills the Withers need + I will play a ?uestlove shout out later for you - thanks Cecile!
  4:08pm
Carmichael:

@chris: Hey, where are you at? I'm smack in the middle of downtown JerryBrownTown.
  4:09pm
Julie:

Speak of the devil Bronwyn just surfaced on twitter
  4:10pm
Cecile:

thank you, BIlly!
  4:15pm
Sean Daily:

Huey Lewis vs. NIN. RAWK \m/
  4:17pm
Ike:

Hey Sluggo, is the, um, funny character with the high-pitched voice ever coming back to Bronwyn's show? Any comics lately?
  4:18pm
Jessica:

Checking in from the road, hoping the adoptive name is less saccharine than suggestive: rambunctious adaptations all around. http://is.gd/ag54F4
  4:18pm
Timi Dz Nutz:

Fuck Yeah
.....Eddie Def!!! My Man...
  4:18pm
Cecile:

Mmmmm. lengua tacos. My favorite. They have so many delicious varieties in that photo
  4:20pm
Mary Wing:

Why do I have the sickly suspicion that lengua tacos have something to do with an animal's tongue?
  4:21pm
Cecile:

that is exactly what they are. It is delicious. Like pot roast, if done right.
  4:21pm
dudep:

you have hazy memories of learning spanish at some point in your past?
  4:22pm
Sticky Icky:

hey what time is it?
  4:22pm
ALF of Hip Hop Slam:

What up peeps?! Hope you all are having a great day wherever you are. Enjoying the 80 degree weather down here in MD. YEAH!!!
  4:23pm
Mary Wing:

*cringing*
Tongue. Ick.
  4:24pm
Cecile:

to each their own.
  4:25pm
Cecile:

What's your opinion of Tinie Tempah, Billy? I have some of his songs on my Tap Tap Revenge app on my iPod. I like the sound of his voice and his beats, but his rhymes are kind of non-challenging
  4:26pm
Mary Wing:

I'm sure if you just gave me a lengue taco and simply said that it was beef, I'd eat it and enjoy it, but attaching that word just squicks me out.
  4:26pm
Ike:

If I recall correctly, I was surprised that tongue was more-or-less texturally indistinguishable from any other average cut of meat. Can be tasty.
  4:27pm
Cecile:

It's like the best potroast you ever had. But it has to be cooked right. Cooking it with a ton of coriander and cumin is a good start.
  4:28pm
Billy Jam:

@Cecile not familiar with that artist - but check him out
  4:29pm
Cecile:

He's a big star in the UK now - they're looking to break him over in the States (hence the inclusion in the free song section of Tap Tap)
  4:30pm
Billy Jam:

I've heard the name and may even have him (as cameo apperance) on some UK releases from past year - will check to see - thanks
  4:30pm
ben drinken:

that taco stand looks awesome. even has lengua and oreja.
  4:31pm
Cecile:

no prob. As I said, I'm still on the fence about him...
  4:31pm
Cecile:

I could go with a quesadilla with some tinga in it right about now.
  4:32pm
Cecile:

yay ?love!
  4:33pm
Julie:

Knock it off! I'm sure it's too late for taco truck here in JC :( Too late for most anything in this hood but drinking and sushi
  4:35pm
Ike:

What about Ibby's Falafel? Isn't that still over on Grove?
  4:37pm
Cecile:

Don't yell at me, BIllly's taunting us with the yummies!

Oh, it's G.Love, I mean Slug.
  4:38pm
ben drinken:

talking about the green korean taco truck? how is that i have wanted to catch that when i am in the area
  4:41pm
hank:

ok.....
;^)
  4:46pm
ben drinken:

i think the kimchi taco truck also has "kimcheedillas"
  4:46pm
chris:

@Carmichael... workin' out of home instead of Oaktown today, so out in West Marin County
  4:47pm
chris:

@Ben Drinken... MoGo Korean Tacos in the Bay! Off the effin hook!
  4:51pm
chris:

@Carmichael, what do you think about the new Oaksterdam U building painting?
  4:55pm
Billy Jam:

hey Chris on my recent visit to the Bay went to Gordo's on College for a super burrito but it wasnt as good as I remembered it to be. You go there sometimes right?
  4:59pm
Bad Ronald:

Thank You Billy Jam - Excellent show!
  5:01pm
Timi Dz Nutz:

I'm eat'n a Burrito off a taco truck right now. Thats just how we roll in the Bay. @ Billy...Gordo's has always been a "white boy burritos", decent but not authentic. ,lacks taste and they charge too much....Oakland taco trucks are off the hook now...
  5:06pm
trapper:

is this good taco truck in jersey city?
(i'm late)
where is it, by the station? are they there at night?
  5:08pm
trapper:

(i guess i could look it up! doing so now)
  5:11pm
ben drinken:

when i was in Korea years ago there were street vendors everywhere you turn. things on sticks, yaki mandu , jerked squid, ramaen and kim bop rolls. and especially in the wee hours when people need some grease to soak up the drinken.
  5:13pm
Ike:

Same in Thailand and Laos. Mmmm. Definitely want to go to Korea someday and check out the street food.
  5:16pm
Cecile:

I wish there was more cheap street food here. They have the "gourmet trucks". $7 for two tacos and no rice and beans is ridiculous. Big deal,
  5:16pm
Julie:

Trapper yes it's near the station, and no I'm pretty sure they are not there at night. And falafel -- not for me.
  5:16pm
Sean Daily:

@Ben: Things on sticks... mmm, my favorite.
  5:17pm
Ike:

@Julie I hear they have good shawarma too.
  5:17pm
Julie:

There are two taco trucks in this neighborhood. Both fairly good. One is out on its own, the other is usually with the other food trucks and not there every day. That one always has a long line.
  5:17pm
Portlandia:

a real richly diverse & tasty variety of truck food here and not too pricey
  5:17pm
Julie:

Good grief I'm talking tacos again.
  5:19pm
Sean Daily:

@Cecile: There'd probably be more street food if this country (the United States, that is) was more oriented towards pedestrians. Unfortunately, King Car has governed much of city planing in the 20th Century, especially in the suburbs.
  5:19pm
Sean Daily:

Planning, I say, planning, that is...
  5:19pm
Carmichael:

I lived in Korea for a year or so back in the 80s. Street vendors all over the place, with traditional wok stuff, seafood, and lots of Andrew Zimmern things like candy-coated roaches, chocolate covered ants, etc ... Oh, and Kimchi huts, too.
  5:20pm
ben drinken:

soju tents!
  5:21pm
chris:

@Billy, I go to Happy Burrito on Webster... pretty good stuff. Yeah, there's a burrito Gordo up on 24th at Webster that's good stuff
  5:21pm
Carmichael:

Dude, soju makes me crazier than tequila does. I'll stick with OB or Oscar.
  5:21pm
Billy Jam:

good point Sean Daily - never thought about that - but you are absolutely right. Luckily some cities - like SF, Portland, Austin -and finally NYC - are becoming more and more bike friendly - but it is a reversal process that faces political obstacles
  5:24pm
Julie:

strange pic of Trent
  5:24pm
ben drinken:

isn't a decline in street vendors in the us and especially NYC also because of city government working with restaurants? It happens also where i live. restaurants complain to city gov to eliminate street vendors for competition.
  5:24pm
Julie:

@Ben indeed! But there are sooo few restaurants in this area, so I guess it doesn't come up
  5:25pm
trapper:

the tacos over at the taqueria are pretty decent down at the end of grove
  5:26pm
Julie:

I bet Billy wasn't expecting all this food talk! Serves him right for posting that menu!
  5:26pm
Carmichael:

The talk on Bryce's board is always Indian food-oriented. I guess Billy has cornered the taco market, so to speak.
  5:26pm
dc pat:

We're talking bikes and food??
  5:28pm
ben drinken:

wfmu people like and appreciate good things. art, music, radio, and food included.
  5:29pm
Billy Jam:

@ Julie - hah no I wasnt - but I should not be surprised after taking pics of that taco truck in Jackson Heights, Queens (Roosevelt & 75th) - but truck food and bikes are two topics I like
  5:30pm
Cecile:

And it's a chore trying to sell peple who are not used to food truck on the concept. We had a great one called Eat Curbside, but peole weren't going there and they headed for the West Coast.
  5:31pm
Julie:

I think I will start a new radio show: Taco Talk
  5:32pm
Julie:

I guess the next step is Taco Bikes
  5:32pm
Ike:

I hear that Jackson Hts has the best Mex food in NYC. There's not a lot of good Mex. food here. Some people love a place on 10th Ave. in midtown but I wasn't impressed.
  5:33pm
Billy Jam:

hey Julie - great idea - and it would fill the gap left by Car Talk been dumped thanks to the Republicans hatred of NPR and the ARTS - goddamnit
  5:33pm
Mike East:

Which place, Ike? Tulcingo?
  5:33pm
Julie:

NYC mex food is mostly subpar. But that's the opinion of a San Antonio girl.
  5:33pm
Julie:

Get me NPR on the phone!
  5:34pm
Ike:

Yeah that's it Mike East. Maybe they were having an off night.
  5:34pm
djspiderman Z:

great tunes Billy, thanks for allways givin me new chooons and bands to checkout,i been filling my bookmarks with stuff to listen to later, ,,, last time i ate meat =chicken burrito in "the sombrerro" manhattan about 94,, great margerrita machine they had ohhh yes
  5:34pm
ben drinken:

as kids we used to say when a bike wheel got bent almost in half it was tacoed
  5:35pm
glenn:

hmmmm. if san antonio girl isn't a country song, it should be.
  5:35pm
dc pat:

NM food is where it's at. You won't find it on the east coast...
  5:35pm
Timi Dz Nutz:

I got that problem too......
  5:35pm
Mike East:

They're one of the better authentic-ish joints that deliver so that's my go to...they also have juice. Burrito Box has good reliable California style burritos.
  5:36pm
glenn:

and it is. lyle lovett.
  5:37pm
Lyle:

@Glenn - you're right and it goes a lil sumthin like this "She was a San Antonip girl, She been drinkien, and eatin takos - and all my exes live in Texas
  5:37pm
Julie:

@Glenn gosh I may have to play that one. I played San Antonio Rose when I did Betsy's show
  5:37pm
ben drinken:

a better country song. you can't eat my taco anymore you cheatin street vendor
  5:37pm
Timi Dz Nutz:

Tonite in SF there will be 20 taco trucks and 2 bar/beer trucks at one place...check out "Off The Grid"...
  5:38pm
dc pat:

Blue tortillas, eggs on top of enchiladas, green sauce.. Aaaaahhhh
  5:38pm
Julie:

okay show of hands, who is having tacos tonight?
  5:39pm
glenn:

in honour of sxsw somebody HAS to play screw you, we're from texas.
  5:39pm
Carmichael:

@Julie: you probably don't even like beans in your chili ...
  5:39pm
dc pat:

Wish I was...
  5:39pm
Mike East:

sorry, Friday is pizza night
  5:40pm
Julie:

@Carmichael I do because I grew up on Hormel. Mom didn't make chili, and I never got it at restaurants. hormel & fritos at my house in those days.
  5:41pm
Ike:

My visiting peoples will prob. ask for Thai or Lebanese or Turkish tonight. Guess I could suggest Mi Pequeno Mexico in Nwk though.
  5:41pm
Cecile:

I'm making some lovely midwestern gringo nachos
  5:42pm
ben drinken:

i am making tacos tonite. you can take corn tortillas and lay them over the rungs of the oven and bake to make a hard taco shell. I make kimchi at home and going to add that with some beef.
  5:43pm
dc pat:

Lebanese!! Mid eastern is my second fave food..
  5:43pm
glenn:

kimchi tacos. now that's fusion.
  5:44pm

Ben: excellent idea on the shells--been experimenting with that...
  5:44pm
Cecile:

Oh, yeah, DCP. Love middle eastern/Greek food.
  5:44pm
Carmichael:

Don't laugh, Glenn. They are all the rage in Cailfirnia.
  5:45pm
Carmichael:

You make your own kimchi, Ben?? Do you bury it in your yard?
  5:46pm
Julie:

we always used one of those frybaby's to fry those shells and chips. yum
  5:46pm
ben drinken:

i have been making hummus for years from a recipe i learned from a professor in language school who was a real live Egyptian. so potent with garlic and pepper and such that you burp up like propane all day.
  5:46pm
Julie:

@Billy do they have tacos in ireland? I don't remember ever eating Mexican in UK
  5:47pm
Julie:

Yay more taco pictures! I'm loving this, but then I'm bizarre
  5:47pm
Cecile:

We have an amazing Egyptian/Middle Eastern deli here. They squeeze off all the skins from the chickpeas for their hummus!
  5:48pm
Azam:

I can't speak for Ireland, but England has plenty of Mexican places to eat...
  5:49pm
dc pat:

Making good hummus is a fine art which i have not mastered... Dammit
  5:50pm
Julie:

@azam i will have to look next time I'm there. I love trying mex in diff places, to see how they make it. I had some in Montreal even.
  5:50pm
dc pat:

Cecile: huh, wonder if that's the secret...
  5:51pm
Cecile:

I use a lot of lemon, too.

But I wore out a couple of blenders making it, so I'm just buying it these days.
  5:51pm
glenn:

maybe it's just me, but swingers is a crappy movie.
  5:51pm
chris:

Did I just hear RiRa in there?
  5:52pm
Carmichael:

Those are some big-ass tacos! I made fajitas for my relatives visiting from Wexford. They stared at them as if waiting for them to move or something. I think Mex food has yet to hit the Emerald Isle.
  5:52pm
foxy brown:

great show billy jam! awesome playlist.
  5:52pm
dc pat:

Welp gotta go NOT eat tacos, adios.
  5:52pm
Nathan:

England plenty Mexican places... ? They're getting better but the quality / dedication / originality pales in comparison to what you can get in Southern California.. when I first moved here you were lucky to get unseasoned tinned tomatoes on a piece of chicken that they'd call an 'enchilada'.
  5:52pm
Azam:

@Julie...where do you usually visit in England
? I mean it depends on which city you're in as well...
  5:53pm
Julie:

Not a fan of CalMex. whole different deal
@azam Only ever been to London
  5:53pm
Mike East:

I'm out too. Great show, once again. Have a great weekend everyone!!!
  5:53pm
Nathan:

Plus most of the British folks on this blighted island start moaning if the chili temperature hits what anyone else would consider mild.
  5:53pm
ben drinken:

yes, definitely skins off the peas and lots of lemon, balsamic vinegar. good amount of tahini, olive oil helps make it creamier, and a small amount of cumin but not always needed for hummis.
  5:54pm
Billy Jam:

  5:54pm

  5:54pm
djspiderman Z:

  5:55pm
Cecile:

Tahini is a must. I never put in cumin, but sometines just a pinch of sumac.
  5:57pm
Carmichael:

Sumac! Like Tony Bourdain said a few weeks back, "Isn't that a poison?!?"
  5:57pm
djspiderman Z:

  5:59pm
Azam:
