This whole culture of young/LA/Euro DJ Trash seems so fey and trite right now after scrolling over from the NY Times page coverage of NE Japan... Hope they have a cool tour - yeah Community...

Kizomba is also the name of a Rio Carnaval bloco that began in 1984 (so pre-dating the Angolan zouk mash-up, I am guessing). On their site (http://www.kizombadavila.blogspot.com/) they say it's an African word meaning "a meeting of identities, a celebration of the people."

yes this is a community:

Re: Mr. Elliot
I'm glad that your particular form of social justice, social awareness, or whatever you're masquerading your comment as relies upon belittling a group of people sharing their creativity and ideas with all of us in this community--that arguably you're a part of as well given that you are here on this site.
That very kind of self-righteous non-sequitur guilt-tripping (of people who in no way would disagree that the disaster in Japan is truly tragic) done from a distance is the very kind of "fey and trite" engagement that turns social causes into temporary fads. Way to go.
