Listener comments!

  11:10am
Peter:

Greetings from Utah, Michael - where they have a state gun, and now they have #1 Hits pouring out through my laptop's speakers.
  11:14am
DeemerDave:

Michael:
That Clarence Carter version of Harper Valley PTA is just awful. Oh, yes it is now.
  11:16am
Michael:

Dave - we disagree. That version is a #1 hit. See a doctor.
  11:20am
DeemerDave:

I would have liked it if not for the constant "Oh, yes it did now", "Oh yes she did now" at the end of each line.

Still love your show.
  11:22am
drr:

CC's version of "Light My Fire" (on the same album) is fantastic, whatever you think of the original. I like when he sings "No time to while away the mire" with CONVICTION, like it means something.
  11:24am
Modegreen Police:

He didn't sing "wallow in the mire"?
  11:25am
Jack:

70-something? I don't think the temperature has cracked 50 yet. Not to insinuate that I've been outside....
  11:28am
seang:

The Vaselines was the best show I saw last year-
  11:28am
drr:

Nope. Definitely "while away." I know that's not what the original says, but that's what Clarence Carter says.
  11:29am
drr:

What's the state gun of Utah? anybody know?
  11:30am
Peter:

I went to that Vaselines show in New York . I've never seen a more potty-mouthed band.

I'm 46, and seemed to be at least 2x the average age of most of the audience - and then some.

And yet these kids (who all had 'x' on their hands, because they couldn't buy booze0 knew the words to every song.
  11:32am
Peter:

It's the rowning M1911 semiautomatic pistol . Browning was from Ogden.

The state rock of Utah is coal.
  11:34am
Frogs:

We while away the mire every day. Ribbit!
  11:35am
seang:

FRANK!
  11:43am
Mike Doughty:

Michael, I'd like to know the story of those excellent old-style-radio chorus-sining WFMUUUUUUU! Michael Shelley show! recordings. (or does everybody know this already, and I'm totally late to the party?)
  11:51am
~L:

Love the jingles...It is 70 degrees, somewhere, today... nit-picking lyrics by a sight-challenged performer... Everyone go outside for a walk after the show!
  11:59am
Mike Doughty:

Aw nice! Thanks, Michael.
  12:00pm
Red:

"Recuperating" - that was a great song
  12:03pm
mark:

Brilliant segue once again Michael. Two of my favorite tunes - Stubby and Specials.
  12:05pm
drr:

I'm not nit-picking; I'm endorsing! I do think it's kind of a funny mishearing. , but it's not like the original lyric was meaningful either; it just rhymed. P.S.: seeing a Clarence Carter show is a real treat, but you better have your line dancing skills ready.
  12:08pm
Shannon:

Does it qualify as domestic abuse when your husband won't let you listen to the Michael Shelley Show as usual, insisting that he wants to play something "more chill" and then forces you to listen to Thievery Corporation and Air?
  12:13pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

YES! Christine Sixteen!
  12:13pm
mrmucho:

Kiss rules!
  12:14pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@Shannon YES. Yes it does.
  12:16pm
randy in NC:

It's already 72 here in Raleigh. It was 84 yesterday!
  12:17pm
drr:

Mental Cruelty.
  12:17pm
~L:

@drr: you are exempted from the walk.
@Shannon: Stand up for yourself and live radio! Together, we outnumber him.
  12:18pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@Shannon: I think you can find enough "expert witnesses" on this playlist to fill up several mailbags which can then be brought dramatically into a courtroom.
  12:24pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@Shannon, Michael is right! You gots to pull out the rolling pin on that Andy Capp of yours!
  12:26pm
Shannon:

Thanks for the intervention, Michael and listeners! I've already banished him to the bedroom with his laptop -- victory!
  12:26pm
v k:

@michael - ur fueling my painting project with energy akin to meth-amphetamine (soon to arrive daughter's nursery)
  12:27pm
Hit Man:

@Shannon - my rates are affordable. I specialize in domestic issues.
  12:28pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@Shannon: HA! This is a trump card you'll be able to use for many a year.
  12:29pm
Vaselines' Moms:

Those boys.. I could never do a thing with them.
  12:30pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@v k: Have you tried the winning combo of meth AND Michael Shelley's Show? The only drawback is that you post a lot of comments.
  12:30pm
~L:

@Shannon: "He fought the law and the law won!!!"
  12:35pm
~L:

@Shannon: Tell him, though, we commend his listening to reason, and respecting your wishes. And after the show, go for a walk together!
  12:38pm
v k:

@Elisa - ah ur referring to a Speedy #1 Hit Ball - yes i've tried - but it led to excessive eyebrow plucking
  12:38pm
Michael:

the Jonny EP is here:
http://www.turnstilemusic.net/jonny-free-ep/
  12:38pm
Hit Man:

About that walk -- I'll be behind a tree, and then we can bury him in the woods.
  12:41pm
Shannon:

@Hit Man -- No way! He cooks and (sometimes) cleans! I need him around. And he's dreamy...
  12:41pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@v k : If only I'd seen this sooner! Even my swarthy Ukrainian brow is looking a bit thin.
  12:42pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@Shannon: You have skipped over this minor bump in the road with skill and grace.
  12:46pm
Hit Man:

Curses! Foiled again. I never get to have any fun!
  12:47pm
Elias Hit Club Member #040:

@Hit Man: How about X. Ray Burns? He's been seeking death for awhile. He gives his address every Sunday.
  12:57pm
seang:

woo!
  12:57pm
Scott:

Not the real Left Banke!
