Joe McG:

Thanks, John, much appreciated. Thanks, Cheri.
  12:50am

  1:07am
Joe McG:

#K! I know who you are now!
  1:09am
Matt from Springfield:

A Hearty Good Evenin' to ya Joe!
Like this Ponytail--is this their first recording?
  1:11am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt. Nope, they put out another record a couple of years ago. Liz B's favorite record of 2009, if I'm not mistaken!
  1:12am
#K:

*_* yes I am working on big star now... thank you for the MUS-IC I am glad you didn't have a fill in!
  1:12am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Joe! I'm checking them out!
Cheri seems to have left the building, but I'd like to give her a fist-bump in appreciation of the Mighty Mighty Seventies! I was born in '85 and was brought up listening to Motown, British Invasion, Sound of Philly, Pop Rock, Acid Rock, and so much more!
  1:14am
Matt from Springfield:

OOIOO, not to be confused with oOoOO...
  1:14am
Joe McG:

Thanks, #K, it's nice to know you're out there. Matt, you and Cheri may be my target audience, if I have one: 70s Lovers!
  1:18am
Matt from Springfield:

Still loving the 70s! So-retro-its-popular-again may have been in the 90s for that decade, but with Freeform, everything that was--will live on! Pledgers will agree with me that WFMU gives you an almost INSTANT return on your investment!
  1:18am
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, new Flying Lizards reissue! Must be why I've heard a lot of them lately.
  1:19am
Joe McG:

Indeed! I'm glad these albums are back with a bonus.
  1:22am
coelacanth:

Joe i'm switching to airwaves now and hopefully drifting off but Thank you.
  1:23am
Joe McG:

Drift away, my friend, drift away...
  1:25am
trent:

  1:33am
tim:

hi joe. kk is a reptilian shape shifter. great show.
  1:34am
Matt from Springfield:

"AND THOSE TERR-BLE BOOTS"!!!!
  1:35am
Joe McG:

Thanks, Tim! I think KK is one of the coolest guys ever.
  1:41am
tim:

ditto boxcar willie. royal blood lines and all that. no reflection on song writing greatness. go figure.
  1:45am
kiemzi:

chris & i are listening to your delightful radio programme. he is LOADED.
  1:45am
Joe McG:

That is certainly the proper way to listen to this show.
  1:51am
Matt from Springfield:

@kiemzi, Joe: I second that! (toasts gin to audience)

In fact, did you know...when you drop a bottle of gin it CARBONATES, almost like dropping a bottle of soda! Fortunately my bottle had a plastic spout blocking the top, so I got wet but didn't lose the gin I would have from an open bottle. Hooray!
  1:52am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: Actually I love when your show was moved to 12-3 instead of 3-6. One, it's easier to listen live now, and Two, people are still loaded and having fun and making weird comments, instead of passed out and quiet! Hooray!
  1:53am
Joe McG:

Speaking of getting loaded and making comments, wonder whatever happened to Coalhard?
  1:55am
Matt from Springfield:

I was just thinking of him with kiemzi's comment...he is still around, I still chat with him on Julie's show when I catch that live, and I see his comments on other late night shows. Sadly I haven't seen him around here lately.
  1:57am
Joe McG:

I need to drop a few gin bottles on the air, I think.
  1:59am
coalhard:

i'm
  2:00am
Matt from Springfield:

coalhard! The Great CH! Radio silence has ended! The Apollo craft has re-entered safely! Hoo! Ray!
  2:01am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: Now drinking gin at this hour would be fun, but dropping them on the air? I think Ken and Andy would be more enthused about that, seeing how they continually try to find the most radio "friendly" stunts to do!
  2:04am
maestroso:

Just got back from a gig, listened in the car and now home. Not loaded. Now having a scotch, and been digging the show. Good morning everyone!
  2:05am
Marmalade Kitty:

Good morning!
  2:07am
Matt from Springfield:

Welcome to the comments, maestroso! Is that a single malt or blended?

MK, another loyal Night Owl!
  2:07am
Matt from Springfield:

Daddy's Hideaway with Tim! The resident God Of Cyrillic Fonts!
  2:09am
maestroso:

@Matt Just garden variety Dewar's. Still tasty, though.
  2:10am
Matt from Springfield:

Dewar's Will Do It!
  2:12am
Marmalade Kitty:

Hey Joe, what was the back ground music just there?
  2:12am
Joe McG:

That sounds like a slogan in one of those magazine ads in the New Yorker.
  2:13am
maestroso:

These are not my normal operating hours, and it's nice to hear a late night show with all of you. I'll be on the other side of the world for the next two weeks so I'll pop in from time to time on the boards.
  2:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Or "Country Life", the upper-crust British magazine, every other ad (at least in the 70s) was for British Isles liquor or cigs!
  2:16am
Joe McG:

You're going to make me run for the Roxy Music LP, Matt. Also good with Scotch.
  2:17am
Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe & folks from a beautifully sunny UK. In contrast to Matt I liked 3-6 as I could listen live. Not too sure Joe would agree.
  2:18am
Matt from Springfield:

@maestroso: That's as good a time as any to pop in on WFMU boards--when I was in Thailand the only shows I had time to comment on were those right after daily tours ended, the early morning ones 12 hours behind. I think it's fun to listen and comment on the other side of the world--go for it!
  2:19am
Matt from Springfield:

You're right Brian, 3-6 is better for the UK, but as I'm seldom if ever awake before 11 on Sunday morning, that wouldn't affect me!
  2:19am
Joe McG:

@Brian: ha ha. I heard more from Europe at 3-6, but I'm far too in love with my bed to regret getting home to it earlier.
  2:21am
Brian in UK:

Joe, only just seen Reparata was it the lady with the Delrons? What a group name.
  2:22am
Brian in UK:

The wonder of the archives. We can thank Station Manager Ken for the archives as well as most good things about FMU it seems.
  2:23am
Joe McG:

Yeah, it's a bit of a controversial record since two Reparatas fought for the title. Check out the Reparata wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reparata_and_the_Delrons
  2:23am
Matt from Springfield:

Is anyone else imagining an early Bowie when they hear the last singer, Michael Chapman?
  2:25am
Marmalade Kitty:

Joe, what was the music while you were talking? I liked it!
Definately Bowie! Any Roger chapman? what was he called again.. electric goat :)
  2:25am
Matt from Springfield:

@Brian: Yes, the ARCHIVES! That's half the value of WFMU! It's an unprecedented resource you don't see on any other station website--so comprehensive, so easy to search and play! WFMU's Archives prove that you will NEVER be bored, as long as you have an Internet connection!
  2:25am
Julieta:

Almendra ???? I just can't believe this . Spinetta it's THE rock poet of argentina ( my country) Joe I love you
  2:26am
Joe McG:

@ Julieta: big :)
  2:26am
sonic gaucho:

the name of the band is almendra, instead of alemandra, greetings from argentina best radio in the world!
  2:27am
Matt from Springfield:

¡Buenos noches, Julieta!
Great how Joe can make new fans of the Argentinian Alemandra on his show, AND please existing fans of Alemandra as well! :)
  2:28am
Matt from Springfield:

Now a name like Silvio Silveira must be Brazilian, right? Same with "Voce Que Nao Vem"?
  2:29am
Julieta:

ON Daniel Blummin's show I heard Atahualpa Yupanki, Definetly this is the best radio station
  2:30am
Brian in UK:

I think Michael Chapman was ploughing his own furrow. Knowing what a magpie was Mr Bowie it might be more a case of Bowie sounds like MC.
  2:31am
Marmalade Kitty:

Dear Joe, please tell.. sorry don't mean to be a pain! I really liked it! the background music...?
  2:31am
Julieta:

Buanas Noches for you too ! Matt from Springfield !
  2:33am
Joe McG:

Thanks Sonic Gaucho, I'm doing 2:30 a.m. typing.
  2:35am
Joe McG:

Hey, Kitty, I'll mention it during my next mic break.
  2:36am
sonic gaucho:

its ok joe incredible music from las pampas on your show! thanks!
  2:36am
Marmalade Kitty:

you tease me! I also have secret titles for songs!
There it is again :)!!
  2:41am
Joe McG:

Oh, sorry, Kitty, I totally forgot! It's Kevin Ayers from his album "What More Can I Say...."
  2:41am
Matt from Springfield:

Julieta, are you in Buenos Aires?
That way we can wish you "Buenos noches a Buenos Aires"!
  2:42am
Brian in UK:

Oh. Joe. Killer. I'm regressing as I listen.
  2:42am
Joe McG:

This one goes out to you, buddy.
  2:44am
Julieta:

lol ! No I'm not . I 'm in another city , Cordoba ! at the middle of the country , greetings !
  2:44am
Looms:

Good evening/night/morning all!
  2:44am
Matt from Springfield:

I remember Kevin Ayers now, I think he's even commented a few times in praise of you using his music. But for me, that lovely tune will always be the "Single File, and all the world is well" tune! Much like Lee Morgan's "Yes I Can, No You Can't" for Irwin's show!
  2:45am
Brian in UK:

Bonjour, galette consultant!
  2:48am
Joe McG:

Thanks, Matt, for the associations. Alas, that "Kevin Ayers" was only fooling, not the real fellow.
  2:48am
Rob W:

Okay, with Joe having ended his previous set with a track from Uruguay (although we've moved on), I'd like to tell any NJ listeners awake (or listening to the archive) about my favorite new informal dining discovery, Uruguay pizza at 815 3rd Ave in Elizabeth, NJ! A perfect stop on your way to or from Newark Airport (you can enjoy the planes buzzing overhead). Very different from pizza typically found in NY or NJ: For example, thin square slices (cut into smaller rectangles) stuffed with ham and soft cheese, and fainá, a sort of garbanzo bread generally eaten with pizza - which I might add is actually vegan - a dietary option that's rare in most North American pizzerias! (They also have other Uruguayan non-pizza specialties and it's a very bright friendly place.)
  2:49am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julieta: I know where that is! Thanks for enjoying WFMU. There are a lot of listeners all over the world, but you, and sonic gaucho are the first Argentines I've chatted with. Joe is happy to make you happy!
  2:50am
Joe McG:

Cool, Rob, thanks for the excellent dining tip.
  2:54am
Julieta:

WFMU sorprise me each day even more . I really glad to found this station . 3.53 sunday morning here I can't stay far away from you guys .@ Joe Thanks a lot !!
  2:55am
