I love the shows you do with Bob, can`t wait to hear part 2. Before i saw this video clip, I tried to picture in my mind what his collection looked like, it`s more organized than I thought. A VERY nice collection. Thanks for all you do Mac. You`re GRRRRRREAT!.
  1:18pm Matt:

Fantastic program. Many gems here. that Goodwill cylinder is very interesting. As they mention radio, it must be sometime in the 1920's time I guess? :
  2:52pm EricW:

Excellent show, Mac! I'm inclined to agree with Matt re: the Goodwill cylinder; since WOR didn't exist before February 1922, that would seem to mark the earliest likely date of the cylinder. Could the recession the announcer's talking about be the tail-end of the one in 1920-21?
  6:34pm Anon:

The 1st cylinder, "Home Sweet Home", is by Charles P. Lowe, a popular vaudeville xylophonist who made many records in the 1890s and 1900s, and also playing other percussion instruments for Columbia and Victor.
  6:45pm Anon:

Oh, forgot to mention something: The 1492 Company is Rice's 1492 Company. The anonymous home cylinder sounds as if they're singing "the [powers?] of God", and I think I heard "the power of grace" in there too. A Sunday School choir?

The E. L. Newhart record is interesting because it seems like the performer's last name is the same as comedian Bob Newhart!

Very good collection, especially Issler's Orchestra!
