Bonjour Ken
Bonjour listeners extraordianire.

(to all commenters that already know this, i apologize, but i need to tell Ken)
Ken, thanks to my 2011 marathon t shirt, Colin Newman and Graham Lewis recognized me in a crowd during a Wire gig in Paris. And that led to a 30min discussion with Mr Lewis. So (again) thanks wfmu for giving me the chance to talk (and laugh) with long time idols ! (btw, they were so nice, and joyfull)
  9:15am Catch Phrase Police:

@hamburger: May I see your permit for that first posting?
9:17am Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

  9:46am Stevel:

Obviously, snake radios will be the hot WFMU fund-drive premium the next time around.
  9:47am blip:

This is awesome.
  9:48am Cecile:

how did that invitation happen?
  9:49am dc pat:

Ken: yep, when I read about that I had to re-read it 3 times to make sure I wasn't seeing things. THE PRESIDENT WILL BE THERE WITH KENNY G!
  9:49am Ken:

Fox news still going berserk over this.. oh if they only knew who ELSE was on the bill..
  9:53am marq:

wonder if kenny g will try to make the president down a bottle of whiskey and recite get the cake
  9:53am Stevel:

Kenny G is AN ANIMAL!!!
  9:54am dc pat:

It would be cool if Kenny just started reading weather reports for a half an hour.
  9:58am Cheri Pi:

I love anything Lorette Velvette
  10:02am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ) ):

i'm diggin' this backround music now ! \:D/\:D/\:D/
  10:03am pierre:

who is Kenny G ?
  10:04am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ) ):

@pierre there's the one that play the soprano sax that looks like a big shiny claranet then there's the other Kenny G...
  10:06am dc pat:

oh man, I gotta check out the 7 second archives. pot brownies are shouldn't have done that.
  10:06am pierre:

yeah, i'm interested at that one…
  10:06am pierre:

yeah, i'm interested at that one…
  10:06am PMD:

And to think your wife made the brownies...
  10:07am jeanne:

wow Ken!
  10:07am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ) ):

it's better to make "tea" the brownies just last too long , tea is like a hit of ,,, well use your imagination
  10:07am jojo:

you just can't take the new hi-tech kush hybrids
  10:08am Aaron in JCity:

That was you??
  10:08am Michael:

These days, sometimes if there's a question no-one can answer and I want to use a mobile device to look something up, while I'm keying away I'll say, 'We're not living in the Middle Ages...we have <em>electricity</em>.'<br/>
These are the weird years: post-Google, but before the Implant.
  10:09am dc pat:

digging ditch: you only liked it because you didn't HAVE to do it. It sucks when your boss is standing on the edge of the ditch watching you.
  10:10am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ) ):

@ what is your Bactrian Support Network? It's an online virtual freak out tent ...
  10:12am jojo:

on vacation in florida with my family we dug a ditch--my brother in law brought a real shovel to the beach, anyway it was really big especially with the hill next to it, we had cops and geesers complaining about it, tourists getting their picture taken next to it, and tractors coming out to level it at sunrise--highly recommend the amorphous ditch/mountain/moat at the beach, esp in geezer rich florida, fun for the whole family
  10:13am Michael:

Alcohol resulted in people drinking higher- and higher-proof drinks; cocaine prohibition encouraged the development of crack and 'base, opiate prohibition moved people more away from opium toward needle drugs----admittedly, none of these worse things would have been absent, but it's a matter of incentives. Marijuana prohibition has screwed up a THC/CBN/{everything else} profile that took centuries to develop (since the introduction of smoking it, around 1520) and based on one developed over literal millennia before that.
  10:17am Fartman:

I love this track!
  10:17am dale:

as long as you weren't wearing a pair of orange coveralls, you dig away, my friend. i had to fill a 250 ft long electrical service trench by hand a coupla weeks ago. such joy.
  10:18am Leo D. Bronstein:

Digging ONE ditch can be fun; spending your life digging them?...almost certainly not. Pharoah supposedly would join his Hebrew slaves for a morning to work along with them...then demand that they keep to that level of productivity, day after day,.....
  10:20am jan:

Song for Ken by Her Highness is killing my joy!
  10:21am Lizardner Dave:

So THIS is what your brain sounds like on pot brownies. Fascinating.
  10:23am pierre:

"putain comment elle m'a mordu cette salope!" = ^_^
  10:25am βrian:

Say, is that supposed to be a slight of badger grammar? It's "fewer" weasels.
  10:25am Michael:

"[The] New, True, Story of Sada Abé"
  10:28am Ken:

Brian, the weasels don't deserve propergrammar.
  10:30am βrian:

We shall recall.
  10:32am βrian:

Now that I think of it, we could just make those non-count nouns: More badger, less weasel.
  10:36am Ken:

That works Brian! Or to apply it to the US Electoral Milieu, More Pathetic, Less Evil. More Kitten, Less Honey Badger
  10:39am still b/p:

"Nothing really mattress" is a line from "Bohemian Napsody."
  10:40am CHΣKIJIAN:

Ken, who should I e-mail the pictures I took at the last SSD ?
  10:41am Ken:

Jack, please destroy them.
  10:43am todd from fargo:

request: "drugs, drugs, drugs". it is still in my head from when i first heard on your show a few weeks ago.
  10:43am pierre:

  10:43am Carmichael:

Good morning, Kenneth and terrestrials. Ken, please start the picture.

  10:47am Vivian:

I will be at Gulf Shores for the Rapture. Hopefully with a margarita in my hand.
  10:47am ginak:

I like the business opportunities that the rapture presents, especially pet care.
  10:48am Dan B From Upstate:

I know better. I know nothing is going to happen. I really do, but why do I start to freak out a tiny bit whenever the end of the world is discussed? This May 21 business or the end of next year? Why do I have a mini-freak out?
  10:49am listener mark:

I, for one, welcome our new evil overlords.
  10:49am Vicki:

I just emailed you Ken
  10:50am hamburger / london:

Hi Pierre - when did you receive your marathon T-shirt?
  10:50am Carmichael:

I hope there's nothingness.
  10:51am Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings to Ken and all the listeners.
  10:51am <X><X><X><X>:

YES @ Kenneth Gold @ White is going on wit h that?
  10:53am Wendy del Formaggio:

Sigh... I miss Kenny G. When he was dressed as a rabbi on that marathon day, he also was carrying around a bottle of Jack Daniels, so as to completely gild the lily.
  10:54am jojo:

i saw "duck you sucker" the other night, the kenny-G background music was the ennio morricone theme punctuating each the whitehouse? someone did not do their homework...
  10:56am Vicki:

someone DID do their homework
next thing - the US will actually fund the arts, right
  10:56am pierre:

@ hmaburger : two weeks ago
  10:57am CHΣKIJIAN:

RE: 10:41
The entire Mac has been thrown in the fire.
  10:58am <X><X><X><X>:

btw that last bit of the sign - intergalactic you were talking over was ridiculous...made the rest of my office listen to it
  10:59am Turbo:

  11:01am Wendy del Formaggio:

Right on, Vicki! I think it's perfect that Professor Kenneth Goldsmith/Our Kenny G is reading at the White House. We need more like him representing the arts in the USA. Oddballs unite!
  11:02am hamburger / london:

ah okay. thanks pierre. (I'm still yet to receive my stuff but I guess there's so much to go through :)
  11:04am moose:

there were some people taking pictures at the 7sd show, anyone know if any can be found on line? i remember ken's face looking a bit frozen in an odd smile after a point
  11:06am βrian:

Badger image repaired:
  11:06am <X><X><X><X>:

  11:06am Ken:

Sorry Moose, no pictures were posted.
  11:07am jojo:

  11:08am paul:

  11:10am βrian:

  11:16am hamburger / london:

  11:18am listener mark:

final sign of the apocalypse, I've inadvertently memorized the songs on Ken's radio programme
  11:19am paul:

"if you're a fan of don henley, you're in luck" made me lose it
  11:19am Carmichael:

The final sign of the apocalypse IS Ken's radio program.
  11:19am still b/p:

You can't download 'em, but could stream vintage musical or spoken selections for us, from the thousands on the new Library of Congress National Jukebox site. "WARNING: Historical recordings may contain offensive language."
- Movin' man, don't take my baby grand!
- An Irish-Dutch argument
- How Mother made the soup
- A talk on married life
  11:20am OM:

You hate salamanders! Why?
  11:21am paul:

all these soundbytes and no corn weenie?
  11:21am Lewis:

@Brian - so there are at least 3 of us in the general vicinity of the home of Badgers
  11:22am FOFO:

hola everybody! I'm late as usual but happy to be come here.

Now I'm ready for my math question *turning ON my calculator*
  11:23am βrian:

I know of one "Chris" and a "Michelle from Green Bay."
  11:24am Laura L:

I hope Kenny G can put in a word to Ms. Obama to invite Ken to play soundbytes for the whole nation, live and direct from the White House.
  11:25am Happy Listener:

Ohaiyo Bakkayaro!

We're all gonna get LEFT BEHIND!
  11:26am Stevel:

"Well we're movin' on up..."
  11:26am dc pat:

I want some RIGHT behind too.
  11:26am Dan B From Upstate:

Think Kirk Cameron is getting excited?
  11:27am rst-wiley:

Name that date... 1986?
'3 major news networks'

It's not the 90s, is it?
  11:27am ~L:

We need the Doctor! Has anyone seen the Doctor???
  11:28am Happy Listener:

@dcpat: that would be turning the other cheek
  11:28am Sean Daily:

The President and the Cabinet have disappeared? ZOMG IT'S THE SATANIC RAPTURE!
  11:29am Michael:

And the NEAT thing is that since all the Elect were raptured up, all those people who died went STRAIGHT to eternal torment.
  11:32am Dan B From Upstate:

These news reporters don't sound overtly evil. Why didn't they ascend?
  11:32am FOFO:

I have seen a great number of poorly Photoshopped images in my time as a photographer and I can tell by the pixels that that pic at our left is a fake
  11:32am Carmichael:

If I can't have nothingness, then the Castle Anthrax would suffice.
  11:33am dc pat:

FOFO: but it says right there "Actual Unretouched Photo", how can you doubt that??
  11:33am Christian Mike:

Ha ha. Did you see what happened after I was raptured out of my speeding tanker truck? I LOVE being a Christian!!
  11:33am moose:

seems pretty jerky for jesus to do
is it jesus doing this?
  11:34am still b/p:

Debbie Harry could make a very nice dollar this week doing Rapture parties.
  11:34am dc pat:

moose: no it's his douche-bag father...
  11:35am listener mark:

Luau party at the lake of fire, near the river of blood. It's potluck, so bring a favorite covered dish, see you there.
  11:35am Dan B From Upstate:

News Reporter: "Well, folks. Looks like I'm as big a jerk as the rest of you. We can all look forward to flaming death within the next six months. Who would have thought the president was a better person than me?"
  11:35am FOFO:

dc pat:

No, this looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
  11:37am Christian Jill:

Hy Mike, that was NOTHING compared to what happened when I left the nuke plant. Stupid infidels.
  11:39am Dan B From Upstate:

So this must be the aforementioned Rapture set. Excellent!
  11:39am FOFO:

I also think today program is shopped. I can tell from some of the soundbites and from listening quite a few Ken's shows in my time.
  11:40am Happy Listener:

This picture is beyond shopped. It's DAZ comp'd on a photo.
  11:40am Happy Listener:

I also think it's over a decade old.
  11:41am Christian Joey:

Hey! That's me on the left, next to the guy in the red shirt. I guess I was forgiven for what I did to my sister, right Mom? ...Mom?
  11:42am Lizardner Dave:

  11:42am Julie:

ah the genius/headache that is Kenny G!
  11:42am Vicki:

this is making me sad for no apparent reason
  11:42am old news:

Unfortunately, beyond 1994 Camping is not likely to recant his prophecy or repent of his teaching. When September 6 arrives, then September 17, and when October 1, 1994 comes and goes, what can we expect to hear from Camping over the worldwide Family Radio network?
  11:43am Michael:

Dan B: These folks freely admit that it's nothing to do with being 'good' or 'bad'---Hitler could establish a Personal Relationship with Jesus in a femtosecond between firing the gun and dying, and he would get eternal salvation whilst miliions went from the camps into eternal torture.

It's Who You Know...and most of these guys are Calvinists, which means that they think there's nothing you can do about it.
  11:44am Mark:

that damn Cross Bronx
  11:44am Vicki:

"there was no elegant way to get out of that one" that will be said later somehow I think!
  11:44am CHΣKIJIAN:

RE: 11:07
The entire block housing the residence is ablaze.
  11:44am Happy Listener:

...and the world doesn't actually get destroyed after the shee- I mean believers get raptured up. That's just bs to draw 'em in. The earth is a farm, and the true believers are tasty, tasty souls. "God" only needs a few every millenia.
  11:45am Vicki:

there's a rapture due in Rome today, did you know? Well OK, a huge earthquake is predicted there
  11:46am Mark:

is is appropriate to refer to Steve Martin as a "comedian" rather than as a comedian
  11:46am FOFO:

I want to get raptured to the seventh floor of this building. Is a long way up there.
  11:46am Happy Listener:

c'mon, Jesus makes several references to the "flock", comparing them to livestock and grain.
  11:47am hamburger / london:

if ken was in a completely blank white room i bet he'd still have so much fun by himself
  11:48am FOFO:

hamburger / london:

Yeah, like singing to himself The Rubber Room.
  11:49am DICTATER:

I got my swag, 9000 miles away and there it was only three weeks after the marathon, ubearavable
  11:49am dc pat:

dammit, somebody has ruined my day with a meeting so I can't watch Kenny. Hope I can find an archived version later...
  11:49am jojo:

i found the british sea reports better, we did the traffic report thing over 10 years in grad school to generate chaos based operative constructions
  11:50am Michael:

Happy Listener: Would that would bring a better world---but I'm afraid that a good chunk of those left would become Believers afterward, and even more extreme than our current set. We're not fundamentally better people than they, just luckier in our raising and.or our wits, and from our ranks could easily be gathered yet another load of sh--- believers.
  11:50am still b/p:

Maybe those people in the photo are Leaping Beryllians.
  11:50am listener mark:

If I were in hell, I would still listen to WFMU.
  11:51am dc pat:

hey, anything goes in hell
  11:54am Carmichael:

That's it, Nillson baby. Jump into the Fire.
  11:55am Josh:

this song was made for gifs
  11:55am Lizardner Dave:

Rapture colon backslash Kenny G comma zero comma zero comma zero Nilsson.
  11:55am randy in NC:

Jump Into the FIre, hey maybe James Murphy knew the Rapture was coming all along and that's why he ended LCD SS?
  11:55am Ken:

I just had to delete a comment because somebody came on here hawking their book on Amazon when everybody knows that there is NO WAY Amazon will get it to you before May 21st. Sheesh.
  11:56am aaron in chicago:

i get all my stuff delivered by an actual Amazon
  11:57am Mark:

the loon who is predicting the end of the world May 21 previously claimed the rapture in 1994, but explains that he did not take book of Jeremiah into account in his calculations so there
  11:58am DICTATER:

I see how it is, wfmu can shill all they want but when someone wants to promote and independent project you delete, I have known, and supported, you for years sonicly Ken, but never thought you were hypocrite.
  11:58am rst-wiley:

helluva musical ending, there, Ken
  11:58am Happy Listener:

@Michael: that's just part of the plan
  11:59am Decartes' cart:

I think, therefore I Amazon.
  12:00pm Happy Listener:

It IS Fatty Jubbo!
  12:00pm FOFO:

I'll buy your book. No worries. I memorised your URL. But what was after the ,0,0,0,0?
  12:00pm Happy Listener:

Continue to do a good, show... Ken.
  12:01pm Carmichael:

See you all up there.
  12:01pm Happy Listener:

  12:01pm Vicki:
