	12:31pm Carmichael: I was just playing with some editing software this weekend, and it was a pain in the ass. It takes a lot of patience, organizational skills, and dedication to the vision of your finished product. None of which I possess, which is why I gave up. Kudos to Vicki!

	1:28pm still b/p: In South Africa last month, beer choices were slim, and at a hotel bar, I drank, of all things, a Carling Black Label! A name I hadn't even heard in the US since long ago.

	1:31pm Carmichael: Boy, you'd think SA would have a ton of beer, given the climate. I used to drink a beer called Mamba, but I don't know which part of Africa it was from.
	1:33pm bobw: DC used to have my favorite brewpub in the world, BARDO in arlington. but that's long, long gone capitol city isn't bad. and there's a dogfish head brewpub not far out of DC. and dominion isn't so bad.
	1:34pm still b/p: There's some SA microbrew activity, I guess, but sadly no signs or sips of it at all in the places I stopped. I wondered if it was ripe for a better beer boom.

	1:45pm still b/p: Allagash Brewery makes a Curieux aged eight weeks in Jim Beam barrels. Mm, good, but not for volume drinking.
	1:46pm dc pat: john: let me be clear--I'M WALKING. if it's more than a mile away from 20007, forget it. zoot: see above, but I'm more of a bourbon/Irish whiskey guy.

	1:47pm Carmichael: From Brew It Up in Sacramento: Bourbon Barrel Honey Porter. This robust porter is fermented and aged in select Bourbon Barrels direct from the Heaven Hills Distillery, the whiskey, oak and vanilla notes of the barrels intertwine with caramel, chocolate and roasted malts while the strength of the beer (9%) is boosted by the addition of varietal Starthistle Honey, 6/10oz snifter.

	1:56pm BSI: Meridian Pint in my 'hood does pretty well, decent variety of taps etc. But we're still not there yet, considering how overcrowded EVERY place gets. The pub-to-population ratio is still turned on its head somewhat.

	1:58pm john: also.. if you can bear to go to georgetown.. i always like the selection at paradiso, and that downstairs bar
	2:00pm dc pat: yeah, g-town...never went there specifically to drink brew.
	2:02pm john: i think it's called Standard - the new place that is.. yeah, georgetown is the worst, used to work there. but the beer selection at Pizzeria Paradiso might be the best in the city that i can recall
	2:04pm dc pat: really??? jeeze, I'd think Brickskellar or RFD could make that claim. Deff going to check it out now. I just never spend any time in gtown.
	2:07pm john: well, they have less stuff than brickskellar for sure. but more focus on american craft beers... maybe 15 on tap, and even more bottles/cans, and they change it up often. Brickskellar does the whole beers of the world thing.. so you end up with 4,000 pilsner variations.. can't remember if i've been to RFD though...
	2:08pm dc pat: good point, see what you mean. RFD is about the same (same guys??) but they do like Belgian beer.

	2:31pm Ike: I've never heard that entire Darlene Love song. The really interesting bit, "just because he doesn't do/ what everybody else does..." is sampled and looped over and over again somewhere, but where? I can't recall. Anyone?

	2:07pm john: well, they have less stuff than brickskellar for sure. but more focus on american craft beers... maybe 15 on tap, and even more bottles/cans, and they change it up often. Brickskellar does the whole beers of the world thing.. so you end up with 4,000 pilsner variations.. can't remember if i've been to RFD though...
