Bonjour all, its my treat of the week !
  6:04am
Meghan:

Good morning all! Ohhhh, Helsingfred.... I wouldn't even know how to begin to say that! ha!
  6:07am
Dave B:

Phonetically - HEEva HwOHmentah

(I think)
  6:08am
Robin The Fog:

I hope this isn't going to be an expensive show today, Meghan! The last time I tuned in I ended up spending £20 I didn't have on rare 7's!
  6:09am
bennett4senate:

Tighten Up is some good 'putting away music' music
  6:09am
Meghan:

ha! it makes you put the albums away fast! with a little foot wiggle in between!

I can make no promises Robin.....
  6:10am
Dave B:

@bennett - ya gotta "tighten up" the collection
  6:11am
Elwyn:

Arrg! It's too tight! It hurts now!
  6:12am
dem tights:

also good music for general cleaning/tidying up :)
  6:12am
Chuck:

Are you sure this is James Brown, Meg? I know Archie Bell & The Drells originally did this song and it sounds just like him...
  6:12am
dem tights:

hint hint bennet
  6:13am
Dave B:

what to switch to when coffee just doesn't do it anymore? I've been up since 4am...
  6:13am
Meghan:

It is..... I did the same thing too Chuck. I had to recheck it cause it sounded just like the original. Shazam it and it comes out as James brown too....
  6:15am
Robin The Fog:

Dave - How about a nice cup of Earl Grey?
  6:17am
Chuck:

Consider the possibility that Shazam is wrong. Don't think that was JB....
  6:17am
pierre:

how come you have an animated .gif Bennett (twitter wise) ?

@ Dave B : yeah the same, i've decided to put my head under cold water every 30 minutes
  6:19am
Meghan:

Chuck..... look up the album

http://www.amazon.com/Soul-Pride-Instrumentals-James-Brown/dp/B000001E0K
  6:19am
Dave B:

@Robin - might just need to give it a shot. I have a big tin of Iranian Darjeeling as well...

@Meghan - Sorry I never got anything your way this week. I would have sent the Hendrix/Redding @ Monterey disc. now THAT is a classic. Have you had a chance to mess with that sound card doo-hickey?
  6:20am
Meghan:

I haven't yet. I plan to today or tomorrow. This week flew past me so quickly!
  6:23am
Dave B:

@pierre - that vinyl your ripping, I'll email you direct from the 'book. I dig the cover of that Armenian / Turkish artist you posted
  6:24am
Chuck:

Oh, and here I was thinking that the group was actually there now. Then again getting a musician up at 5AM isn't likely...
  6:26am
Dave B:

Wait, so what's the theme next week, besides the interview?
  6:28am
dirty old man:

Woke up and checked; yup I'm alive. Yippee!
  6:28am
pierre:

yeah Dave B, pas de soucis when ever you feel like it !
I think i'll finish with the ripping by the end of the week.
  6:28am
Meghan:

Ah, it's a dance theme. I love the idea of a London theme, but I think I will be "traveling" this summer. This time over seas instead of the US
  6:29am
Dave B:

W00T! - scouring the library now!
  6:30am
Robin The Fog:

I actually thought at first it was a colours theme today. Al Green then James Brown then Otis Redding. But I see now that last one might have been pushing it somewhat...
  6:32am
helsingfred:

I've had a weekly meeting scheduled at the same time as your show start.. but THAT sumbitch has been MOVED :-D
  6:32am
Chuck:

Wow. It was just revealed last Friday that Sammy, a DJ at WVKR, is the illegitimate son of Bobby Darin. Sammy's my pal!
  6:33am
Meghan:

ha! Hadn't thought of that! Colors for the artist, not the song! hmmmm, wonder how much I could do with that....

Woohoo! No meetings allowed during show time!
  6:34am
helsingfred:

there's a Play button here :)

  6:34am
Dave B:

For next week:

Rionerr Riichiichii (as my ex's dad used to say)

http://youtu.be/OdQDXs75Ulo
  6:39am
Dave B:

hey, do you keep track of the songs that have been cut from week to week? If so, how about a "Leftover" theme?

It would be totally non sequitur, but what the hell...
  6:40am
helsingfred:

+1 for leftovers theme
  6:41am
Meghan:

I don't..... I should have. I am trying to think of a way that I can mark things off so that I know it has been played before. I wanted to do a leftovers theme for the food shows.
  6:41am
ex:

hiall...when is this live performance happening? thx
  6:43am
Meghan:

Morning ex! around 7:30ish.
  6:44am
ex:

oh ..great ..
  6:46am
Dave B:

@meghan - if using iTunes you can either use the check box field, or what I have been doing is get info on the track (command + I) and use the "comments" field.

I think that field can handle 255 characters, so you theorhetically could track show theme, date, played or not with some creative notes. A little labor intensive, but it soothes the OCD beast in us all...
  6:48am
Meghan:

Hmmmm, I was thinking of the check box, but then you can't play that song in general. So I may have to do the other method, which I did not know about! So thanks! My OCD thanks you!
  6:49am
Chuck:

OCD?
  6:50am
Meghan:

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.....
  6:51am
pierre:

whoa, The Specials are really speeding this song !!! Are they really this hurry to finish their gig ???
  6:51am
ex:

ohh.
  6:51am
Chuck:

I would have figured it out eventually. It's early yet...
  6:52am
Elwyn:

Colours theme musicians:
Jack Black
Frank Black
Jack White
Tali White
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Simply Red (hell no)
Al Green
Deep Purple

I've been using some nutty smart playlists to sync music that hasn't been played in X months and meets some other criteria into the iPod. Makes for some fun rediscoveries!

Chuck:

Sportin' too much damp-osity! I'm tired of wet!
  6:54am

  7:16am
Chuck:

Wish G'Kar was big enough for me to slam dance with!
  7:17am
Meghan:

The idea of a cat slam dancing is kinda funny....

Hi pierre.
Thanks Meghan for the Jawbreaker song.
  7:20am

  7:25am
Dave B:

  7:28am

@Dave and Chuck: Jane Badler is performing a gig in Sydney next month. I think she does one show each year in Sydney. Don't think any guinea pigs are coming.

No F@#KING WAY, Elwyn! I can't stand fat cats! There's no reason for anyone's pet to be overweight...
  7:42am
Chuck:

Dave B:

Back on the "Raptor" theme for a sec. I have a friend who's an American Baptist reverend, and a super cool dude. He sent out the following via Facebook the other day:

Which does lead to an interesting thought. Is it harder for God to rap-sure a fat dood than a skinny guy? That could be a whole Christian health craze "Get thin for the rapture!!!!" Rapturerobics!

And YES he's kidding about it!
  8:12am
Lonious Monk:

  8:23am
mohawkdave!:

Holy crap, that was AWESOME, Dave B!!; Regarding the slam dancing video: How I've never seen this I do not know! Although being well-versed in the moves, I never concerned myself with terminology (except for our own terms such as the "North Jersey Stomp" (Industrial). I'm personally very fond of the "Pickin' up Change" and "Creepycrawler" terms! Thanks Dave B.!!
  8:24am
Jeff P:

UNCE! UNCE! UNCE! UNCE!
  8:26am
Chuck:

OH, THAT'S IT! VOLUME GOES TO ELEVEN NOW!
  8:26am
PKNY:

Who needs 5 Hour Energy when you got the MC5? Thanks for playing!
  8:27am
Meghan:

Oh Mohawkdave- my slam dancing terms were the rice picker, the windmill and starting the lawnmower....
  8:27am
pierre:

@ Meghan : i'd just throwing this, but you could have played only 3 songs (MC5, Man or Astroman, and The Who + the live set of True Widow) and this would already have been perfect. So imagine how i feel…
  8:28am
Meghan:

I aim to please Pierre.... aim to please!
  8:29am
Jeff P:

AC/DC? oh, I'm up now!
  8:29am

  8:31am
Dave B:

Sick Of It All are playing next week at Webster Hall. The "Black and Blue" bowl with Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front and others. 2pm all ages show. Alas, I cannot make it...
  8:33am
Meghan:

Oh jeez... I wonder if Jeff knows about that..... he is already going to see Cave In tonight and Converge next week. Gotta represent our friends from Massachusetts! (plus old band mates...)
  8:33am
Jeff P:

oh good god the rock is just not stopping today! Feinberg must be lovin' it!
  8:33am
Dave B:

Wow! Kiss two weeks in a row!

When can we expect some RUSH!
  8:34am
Chuck:

Damn! Wrong time to think of it, but something off of Lou Reed's "Rock 'N' Roll Animal" would have been great here...
  8:35am
mohawkdave!:

@Dave B: so.......your're not old enough for an all ages show? I'd love to see agnostic front! But webster hall....hmmm. How much $$?
  8:35am
Meghan:

Feinberg isn't even listening right now! he's at school now, so he'll have to catch the archives....

Chuck I had something off of that, but cut it, due to lack of time.
  8:35am
pierre:

(just a quick announcement)

there is this very cool event during the Villette Sonique Festival in Paris (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=223504564327355) so if you're there and want to discover/meet new music, come ! its not close to the USA, but its worth it. I'll be on the Heia Sun stand.
  8:35am
Jeff P:

she needed to fit in something from "Exit... Stage Left"
  8:37am
Dave B:

@mohawkdave - $35 in advance $40 at the door. http://event.websterhall.com/

and I think I'm a little TOO old for the mayhem that'd most likely ensue!
  8:37am
Meghan:

Awww man. I wish Pierre! I want to be going to Primavera too! hmph. lowly web dj doesn't get to go on trips.....
  8:38am
glenn:

hmmm. nothing from humble pie - rockin' the fillmore. merely the best live album ever.
  8:39am
Meghan:

Dave, when Feinberg went to see Rorschach play not too long ago, he said it was an old man pit. I like old man pits. They are much nicer, since they are afraid of getting hurt cause they have work the next day!
  8:40am
pierre:

not a problem Meghan, i'll do you a complete "compte rendu", and send you all the (interesting) bands i'll be discovering.
  8:41am
Chuck:

I never worry about getting hurt in such. Old yes, but too small of a target for most to hit! heheh...
  8:41am
Meghan:

woohoo! thanks!

Dave B:

@meghan - last time I willing joined the mosh was at Bad Brains 2006. Much to my own chagrin, in the clip on BWOTB, at about the 1 minute mark a bearded Dave B can be seen climbing the monitor (stage left) to prepare for such a feat of insanity.

I lost the hood from my jacket that night!
