Brian in UK:

Am I late for your Wednesday show or early for the Drummers'? Know 'em dead in the aisles, kid.
You know, I have no idea what that means! Hey, it's Friday.
  8:43am
Amanda:

And happy Friday to you, Brian! Anytime's a good time for the train wreck that is Nazario Scenario...
  9:01am
Drummer Some:

And awaaaaay we go! Have a wunnerful show Amanda!
  9:03am
Amanda:

Yay! Thanks Drummer! So happy to fill in. Happy trails.
  9:04am
marcury:

Good Morning!, so glad to be able to catch part of today's scenario.
  9:06am
Amanda:

Awesome -- I'm happy you're here, marcury. Hope no one takes away your air conditioner.
  9:07am
Parq:

Drumsum, stop stalling and get out to the garage. Mornin', Miz Naz, take it away.
  9:09am
Amanda:

Here I go Parq! Welcome! I hope Doug is on the road already, because there are a lot of mistakes coming up that I don't want him to hear.
  9:09am
Drummer Some:

Parq, you are so damn right! Hi Marcury. Peace, love and Rapture to all!
  9:10am
Drummer Some:

Amanda, what would the surface of Mars be without huge honkin' craters? OK, now I'm really going...
  9:11am
jill:

safe travels drummer - i am strapped in and ready to go, Miss Amanda
  9:13am
Amanda:

Yes Jill! Strap in and don't forget a crash helmet.
  9:14am
marcury:

Drum Some, kiss Brooklyn for me!
  9:15am
still b/p:

Doug - If all around you later today you see torment and horror and decay and smoke and blight, fear not. It is not the judgment upheaval and punishments, it's just northern NJ.
  9:17am
Amanda:

This is the exciting track that Scott recorded here in the studio made up of an all-staff and volunteer band.
  9:27am
seang:

there's no link for the show on the main page
  9:29am
Amanda:

Should be there soon... thanks, eagle-eyed seang :-)
  9:33am
still b/p:

Being on the Drummer Some email list for wicked current notifications & playlist links has saved me from bitter exclusion a few times, and it's much appreciated.
  9:35am
Amanda:

I hear you b/p -- my life changed so much, for the better, the day I signed up for that list!

Link is up now.
  9:39am
jill:

can i find this album on one of the Mining the Audio blogs?
  9:41am
Amanda:

I am not sure... but if it turns out it's in a Mining The Audio Motherlode post I'll be pretty excited...
  9:43am
Amanda:

(because I'll be, like, "NAILED IT")
  9:47am
ndbob:

morning amanda and everyone!
  9:49am
Amanda:

Hi there ndbob! Hope you are enjoying a lovely pre-Rapture morning.
  9:50am
ndbob:

agreed .. i've been reading the mining the audio..... posts for a long time but just recently signed up for the list
  9:51am
ndbob:

yep... rainy and ominous out:)
  9:54am
Gesu "Bambino" Sinatra:

Come fly with me, let's fly let's fly away...
  9:55am
Amanda:

Acapulco Bay is nice this time of year
  9:57am
Brian in UK:

It was put together by Honest Jons. Mr Albarn has links to the shop & label but I think he had no connection to compiling the comp.
  9:58am
Amanda:

Ahhhh, you are the greatest. I should have known you would know. I think I heard him promoting it once and was misled.
  10:01am
Brian in UK:

It's a great little shop at the top end of Portobello Road. A 'must visit' WHEN you come over here.
  10:06am
ndbob:

I've ordered CD's from Honest Jon's.
  10:07am
Mike VL:

I need to stop pogo-ing while holding a baby, but I just can't help it. Amanda!!
  10:08am
Amanda:

Good morning Mike and Julia! You can never start them too young on pogo-ing.
  10:09am
marcury:

Great show Amanda, but I must leave for work now. Enjoy the Rapture all, see you next week when Doug does GTDS from Hell.
  10:10am
Amanda:

Have a good last day at work, marcury. EVER.
  10:12am
Mike VL:

Harmonizing , even! Loving it!
  10:13am
?:

uh, uh,uh,oooooh, ooooooh
  10:15am
ndbob:

Great Connie song here.
  10:15am
Amanda:

it's like when you can't help harmonizing with that guy who sings the Beatles songs in the 14th st. subway tunnel.
  10:16am
Mike VL:

Soooo good, kid!
  10:18am
ndbob:

The flip of "Navy Blue"
  10:18am
ndbob:

and the intended A side
  10:21am
Brian in UK:

Got to cut & run down to Somerset to see my sister. Will catch the rest of the show on archive. Keep it coming.
  10:23am
Amanda:

Whelllll, I had no idea that you were a girl group person ndbob. I'm learning so much. (Maybe you have Gaylord's premium?)

Mike, I'm so thrilled to have you here! I'm at the station now, come by more often (in person) when your paternal duties permit it. She said selfishly.

Brian -- have a wonderful siblingly visit and a great weekend!
  10:23am
Richard from Venezuela:

Nazario scenario twice in a week. #winning
  10:25am
Amanda:

#flattered
  10:25am
ndbob:

I don't have the premium but I've heard his show... I've been a girl group fan for ages.
  10:28am
efd:

checking in! And, back to work.
  10:28am
Amanda:

You and me both, ndbob. Sunday afternoons, give him a listen!
  10:29am
Richard from Venezuela:

Listen atom heart mother by pink floyd until the armageddon.
  10:29am
ndbob:

will do:)
  10:32am
ndbob:

The Strummin Mental comps are great!
  10:32am
Amanda:

Hi Evan! I don't have internet in my new place which is the only reason why I didn't say something hilarious on your playlist about "13 Women" the other night.

Richard -- you could do worse, I guess...?
  10:33am
ndbob:

Which version of "13 women" did you play?
  10:35am
trish:

Those instruments at 45 rpm sounded good.
  10:36am
Amanda:

I know, they did!!!
  10:41am
Amanda:

ndbob -- efd is obsessed with the Renegades' "13 Women" reissued on Norton. As are we all, now, partially thanks to him.
  10:44am
ndbob:

That's a 60s version? You should check out the original by Dickie Thompson - late 40s I think - and Bill Haley's version.
  10:46am
Amanda:

The static you just heard was the result of me fiddling too much with the temperamental DJ mixer in studio C.
  10:49am
drr:

Thumbs up for Cagey Cretins!
  10:52am
efd:

it's funny, I was sitting here at my desk thinking "this song sounds REALLY familiar" during the Rockspurs song. Amusing to check back on the playlist and find that it's from my premium!

ndbob, I've heard the Bill Haley and Ann Margaret versions and they're both fine but neither slays me like the Renegades' rendition. Haven't heard the Dickie Thompson one though, I'd thought Bill Haley had the original. I'll check it out.
  10:53am
Amanda:

Thanks for the love of Cagey Cretins, drr! You and Matt don't have the same tastes. More on that in a second.

Phew, efd, glad you jumped in to talk "13 Women" with ndbob -- I was about to, but felt it wasn't my place. :-)
  10:55am
jill:

Richard - side "A" may take longer than the actual rapture. But ready for it with my Floyd all cued up (or is that "queued up"?)
  10:55am
ndbob:

Bill Haley really changed the lyrics - the original has nothing to do with nuclear war.
  10:59am
efd:

ah, I found a page with the lyrics to the Dickie Thompson version; looks like it came out in '54. Interesting to see how nearly everyone who's covered it since has changed the lyrics to some degree. I may need to prepare a monograph.
  11:02am
ndbob:

Sounds good - didn't know it was that late - ty:)
  11:03am
still b/p:

And I'm telling you Jack, one rubbed my back
While another one rubbed my head.

That'd be rapture enough.
  11:05am
ndbob:

Secret Treaties is my favorite BOC LP.
  11:06am
drr:

I agree on BÖC! You have to get pretty deep in the catalog before you find stuff to not like [flips over "The Revolution By Night", cues up "Veins" again...]
  11:06am
efd:

I like Blue Öyster Cult, and I will defend to the death your right to like them too.

Well, maybe not to the death but at least until people start yelling really loudly.
  11:06am
Amanda:

Sigh. No matter what the show or timeslot, the playlist discussion always comes back to 13 Women.

ndbob -- I like Cultosaurus Erectus best I think...
  11:08am
Amanda:

I am VINDICATED! Thanks, all you Blue Öyster Cult rocky kindreds.
  11:10am
drr:

Secret Treaties is the best. Saw them once in a hot parking lot and they ended the encore with a sing-along of "Dominance And Submission."
  11:12am
ndbob:

My favorite BOC song is "Astronomy".
  11:17am
Richard from Venezuela:

New Cave In record, leaked.
  11:22am
vern:

hello! just checkin in
  11:23am
Amanda:

<3 vern
  11:25am
ndbob:

skip and flip!
  11:26am
efd:

Any song that starts off "I hear you been callin' me ugly" is a guaranteed winner.
  11:27am
Richard from Venezuela:

hahahahaha, yes it is.
  11:27am
Amanda:

This, efd, is true.

ndbob -- Who was left to play Skip and Flip when the YouTube video didn't buffer fast enough? It was I, it was I
  11:28am
Mike Sin:

Workin' remotely... and listening live. Cool! Hey, is that "Speical Olympics" EP on colored vinyl? I see the 45 around w/o the pic sleeve a lot more than with...
  11:30am
efd:

have to run to a meeting, will catch the rest on archive. Great show as always, Amanda! And hey Mike Sin!
  11:33am
Amanda:

Bye efd! (for now.)

Mike -- yeah! It's yellow. The Westsider had a bunch of them, I don't know if the sleeve counts as a picture sleeve, it is not much of a picture.
  11:34am
Amanda:

This song is dedicated to Evan because he has to go now.
  11:42am
still b/p:

Praise the Lord and push Amanda's mission.
  11:43am
Amanda:

Shucks b/p. The mission is nothing without YOU!
  11:43am
ndbob:

Interesting version of this song.
  11:54am
jesse:

1995 is the year I got expelled from high school
  11:55am
ndbob:

In 1995 I was working as a freelance indexer - sitting at home surrounded by mountains of records.
  11:55am
ndbob:

excellent show amanda!
  11:56am
Amanda:

Congratulations Jesse! I hope you went to your 15th expulsion anniversary.

ndbob, sounds pretty nice. Ah, the Clinton years...
  11:57am
jesse:

thanks! 1996 was the year I was re-admitted to that school so everything worked out
  11:58am
Amanda:

Thank you all for your nice comments, and thanks to everyone who listened! Doug will be back next Friday morning, apocalypse notwithstanding.
