Listener comments!

  3:12pm
Adam in Portland:

Fantastic start today!
  3:13pm
Adam in Portland:

Sound is solid and I can't wait to hear the set from Battles Mk. II.
  3:13pm
than:

I noticed that Gonjasufi, Kode9 & The Spaceape and Jamie XX are in the lineup for today but NO broadcast for them. How come?
  3:14pm
Adam in Portland:

Seems like the BBC would carry those sets.
  3:14pm
Brian Turner:

schedule for today's broadcast on the home page wfmu.org but here's whats up today/tonite:
3:30 The Monochrome Set
4:00 Pere Ubu (plays the Modern Dance)
5:15 Deerhunter
5:45 Kurt Vile & the Violators
6:15 Soft Moon
6:30 Za!
6:50 Einsturzende Neubauten
7:30 Davila 666
7:45 Prince Rama
8:00 Dean Wareham (plays Galaxie 500)
9:15 Swans
10:30 Pissed Jeans
11:00 Animal Collective
  3:15pm
Adam in Portland:

WFMU is bringing us so much great music today. SWANS!
  3:16pm
Laurie:

So the Man U/Barca match started about an hour ago. I'm curious if any bands were performing then.
  3:16pm
than:

@Adam in Portland Got any links?
  3:17pm
Laurie:

So jazzed about the monochrome set and dean wareham. excited about pretty much everyone being broadcast, actually. STILL MAD AT JARVIS. he is constantly breaking my heart.
  3:19pm
Noah:

Jason is looking very KOOL!
  3:21pm
Noah:

Where's Liz & Brian?
  3:22pm
Noah:

hey you guys, can you make the volume a tad louder?
  3:25pm
Ike:

Really enjoying Battles a LOT!
  3:25pm
Adam in Portland:

No, it's just speculation since the BBC network programs quite a few very popular electronic music programs. Too bad Mary-Anne Hobbs left their ranks.
  3:26pm
Adam in Portland:

Than: Essential Mix special of some sort?
  3:26pm
Brian Turner:

@ than: Those three artists' management said nay, (or just didnt get back) also....generally primavera gets its electronic sets happening very late (430am in some cases). We can usually grab a few on the first and second nights (last year we aired some).
  3:27pm
Adam in Portland:

Thanks, BT, for the facts. :-)
  3:28pm
Ike:

Well @Laurie, at least Jarvis was nice to Pseu when she ran into him later, so that might sorta make up for it.
  3:30pm
Adam in Portland:

Hey, Noah!
  3:30pm
than:

Thanks Brian! Too bad they didn' agree though...
  3:32pm
Julie:

I like the flashy gif...where did I put my Sound & Safe glowstick...
  3:42pm
other david:

ahoy hoy, back for more...

listening to wfmu instead of watching the champions league final, the transition is complete :)
  3:43pm
Brian Turner:

Sorry about the cutouts. Its the Festival's internet end, we've got them on the case...
  3:44pm
Laurie:

MY FAVORITE MONOCHROME SET SONG RIGHT NOW. don't read into it.
  3:45pm
Noah:

Hey Adam in Portland!!
  3:45pm
Noah:

hey Ike, wait, same Ike as always?
  3:47pm
Ike:

Yes that's me. I think. As far as I know, I'm not a clone, shapeshifter, or doppelgänger.
  3:49pm
other david:

that's precisely what a clone, shapeshifter or doppelganger would say...
  3:49pm
Ike:

Good point.
  3:51pm
Adam in Portland:

Other David, Sir, hello.
  3:52pm
Adam in Portland:

And, Julie, hello, hullo, to you as well, of course.
  3:54pm
other david:

Howdy Adam, Julie, Shapeshifter Ike, Noah, Laurie and all the WFMU crew over in Barca :)

*doffs cap*

Monochrome Set sounding excellent
  3:55pm
Adam in Portland:

1-1 in the UEFA match (54th minute.)
  3:55pm
other david:

2-1 Barca
  3:55pm
Adam in Portland:

Now 2-1 Barcelona.
  3:56pm
Adam in Portland:

This will be an excellent day for music.
  3:57pm
frenchee:

love it, even with cut-outs
  3:57pm
Adam in Portland:

Mark E. Smith is firing his tele right now.
  4:06pm
other david:

wow wow wow pere ubu, modern dance is one of my all time favourite albums
  4:07pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Do they have a screen with football on in the Primavera? There must be..!
  4:08pm
Marmalade Kitty:

For the die hard Catalonian! Man-U Boo!
  4:11pm
other david:

3-1 BARCA - GET READY TO PARTY :
  4:11pm
Marmalade Kitty:

3-1
  4:11pm
Adam in Portland:

Spain is exploding!
  4:11pm
Ike:

Good choice for emergency fill-in music for drop-outs there. Makes sense. Formless and ambient, no specific song structure.
  4:13pm
than:

Barça y'all!!!
  4:14pm
dvd:

yeah, the game has its very own stage
  4:16pm
frenchee:

where is DAvid Thomas' flask?
  4:17pm
Flask:

I ain't goin' back out there...
  4:19pm
panda bear:

baros played
  4:19pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Barcelona are like the big boys and Man-U the little ones in a playground game :)
  4:19pm
john (FMG) London:

We got a metro train in Barcelona just after they won the Champions League last timem and the Barca fans were jumping up and down so much that you could feel the train leaving the tracks. It was mental and fun in equal measures. I was sick of the car horns tooting by the end of Primavera though, they're relentless
  4:22pm
other david:

they're sounding awesome - thank you for bringing us this!
  4:23pm
Flask:

They really are. Guess I will go back to DT
  4:23pm
Robert:

Did the Modern Lovers air last night, or am I getting Modern Lovers and Modern Dance mixed up?
  4:24pm
Flask:

Mix up
  4:29pm
randy in NC:

Pere Ubu sound great! Nice mix.
  4:29pm
Adam in Portland:

Right this very moment the entire WFMU tent, and its inhabitants, are being bounced toward the main stage goal posts. Swim for your lives, Sweatin' Sea Mariners!
  4:30pm
andreasheinz:

Where is the doc?
  4:35pm
other david:

barca win

prepare to party chaps and chapettes
  4:36pm
andreasheinz:

Thanks a lot, good bye. This is sooo lame. Brazil, GB, NYC, Cologne
  4:38pm
Julie:

My birds do not like this,I've got an apartment full of screeching..
  4:38pm
Julie:

(the noises that is, not the music itself)
  4:39pm
Carolyn:

David Thomas is so awesome. I wish I was there.
  4:39pm
panda bear:

i hope the animal collective set gets played later in about at least 2 hours, not sooner
  4:40pm
john:

gosh I hope this set is archived.
  4:40pm
other david:

He sounds in top form, Julie - you need new birds!
  4:41pm
panda bear:

what kind of birds are they
  4:43pm
Barbara:

Cannot believe im hearing Pere Ubu live! They sound fantastic, better than back in the day! Hope they come to UK I will be there!!!
  4:44pm
andreasheinz:

Spain is lame. I WANT MY DOC
  4:44pm
Danne D:

Agreed Barbara they do sound great. (aside from the fallout there).
  4:44pm
john (FMG) London:

yeah they sound great
  4:46pm
Danne D:

wow he sounds just like Sting
  4:48pm
Julie:

It's the cockatiels making the din... and no it was just the weird noises they were making, not the actual song part. You think they'd be used to odd noises since I play FMU every day
  4:48pm
Julie:

Hey someone was right...the FMU tent does look like you guys are going to sell popsicles
  4:51pm
andreasheinz:

THE DOC WAS cool 'sigh'
  4:52pm
Vicki - People Like Us:

Barcelona just won the football...
  4:54pm
frenchee:

oh dear, rowdiness. GET HOME SAFE, WFMU PEOPLE!
  4:55pm
Barbara:

i literally haven't listened to them in 30 yrs till about 3 months ago on Youtube, and thought it sounded dated. This is now bang up to date! GOOD JOB GUYS.
  4:57pm
Julie:

what did he do??
  4:58pm
randy in NC:

@Barbara, yeah, I haven't listened to them for a similar amount of time. I saw them at a place called Hurrah's in NYC back in the day...
  4:59pm
Vicki - People Like Us:

wow, Barcelona just cut the goal out with a pair of scissors and are taking it home with them
  5:03pm
andreasheinz:

Greetings to my doc, sexiest DJ ever, happy days
  5:04pm
Marmalade Kitty:

the goal nets are one thing.. Scotland fans took the goal posts!
  5:04pm
Barbara:

Are all the songs off Modern Dance? Thought at least one was on Dub Housing. Need to revise lol
  5:05pm
other david:

Can't get over how well Pere Ubu are sounding!

Barbara - they started the set with some other singles because they had to fill out the hour long set :)

Hm, wonder will the nets be recycled into string vests!
  5:06pm
Vicki - People Like Us:

yes, that is quite a feat - although this was the actual players :)
  5:08pm
Barbara:

That's what i thought ... one was Codex or Dub Housing itself. Memory still ok lol! This has really made my night, they sound fantastic.
  5:11pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Barcelona should have taken the goal posts to crucify Jose mourinho!
  5:11pm
other david:

Is this gonna be archived?
  5:12pm
andreasheinz:

This is a 0,0% match of the Beach Boys. Rather a Reichsparteitag at Nuerberg, 1935, fuckin shit.
  5:12pm
Noah:

Anyone have any chips? or various snacks?
  5:12pm
Julie:

They said they added a few other things to fill out their set
  5:12pm
cheri:

heeey julie...i know that you're busy with the sound fest but don't you agree that we have one thing in common?? we both like "the cake",,is'nt that cewwl?
  5:12pm
Ike:

I've never really been into Pere Ubu before, but this is pretty damn good.
  5:12pm
Julie:

@Noah I have some pretzels
  5:12pm
ex:

BTW BARCELONA HAVE WON CHANPIONS LEGUE IN SOCCER YES ,,,EXTRA KICK UNTO FESTIVAL...peace
  5:13pm
Julie:

oops O'David already answered
  5:13pm
Daniel:

damn Pere Ubu still brilliant!!!
  5:14pm
Barbara:

How does David loook? Can anyone see??
  5:15pm
Noah:

Hey Julie,
Pretzels are good but usually best when drunk, or if not drunk, GREAR coated in chocolate!
  5:15pm
Barbara:

Also i've just realised how much Einsturzende Neubauten influenced by Pere Ubu!!
  5:16pm
Daniel:

@john: yes, I'd also like to know if all of these sets are going to be archived also. I think WFMU want to, but they need permission first?
  5:16pm
Julie:

I'm not drunk YET, but I did buy a new bottle of rum on Thurs :)
  5:17pm
other david:

Julie - give some to the birds!
  5:17pm
Noah:

Yea all have is a bottle of Lysol wipes. and several pieces of paper....
  5:18pm
Julie:

I give them bits...too salty for more than that. It's Deerhunter time!
  5:18pm
Roger:

I would have to agree that this was one of the best Pere Ubu sets I've ever heard!!
  5:18pm
andreasheinz:

Shocking Shit - this is nuts
  5:19pm
Julie:

@Noah don't eat the Lysol wipes..especially if they've been used. I'm wondering right now when I will have time to listen to the entire archive of this :/
  5:19pm
Laurie:

I was so sleepy during the closing set last night. It was the perfect lullabye.
  5:20pm
Laurie:

Fuuuuuuuuuuu I want chocolate covered pretzels now.
  5:21pm
other david:

I just ate two donuts, I think a chocolate covered pretzel would send me overboard -

Hey is this a full Deerhunter set or shortened?
  5:21pm
?:

Chocolate covered pretzels are TOPS!! Yea I decided NOT to eat the wipes, and they are still in the box, so yes clean...
  5:22pm
?:

Adam in Portland: Mark E. Smith is firing his tele right now.

Nope: Mark E. is Manchester City supporter.
  5:23pm
andreasheinz:

WFMU is so lame
I switched to topshelfoldies
  5:24pm
andreasheinz:

  5:26pm
other david:

  5:27pm
Julie:

Boo for the truncated
  5:27pm
Julie:

But still happy!
  5:28pm

  5:29pm
Noah:

I'm sure everyone knows about Gil Scott-Heron.... r.i.p. friend..
  5:30pm
andreasheinz:

  5:31pm
idee fixe:

@heinz: you are all 59 varieties of the magical fruit
  5:32pm
other david:

  5:40pm
Julie:

  5:40pm

it's remarkable that someone can devote so much time to being an asshat.
  6:24pm
Liz B.:

Ok thanks for the feedback andreasheinz, but next time try acting like a human
  6:25pm
Adam in Portland:

Adam in Portland:

Liz Berg, you're the B's knees!
  6:28pm
other david:

Kurt's set was excellent :)
  6:28pm
idee fixe:

i think he's really just spamming for an internet radio site, and maybe someone with admin privileges will erase those references from comments...
  6:28pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Diarrheasheinz - too many baked beans..?
eeew!!
  6:31pm
panda bear:

Yep Panda Bear, you better get your skates on - you're on stage man!
  6:33pm
panda bear:

well luckilly for me thats 8 pm thats only 5 hours away
  6:35pm
Margaret:

Its really exciting to have found such an amazing radio station that I can stream live. My friend Bridget is a volunteer at WFMU, and she introduced me to it when I visited NYC. I live in Boise, Idaho and it lacks much of a music scene as well as a great radio station so this is a nice treat.
  6:35pm
other david:

"In a last minute lineup change Animal Collective had to play without Panda Bear, due to the latter forgetting to adjust his watch to European time - Panda Bear was unavailable for comment as he was too busy enjoying sets on WFMU"
  6:36pm
Alicia Renee:

Zomg merci merci merci y'all--have been louuuuving it!!
  6:39pm
panda bear:

that is right i heard about it, its not because panda bear created the tsss, tsss avey tare wished he always had, takes alot of throat experience to actually enter this vicious sport some might consider even higher than a PhD from whatever school if you go to study the concept of GOD and you actually idk what the hell im trying to say right now
  6:39pm
Marmalade Kitty:

The slits were playing this time last year!
  6:39pm
#K:

  6:40pm
Adam in Portland:

  6:41pm
edinblack:

Kurt Vile was sensational!
Am enjoying the stream now again (The Soft Moon?)
  6:41pm
Adam in Portland:

Soft Moon sounding remarkable.
  6:42pm
panda bear:

  6:44pm
Marmalade Kitty:

  6:45pm
frenchee:

  6:48pm
panda bear:

i think i will make it these events live like this make me differentiate and really appreciate freeform music from the global aspect of what it has become , and makes me not stay narrowminded when it comes to just sticking or being sort of prejudice just cus they are half japanese or something
  6:48pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Za!! This is fucking grrrrreat!!
  6:50pm
other david:

Marmalade Kitty: PREACH! Brilliant
  6:53pm
Marmalade Kitty:

@other david: thanks.. Did you find the weak link in perimeter/check point charlie?
  6:57pm
other david:

@Marmalade Kitty - I've come to the conclusion that an assault by air or sea is the only option, to that end, I suggest we dress in fatigues - land by helicopter in the arena.. and claim we're defecting Libyan pilots
  6:57pm
Marmalade Kitty:

code name:infiltrateprimavera:)
  6:57pm
panda bear:

do you think DJ hazelden, his parents sent him to hazelden and after that is where he thought he had a problem not really with opiates at all actually just probably like some xanax and alcohol, post 23 years of age,
  6:57pm
Liz B.:

All sets from today's broadcast will be archived. YAY!
  6:58pm
other david:

Liz, awesome news :D
  6:58pm
Looms:

Hello there! Just arrived so this is a very good news, Liz.
  6:58pm
Marmalade Kitty:

YAY indeed YAY!!
  7:00pm
panda bear:

still za i like how they started sort of dark and refinned to a more like ummm tropical sound, after all tropical is tropical music no one really knows who the pioneers are
  7:01pm
other david:

this drum solo goes especially well with the strobing gif
  7:02pm
Liz B.:
