A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Adrian in London:

Blimey, I feel like that feller who used to post 'Woohoo, first' at the top of every playlist around here. Hello trouble, hello Troubled listeners.

ffrr:

Good morning Trouble, nice pic. Funny story about Jerry Lewis (from his book,'Dean & Me') smoking a joint passed along by Martin via music dir. Dick Stabile. Imagine Lewis on weed. Happy birthday Dean (& Tom Jones).
  9:14am
Cheri Pi:

Martin Rushent produced this?
  9:16am
chris:

the Human League was my first ever rock concert LOL
  9:16am
Adrian in London:

@ffrr: Dean and Me is such a great book, sad and moving.
  9:17am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv. Earth):

hi everyone, hey Trouble.
  9:18am
trouble:

no martin rushent did not produce that cut. diane kamikaze will be doing a full on martin tribute at 12:30 pm today
  9:19am
Cheri Pi:

My ears are peeled.
  9:19am
Parq:

Human League appreciated here, too. I'm in the middle of Rob Sheffield's coming-of-age New Wave memoir, "Talking to Girls About Duran Duran'.
  9:24am
moose:

  9:28am

  9:29am
hamburger:

  9:30am
Marmalade Kitty:

good morning/afternoon! loving the show!
  9:30am
Andrew:

@Vivian - you just see a girl you like, and you go over and talk to her. Introduce yourself - be friendly - can't go wrong!
  9:32am
Parq:

Viv, he came of age in suburban Boston in the early 80s (and I was in college there in the late 70s, so I know a lot of the radio stations and record stores he mentions). Each chapter is themed on an 80s song, but the book is mainly about having three older sisters, and not being very much with girls in high school and throwing himself into New Wave as a way of life because he sucked at the way of life most of his friends adopted. I'm enjoying it.
  9:32am
moose:

ha!
but you must talk about duran duran
i keep forgetting that part
  9:32am
Vivian:

That is what I've told my male friends for years! But they don't believe me that a simple Hi and what are you reading is all you need!
  9:33am
kwhitehead:

Hi trouble: Just got my premiums in the mail. I won some of your books. I've been perusing them and am curious if you are responsible for those fanciful hand drawn bookmarks I keep coming upon.
Many thanks and great show as usual.

Independent Man:

may Undies and Bras fly in your general direction if you choose to continue the Tom Jones block party.
  9:42am
Swami:

Love Battles. Took em long enough to get a new one out! The Primavera set was shreddly.
  9:42am
postmanpaul:

Anthropologyogyticaly, Tom Jones is a barometer of social conventions; back then, men were men and little ladies new how to please and be obedient :)
And naturally we all love Tom to bits over here in the UK too, Trouble!
  9:49am
jen v.:

this is beautiful! thanks, trouble!
  9:50am
trouble:

but don't you think he was playing with that stereotype? inviting women to throw panties, shocking at the time. love him
  9:53am
moose:

seemed to be done with plenty winkage
(i just looked up 'winkage' to see if it's a real word, and came upon an entry for 'genetic winkage' in the 'elmer fudd wikipedia'- i did not know about this.)
  10:01am
trouble:

moose i heartily encourage non words here, and everywhere, in fact!
  10:02am
trouble:

thanks k whitehead. what books did you get? yes i made the bookmarks
  10:04am
kwhitehead:

The John Cage biography, the birding book and the Greil Marcus collection (straight from the Des Moines Public Library!
  10:09am
jen v.:

trouble, to be fair, there were even more explicit pictures that the esteemed public did not get to see, as much as we all wanted to. (sarcasm heavily implied there!)
  10:10am
trouble:

oooh fab! great john cage book, i own it myself. I thought that was a modern world trifecta!
  10:10am
postmanpaul:

@Trouble, you're right. He's solid, which is why he has endured. And Tom would never have posted no nickers back, unless he had been wearing them of course!
  10:11am
trouble:

jen v you mean he sent more than one? i didn't know that , ick ick and wrong
  10:11am
Vivian:

I know there are a few knitters out there..anyone receive an e-mail regarding a security breach at Ravelry.com?
  10:15am
trouble:

yes i did! did you go to ravelry and check it out? i haven't yet, duh...
  10:17am
Vivian:

I haven't. To be honest, I haven't had time to check out their patterns. I received a second e-mail today regarding the incident. The second e-mail made me suspicious-is it a lure into a hacker's web where they obtain your new password?
  10:21am
jen v.:

@Trouble yup! tip of the iceberg! it's all pretty pathetic.
  10:24am
hamburger:

much fun here today
  10:25am
Jennique:

Oh boy thank for playing this BBoy song. This whole album has had heavy rotation on my iPod. They have restored my faith in their snarkiness.
  10:27am
trouble:

  10:29am
Vivian:

Thanks Trouble, I'll check it out later. Thanks for the BBoys!
  10:36am
Jennique:

My french is very rusty, but I am having problems translating. Are they just singing whatever they want because it is french and exudes sexiness?
  10:45am
v k:

  10:47am
Amy:

  10:55am
