Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

That's it for another episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. After the long 4th of July weekend, followed by visitors from my hometown, I was left with very little time for the production of this show. I wish I'd had more. Thanks to Michael James Fry and Bobby Sharp for giving so generously of their time.

I have to laugh (or cry) when I relaize that NOBODY has noticed that there were only FOUR songs played of the Seven Sizzling Singles. I just ran out of editing time. I'll include them in a future episode, so lose no sleep over it.

I hope you're enjoying your summer so far. Really hot here this week in NYC. I love that. Home to Iowa next month. VERY excited at that prospect.

Guess I'll let you go. Please email and let me know what you think.

dusty@wfmu.org

I look forward to hearing from you. Until then ... take care and ... always remember.

Your friend, Clay

  6:04pm
Clay:

Hello!
  6:05pm
david:

Sizzlers
  6:06pm
phillip:

yello! clay i just recently found a box of Love cereal from Peter Max at an estate sale
  6:06pm
phillip:

that damn thing goes for about 600 bucks now!
  6:07pm
Clay:

Love Cereal ... never heard of it. I bet it looked cool.
  6:07pm
Nght Al:

I GOD didn't exist, man would have todreate him...
  6:07pm
Ike:

Sometimes Clay interviews quite a few insane people. Not that I can talk. I've sometimes been regarded as a few porcupines short of a zoo.
  6:08pm
phillip:

very odd that the band Love would actually go with that back then
  6:08pm
Nght Al:

I meant...If GOD didn't exist man would have to create him.
  6:10pm
david:

Michio Kaku
  6:11pm
Cecile:

Some of his science is actually right. There is a Drake's equation that does that.
  6:12pm
Nght Al:

I worked for Motley Crue, Poison, and the New York Dolls last night. Niki Sixx said hi.
  6:12pm
Cecile:

But it's generally considered obselete.
  6:12pm
Clay:

Carl Sagan does a great explanation of Drake's Equation on Youtube.
  6:13pm
Clay:

Nikki Sixx. I loved his Heroin Diaries. Met him at the old Cat Club once. Very nice.
  6:13pm
phillip:

carl sagan is a great man. i still love watching cosmos
  6:13pm
Clay:

Let me know when your ready for my litany of excuses.
  6:14pm
david:

did he say "hard range of the world?"
  6:14pm
Nght Al:

Tommy Lee wnet 360 and then some last night.
  6:15pm
Nght Al:

My speling is off today.
  6:16pm
Nght Al:

I LOVE the backstage women at the Crue shows.
  6:18pm
Nght Al:

I believe we are genetic creations of the Nefilim.
  6:18pm
Neal:

Heavy, man.
  6:18pm
phillip:

not the same women i would see riding the gravitron in 1987 al?
  6:19pm
Nght Al:

They were all tall and curvy with great rock fashion.
  6:20pm
phillip:

same women that have the stonewash pants, huge hair, withthe feathery roach clip in it and the quiet riot coke mirror just won at the balloon game?
  6:21pm
phillip:

i'm pretty sure the women backstage weren't even born in 87 yet
  6:21pm
Nght Al:

No. These women were young. With custom clothes I'm sure cost a bundle...
  6:24pm
phillip:

the coke mirrors that scared me the most back then were iron maiden, and quiet riots
  6:24pm
frances:

I like this guys theory about the 21st century...
  6:28pm
phillip:

damn this record is just wow!
  6:28pm
Marmalade kitty:

does God evolve?
  6:29pm
?:

I'm gonna go buy some war bonds.
  6:30pm
Clay:

HAha ?
  6:30pm
phillip:

haha funny!
  6:30pm
Marmalade kitty:

God knows..
  6:31pm
Carmichael:

Sorry, that was my comment.
  6:31pm
Clay:

Hi Marm!
  6:31pm
Carmichael:

Out of here, everyone.
  6:31pm
Fredericks:

Nght Al you in Florida?
  6:32pm
Clay:

Fredericks!
  6:33pm
Nght Al:

Yes. I'm a stagehand in the Tampa Bay area.
  6:33pm
Marmalade kitty:

:) evening Clay, interesting show!
  6:34pm
Clay:

Thank you, Marmalade. I wish I'd had more time to work on it. 4th of July weekend was followed by visitors from out-of-town. I thought about playing a re-run, but tried to eek one out.
  6:36pm
Fredericks:

Hey Clay
  6:36pm
Clay:

Hot down there?
  6:37pm
Fredericks:

How were the Dolls Nght Al?
  6:37pm
Marmalade kitty:

sounds good.. hope you enjoyed the holiday
  6:38pm
Clay:

I did, Marmalade. Celebrating our Independence from the ... uh ... tyranny of old. Embracing the tyranny of the new!
  6:38pm
Fredericks:

Not today, Clay. Well kind of for a short time. Now we are blessed with some much needed rain.
  6:39pm
Clay:

Hows your podcast Fredericks? Fredericks Mind Thing. Great from what I've heard.
  6:39pm
Marmalade kitty:

any excuse to celebrate! ;)
  6:40pm
Clay:

Celebrating Eddie the Eagle.
  6:40pm
Ike:

Did you mention Woodside? Were you doing interviews in Queens? If so, then I'm impressed. Or was I hearing things?
  6:42pm
Clay:

No, Ike. Woodstock, but you inspire me to do a 5-Boroughs, 5 Shows series.
  6:42pm
Julie:

It was some kind of Isle of Man holiday too this week
  6:42pm
frances:

Clay: I've always wondered: Do you ever have moments interviewing someone and you want to end the conversation but there's no easy way out?
  6:43pm
Nght Al:

The New York Dolls were AWESOME Fredericks. Classic Ramones-like show.
  6:43pm
phillip:

damn you get some mesmerizing interviews clay
  6:44pm
Clay:

It only SEEMS that way, Frances. Truth is, I only had two interviews this week and I s t r e t c h e d them out.
  6:44pm
Ike:

Actually Queens might be difficult, come to think of it. Supposedly, there are more languages spoken per square mile in Queens than anywhere else on Earth, which might make it difficult to interview people in English. Great ethnic food though. :)
  6:46pm
frances:

Oh no! I didn't mean this piece or any other specific one! Just curious in general. ps: was fascinated when you wound up talking to a member of Old Skull, i still have their cassette!
  6:47pm
Clay:

Ken's in here.
  6:48pm
Clay:

I liked that show, Frances.
  6:48pm
Marmalade kitty:

Hi julie! Hi Ken!
  6:49pm
Nght Al:

FREE WILLIE! Willie Nelson, the 78-year-old country crooner agreed to pay a $500 fine, along with a court cost of $280, but now it looks as though that's not punishment enough according to presiding Hudspeth County Judge. He may face jail time. C'mon LEGALIZE IT ALREADY!
  6:50pm
frances:

The music you've pulled in for this piece is perfect.
  6:50pm
Nght Al:

Throw Willie in jail and let Casey Anthony go free. WHAAAA?!?!
  6:51pm
Fredericks:

"Hows your podcast Fredericks?" Just put a new one up dealing with "Thee Truth". When you get a chance: http://fredericksnprcast.podbean.com/2011/07/04/thee-truth/
  6:52pm
Clay:

TY FDRX
  6:52pm
phillip:

they go too overboard about pot being illegal, we are spending 16 billion dollars a year just towards marijuana, just marijuana by going after nonviolent offenses
  6:53pm
Nght Al:

Pot should be like booze laws...
  6:53pm
Fredericks:

Nght Al, I was afraid you'd say that. I couldn't stomach the other bands.
  6:54pm
my ears are full of fluff already:

open yourself to these things = give in to your delusions
  6:54pm
Fredericks:

Pot should be like cigarette laws I believe.
  6:54pm
phillip:

give it 8 more years or so. just my luck, texas where i live will be the 50th state to legalize it
  6:54pm
Nght Al:

The Dolls are an acquired tast indeed...
  6:55pm
hamburger / london:

some conversation to strike up with a dude on the street :)
  6:56pm
Fredericks:

Boy, have I aquired the taste.
  6:56pm
frances:

Perfect. The interviewee references the Doobie Brothers while the commentors talk about pot. Kizmet.
  6:57pm
fluffy ears:

@hamburger/london: no, not really. it's easier than you think to become a listener of some crazie's monologue
  6:58pm
fluffy ears:

here it comes... here it comes... 9/11
  6:58pm
hamburger / london:

yea - I could imagine, sometimes you just gotta walk away..
  6:58pm
Dave:

Acid?
  6:58pm
Nght Al:

To be honest Fredericks, I was backstage most of the time. I stepped to the side-stage occasionally. How'd you like Tommy Lee's 360 drums? The Crue was heavy on the pyro I thought.
  6:59pm
frances:

What's *your* message of peace and love?
  6:59pm
Marmalade kitty:

I had a similar psychedelic experience after swallowing a lump of POT!
  7:00pm
hamburger / london:

NO WAY MK :)
  7:00pm
Nght Al:

JAH LOVE everyone!
  7:01pm
Marmalade kitty:

Peace!
  7:01pm
david:

great show clay
  7:02pm
not david:

Great show Clay.
  7:03pm
Fredericks:

Nice work Clayton
  7:04pm
Fredericks:

I wasn't there Nght Al, I'd see the Dolls but wouldn't stay for the others I don't think.
  7:06pm
seang:

there's no NY Dolls without Johnny Thunders
  7:09pm
Fredericks:

Point taken,seang
