Familiar & forgotten gems from 50-plus years of music on the darker side, shoegaze, synthpop, goth, psychedelia, darkwave, with unapologetic detours into 70s pop. In a dark night of the soul, it's always 3 o'clock in the morning.

And... it is on DVD. Amazon has it.
Great stereo mix for Last July! And the photo of the Purple Turtle (that maroon-magenta! I must find the RGB code for it!)
I think waking up to goth suits my general early morning mood perfectly :)
How are you, did you rest a little bit after the Clay Vs Fabio ?
(Bonjour listeners, for those who didn't listen the last "Strength trough failure" featured the best dj battle referee in a long time…)
This is a good soundtrack for waking up--I don't listen to the death metal first thing waking up, but if you scream for me to get out of bed, my reaction would be the growl! :)
Just add in a copious amount of coffee !
Now I'm knocking around idea's for a gritty show called Bloody Grim, featuring goths as private detectives, their HQ shall be above a Purple Turtle.
@david: Sounds cool, someday I might be pleasantly surprised to see that on PBS or BBC America!
"Damnit, Grim! How can this happen again, let's roll!"
*they hop out the fire escape and into their funeral hearse, driving to the crime scene*
@ Matt : It is only fair that Julie get to play music, on a soccer pitch, the referee is on the field just like the teams…
And the show "Bloody & Grim" can also earn a cult reputation for playing newer goth bands in the soundtrack, like Last July!
@JCJ: For example, Clay played "Proud to be an American", predictably getting a lot of negative points! It was funny reading those comments!
Though I'm up early for this--the timestamp you see is actually my time NOW!
THIS is why we have, this is why we need, WFMU! Obscure but great choice Julie!
(if i remember right, his version is angry as hell, but not sure…)
I just had to look up when her daughter Tosh was born--2000, less than a year before that release. Imagine Tori singing her baby to sleep with that song! ;)
The music may be dark on the show, but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Must see a doctor about that.
This is why i love your show Julie, i'd never find this to listen to, but i just tune in, and lot of melodies enter into my ear, some of them works on me a lot.

Emilie !! :-D
No dates in Ireland yet and can't afford to wander over to England to see them :(
Glad as well to have pierre, other david and jaycjay in the community!
He already kind of did that with a 1971 solo release of Bowie's "Oh! You Pretty Things"
the wave is Cold in here, indeed.
Check out that one, pierre. Amazing vocals and guitaring. Very noisy but it works!
You seem to be finding quite a bit of great Baltic (Lithuanian/Latvian) music for the show!
Already looking forward to next week :)
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Thanks again Julie
