  9:10pm
Aharon:

Boy, that rvivr tune's another one that should be blasting from car windows nationwide.
  9:10pm
Opening:

Totally on the rails so far, despite the group name. No white lies here!
  9:11pm
Amanda:

Amanda: Bwahahahaha!
  9:21pm
Joe B:

  9:23pm
Stevel:

OK, NOW its summer! Not far to reach!
  9:23pm
Pensacola John:

got me going man
  9:24pm
efd:

I have enough trouble as it is not pronouncing "Pujol" like the baseball player's name.
  9:26pm
Amanda:

This is great news. I first learned about the Cute Lepers when they were on this show back in 2008.
  9:30pm
Julie:

I played Sound of Summer..everyone likes it..it'll be a hit
  9:31pm
john:

  9:35pm
Rex's New Slogan:

cheri:

  9:45pm
Adam in Portland:

Interesting Stooges "Search and Destroy" sounding refrain popping up occasionally in this UO track. Great sounds, EFD.
  9:47pm
ScottC:

that UO track sounds WAY too much like a certain Swerve Driver song... just say'in
  9:52pm
Adam in Portland:

The Liminanas definitely do it to me.
  9:53pm
Dave B:

Checkin in. I'm amazed how you do this week to week..
  9:54pm
12539:

Ok, I'm braving the heat to type in that the liminanas are making me happy.
  9:54pm
Adam in Portland:

When AP Mike hears this song does his mind automatically turn to Joe Puppy?
  9:55pm
efd:

Thanks all for your comments! I'm reading 'em, having a hard time finding the time to respond to them so far!
  9:55pm
Stevel:

12539: You are exceptionally brave to exert muscle energy and risk burning calories.
  10:00pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

  10:04pm
Dave B:

  10:09pm
Pensacola John:

new to WFMU - are you supposed to have a favorite DJ?
  10:11pm
efd:

Pensacola John -Welcome! At WFMU there are no suppositions of any kind. I suppose.

Dave, the very same! And am I correct in understanding that you're programming all or part of the Underwater Theme Park program tomorrow morning?
  10:11pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans :)

Pensacola John - yes, all of 'em ;)
(okay some more favored than others but a name check might give that one away :D )

Don't think I'll be commenting much tonight though - hope to still hit the gym if I can get my ass in gear
  10:13pm
Freeform:

Up to you, John. But keep in mind that you are actually likely to learn the most from the ones you initially don't "get".
  10:13pm
Danne D:

@Pensacola John - the archives are your friends :) all kinds of great stuff in 'em :)

And was that an Aharon sighting!??
  10:14pm
Danne's Ass:

We don't have an overdrive gear. Just for the record.
  10:15pm
Dave B:

@EFD - The "FISH" theme tomorrow is all my own (plus a few requests from Parkies and Meghan) - YAAAA HOOO!!!!

6am - 9am here on the only station that counts!

DOUBLE EWE
EPH

EWE!!!!
  10:16pm
Pensacola John:

  10:19pm
Pensacola John:

Amen Freeform - the stories I could tell - Warm Jets always comes to mind
  10:20pm
Danne D:

Looking forward to hearing you play a Yes instrumental tomorrow, Dave B :)
  10:22pm
G:

Yes's new album, first of original material since about 2001, came out a few days ago. (Yes, I'm helping make trouble.)
  10:23pm
Danne D:

Should put "Yes" in quotes G - I mean there's no Anderson. Not even Trevor Horn. LOL
  10:26pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

http://www.allmusic.com/album/fish-out-of-water-r18795
  10:26pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

^^^^^^^^^ got that record somewhere if only I can find it dammit !!!
  10:27pm
Dave B:

Heheheh - Danne D - I'm lockin the sets down now - lemme see if I can squeeze (Schindleria Praematurus) in...
  10:28pm
Julie:

Put a FB link on your playlist page EFD that's what I did
  10:28pm
G:

Anderson couldn't sing for awhile. Lung damage due to too much long term smoking of something, people say. Squire found A's replacement (for two years or more now) in a Yes tribute band video on youtube. True story.

It is what it is. It's as much Yes as when other people were missing from the "classic" 1971-74 lineup. The crazed yesheads have argued what's real Yes since 1974.
  10:29pm
dave:

as i see it, there are really two options for the next step from feeling of love/love & rockets/fresh & onlys: either the only ones or the young fresh fellows. i'm not sure which one's [sic] correct.
  10:29pm
Hell's Kitten:

noooo...we need news and information..I listen to WFMU for news and information
  10:30pm
Dave B:

@EFD - we were here before the interwebs. Ask KL, RR or SLaP...
  10:30pm
efd:

Julie, I put a link on my playlist index page but didn't think to put one on each playlist - that's not a bad idea.
  10:30pm
Stevel:

I'm loving everything I hear from Art Brut.
  10:31pm
efd:

ha, Dave, I'm just trying to adapt to these modern times!
  10:32pm
dave:

also, countdown to the inevitable wire/art brut mashup in 5...4...3: "i am the psychic in the ointment".
  10:32pm
Dave B:

:-)

Rumor has it, another gathering is in the works.
  10:35pm
Julie:

oh I just put it on the main..not even sure how to put it on each separately...go like EFD he is sufficiently likeable
  10:36pm
efd:

OK, everybody get ready to sing along in a few minutes...
  10:36pm
JMD:

Yah! I was just thinking about this song yesterday. let's get Devastated!
  10:37pm
KP:

More Yo-Yo!
  10:37pm
Dave B:

\m/ (>_<) \m/
~RAWK~
  10:38pm
JMD:

Where is that confounded Devastator?
  10:39pm
Dave B:

@JMD - across the bridge
  10:40pm
Baker's Dozen o Broads:

I'm like a lock without a key
Nobody wants to lean on me
I'm so lonely, lonely without you
Back on the shelf am I baby
  10:40pm
JMD:

ya know that's the first place I looked! I think it's just in my head...
  10:41pm
Kat:

oh it's that song I can never remember the name of.
  10:41pm
KP:

there was a time i didnt mind coming to work because it was only way to listen to WFMU. Then came Belock.
  10:42pm
dave:

DEV UH STAY TUH
DEV UH STAY TUH
DEV UH STAY TUH
(headbanging furiously)
  10:42pm
KP:

what's this song?
  10:43pm
Hell's Kitten:

I'm afraid to bang my head I don't want to end up like Ken
  10:43pm
JMD:

...'cause it's stuck in my fucking head now!
  10:43pm
Danne D:

Well see G :) All Yes is not created equal. That would give "Rhythm of Love" the same standing as "Close to the Edge" - uh, no.
  10:43pm
efd:

There's only one intro I can think of that will stand up to the power of the DEVASTATOR...
  10:43pm
cheri:

evan & julie-- i'm really loving your show tonight,, also you know it's been a week since i turned 30 and i really don't feel that bad anymore,,, thnx for understanding efd & julie!!!=)
  10:43pm
12539:

I wonder how long the 12" version goes on.
  10:43pm
JMD:

Great White Buffalo?
  10:44pm
Modegreen Generator:

"Deva State, uh!"
lather, rinse, repeat
  10:44pm
Hell's Kitten:

they aren't pronouncing it right
  10:44pm
Danne D:

hmm, what comes after 12?
  10:44pm
KP:

More DEvastator!
  10:44pm
cheri:

  10:45pm
Baker's Dozen o Broads:

winkwink, ev is so sexy
  10:45pm
dave:

evan "RAWK" davies
  10:45pm
wf:

Spotify does't have 13 Women in the database.
  10:45pm
Danne D:

yes!!!!!!!!!!

and hey cheri
  10:45pm
Amanda:

True story: I thought of this song when I watched The Wire season 2 every time they talked about the 13 dead hookers in the shipping can.
  10:46pm
Danne D:

wf - you try Thirteen Women?

Eleventeen - that sounds like a variation of a Twilight Zone episode.
  10:46pm
Hell's Kitten:

@Eleven that's like a twilight zone episode
  10:46pm
efd:

OMG Amanda, that is hysterical!
  10:46pm
Danne D:

Hi Amanda :D
  10:47pm
G:

@Danne: Yes just came through the area a few days ago. Very short sets, 80 minutes. Retirement fund time, apparently.
  10:47pm
wf:

I did not.. duh.
  10:47pm
Hell's Kitten:

@Danne get out of my head
  10:47pm
Holly in NC:

Friends of Honking Big Palmetto Bug:
With heavy heart, I must share that Honking passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 after a brief illness. In lieu of flowers, we request contributions towards the furtherance of a "Death with Dignity" act in all states. Thank you.
  10:48pm
Amanda:

Yah, I had a feeling you would laugh at that, for some reason. Hi Danne!
  10:48pm
Danne D:

sounds about right G.

Saw Asia a couple of years ago - Palmer still can kick ass.

LOL, Hell's Kitten :)
  10:48pm
Joe B:

Maybe the Renegades can be reunited for the Norton 25th anniversary party in November.
  10:48pm
Spirit of Honking:

She's a black widow, I tell ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10:49pm
Palmetto Bug Jr:

"Brief illness," ha! You'll hear from my lawyers.

  10:51pm
Hell's Kitten:

Braindead Airhead is also a good name
  10:52pm
Braindead Airhead:

  11:01pm
Astronomer:

Star.
  11:01pm
12539:

Julie is a dark star.
  11:01pm
Holly in NC:

@Danne D - I saw Asia back in the day. Purchased a commemorative baseball jersey - remember where the cover label eyes might fall on an adolescent woman's body? TOTALLY harassed by several high school teachers, my first experience of that nature.

@Friends of Honking - seriously, he was on a hunger strike somewhere & when he emerged he was a shadow of his former self - on his back, wriggling in agony, couldn't get up - so I did the right thing.

Evan - hi! Yay! xo :-)
  11:02pm
Holly in NC:

@Kat - ????
  11:02pm
cheri:

evan,,julie & danne i hope you guys have a wonderful night!!
  11:03pm
glenn:

i think season 2 of the wire is the best. chris bauer is great as frank subotka.
  11:03pm
Honking:

That was my loser friend, Holly. Strictly a decoy. I am awaiting my moment. Don't let the suspense kill you.
  11:04pm
Kat:

@Holly - I'm a-skeered of palmetto bugs! Wasn't sure how you fared in the battle. Sounds like it was an easy victory though :)
  11:05pm
Danne D:

@holly - interesting how those t-shirt designs seem to work, eh? Of course the other cover had a sea serpent playing with um a ball #nothingfreudianthere

G'night cheri

Julie is a modest Dark Star :)

I'm shipping out too (from comments - still will be tuned in though.

Have a great night everyone :)
  11:07pm
Amanda:

Fountains of Wayneeeee...!
  11:07pm
Dave B:

G'night Danne D!

@EFD - I need to get my stuff together for tomorrow. I look forward to your critique...

Underwater Theme Park - TOMORROW (shameless self promotion)
  11:08pm
john:

It's really kind of amazing it took Fountains of Wayne forty-seven years to decide they wanted to be Squeeze.
  11:08pm
glenn:

wasn't red rider tom cochrane's pre - life is a highway band? (i'm perusing the playlist)
  11:09pm
cheri:

julie one more thing,,, talk to ken into having an ealier show in the fall,
  11:11pm
Fountains of Wayne:

Hey Julie!
  11:15pm
glenn:

Tom Cochrane, OC (born May 14, 1953) Canadian musician and humanitarian, best known for his hit songs "Life Is a Highway", "Lunatic Fringe", "Human Race" and "I Wish You Well". Cochrane fronted the Canadian rock band Red Rider
  11:16pm
glenn:

did michael penn write it?
  11:17pm
Holly in NC:

@Honking - I'm so relieved - no wait - is THIS is the love that dare not speak it's name?
@Kat- stay a-skeered, see what happens otherwise?
My housemate just asked me to start his laundry, & my response involved both "last time ever until you start unrolling your socks" and "ask me later, I'm talking to Honking".
  11:18pm
glenn:

michael penn's probably nowhere near as big an asshole as tom cochrane.
  11:18pm
Holly in NC:

Red Rider!
  11:21pm
Honking Big Palmetto Bug:

"housemate"? oooooooooooooooooooooo

show him the dial on the washer. teach a man to fish, and all that....
  11:21pm
john:

Tom Cochrane was awarded the Order of Canada? As thousands of war heroes send theirs back...
  11:23pm
Holly in NC:

BTW Evan, The Smithereens song you played last week (Rings on her Fingers) may be my favorite song of theirs ever, & I hope you can share that with them.
  11:24pm
KP:

Always thought Cochrane sounded like McGuinn, moreso than Petty who thought he had copyright on it.
  11:25pm
glenn:

so was alan eagleson (i know, they took it away.) maybe even conrad black got one.
  11:25pm
KP:

Devastator!
  11:26pm
KP:

Conrad Black? Is he still in jail, hopefully.
  11:26pm
efd:

Holly, I'll definitely let Dennis know - I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that!
  11:26pm
john:

Given that, Glenn, I'm prepared to nominate Bob and Doug McKenzie.
  11:27pm
KP:

The Ampersands! I give them an A plus!
  11:28pm
glenn:

i think he's out on bail, but he's definitely going back, the douchebag.
  11:29pm
KP:

hope he has company in form of that Aussie -------.
  11:29pm
cheri:

evan you're one great dee jay!!! so have a g'night
  11:30pm
KP:

EFD's math questions are easy compared to some.
  11:30pm
glenn:

i think rupert's gonna skate, not that he deserves to.
  11:36pm
glenn:

thee vicars are sorta like the hamburglars, but with better lyrics.
  11:38pm
Holly in NC:

"Housemate" is shorthand for " the guy who cosigned my mortgage & with whom I share a house & a convoluted relationship spanning 20+ years". We're currently platonic best friends with each other & with my ex-husband. So yeah, housemate. @Honking are you jealous ;-) ?
  11:40pm
Honking Big Palmetto Bug:

Uh, I just never did household chores for a housemate. Well, ok, occasionally for a few of the lazier ones... :-P
  11:41pm
glenn:

so, friends with joint checking privileges?
  11:45pm
KP:

efds shows go so fast. Never a dull moment.
  11:46pm
KP:

OK. i got that one wrong. Always more of a words person. What's 68 + 7?
  11:47pm
Honking Big Palmetto Bug:

687
  11:47pm
glenn:

it's, like, a bajillion degrees out. and humid. so why are my cats chasing each other around like somebody fed them catnip speedballs?
  11:48pm
KP:

Thanks!
  11:49pm
Honking Big Palmetto Bug:

NP!
  11:49pm
KP:

is it humid? Wasn't that bad today. Friday looks like the big one.
  11:50pm
efd:

it was pretty humid today. I could see the haze sitting over the Hudson when I was driving to the station earlier.
  11:51pm
glenn:

toronto's humid. not as bad as it can be. tomorrow though - aye carumba.
  11:52pm
Dave B:

See ya soon EFD!

RAWK AWN!
  11:52pm
cheri:

evan have you got any plans for this weekend???
  11:52pm
weather.com:

it's supposed to be 89 in NYC by 9AM friday, and the sky's the limit that afternoon.
  11:55pm
Holly in NC:

@Glenn - My beast are doing the same thing. But with reason - their new flea med doesn't work, mea culpa! Baths for all this weekend.

Note to ALL cat owners -
New Frontline formulations (both name brand & generic) are lame. Aadvantage is the way to go.

3 years of no fleas & I stupidly try to save money, dumb.

Looking forward to 101 F. here :-(

ummmmm. yessss, celsius is metric, i think. is this a trick question?
  12:04am
Comments Board Math Question:

Celsius system makes freezing point of water 0, boiling point 100. so it's 180 fahrenheir degrees from 32 to 212. so 18 F degrees = 10 C degrees.
