Listener comments!

  6:05am
Dave B:

Stayin' cool with HotRod. 85 degrees at 6AM?!?!
  6:06am
angelicaw:

Gooooood Morning!!! Thanks for the post on my faebook wall, def helped me wake up and get movin'!
  6:07am
hamburger / london:

hello!
  6:08am
angelicaw:

I live in TX, I'm used to it being 95 degrees at 9 at night and 85 at 5 in the morning like 8 months out of the year. The only thing that separates TX and Hell is a barbed wire fence.
  6:11am
the bahai llama:

shouldn't be complaining; in sydney it's 45 degrees and hasn't stopped raining for three days. the llams says there's a lot of warming going on... morning Miss Hot Rod, nice snake
  6:17am
chris in london:

show us the shamanic way HotRod
  6:21am
HotRod:

Happy Morning, Good People!!!
  6:22am
Postmanpaul:

Hey HotRod! Hey Listeners! So this is what you New Yorkers are listening to at 6.30 in the morning. Wild :")
  6:23am
the bahai llama:

aw, bring the snake back, it was cool!
  6:24am
pierre:

Bonjour Hot Rod, or when the music transform a dark, grey, wet, boring day, into a beam of love and drums !
(thanks for the kind words and posts)

LOVE IT ALL
  6:25am
Dave B:

@postmanpaul - only those in the know, and not only new yorkers!
  6:25am
pierre:

bonjour to the extraordinaires listeners.
  6:26am
Postmanpaul:

We've got our first sunny day in over a week here in the UK pierre. And remember this: silver linings need grey clouds :")
  6:30am
pierre:

@ PmP : profite en bien, enjoy it :) sun goes well with HotRod's
  6:35am
Dave B:

HotRod - don't forget to grab that DVD...

(someone needs to make an animated GIF from that!)
  6:37am
Ozzy Skateboard:

good morning coffee is done ;)
  6:38am
Brian in UK:

OS pass us a brew, I'm gasping.
  6:38am
maja:

i love these fridays, hi hotrod hi all
  6:39am
maestroso:

G'day Ms HotRod! Nice sounds for the start of the day.
  6:40am
Postmanpaul:

Yeah, Dave B! You know, wfmu listeners are born wfmu listeners, wherever in the world we may be. There's no cure for that :")
  6:42am
HotRod:

CHICHA PERUANA !!!
  6:43am
the bahai llama:

electrician dog slow chasing bandy players along a storm water channel... friday evenings are not a time for llamas to be working
  6:45am
annie:

PMP, you got that sooo right!
  6:49am
hamburger / london:

I remember first tuning into to wfmu like 7 years ago - and just thought it was wayyy too weird - must've been some bryce type show :) only started properly listening just over a year ago...
  6:52am
annie:

i frimly believe that the diversity of djs make the station.. i also give alot of credit to the comments board.. without that, then we would not connect, we would just be isolated pockets of listeners. ..
  6:52am
Dave B:

if listening to WFMU is a sickness, I don't want to be cured....
  6:52am
Izzy:

Good morning HotRod!
  6:55am
fred:

Good morning/afternoon HotRod and listeners!
US listeners, you can send your extra sun rays over here in Paris. I'd need those for Tuesday: there's a band playing with 17 musicians, and the indoor backup venue is just too small
  6:56am
pierre:

@ annie : without the comment board we would just feel weird, now i now that there is other people like me, who make playlist about fish…

Salut fred !
  6:56am
the bahai llama:

pockets should never be isolated, i agree, annie; stitch us up, HotRod, and gut those fish, pierre...
  6:57am
Dave B:

agree whole heartedly Annie. I have met and made some new friends around the world as a result of WFMU.
The common ground that music (and the arts) affords us to communicate as different peoples of this big blue ball is the magic.
Morning Fred and Pierre - you need the heat too?
  6:58am
pierre:

we'll take all the heat we can get.
  6:59am
hamburger / london:

oddly enough weather here's pretty neat given last week was super wet :D
  6:59am
T-Zero:

@annie: Agree about the dj diversity, and it's true freeform natue. Unlike other so-called freeform stations where after you've listend a while disover they're just as redundant as commercial radio. After about 9 months I'm down to pretty much 3 stations that hold my interest throughout the day. WFMU heading the list.
  7:00am
Postmanpaul:

Hey annie! Yeah, wfmu's dj's are disciples. My first intro to non shite-commercial radio was discovering the French station Fip while I was living in Cairo, ten years ago. Five years ago wfmu was recommended during a chance encounter with a stranger in a pub here in the UK. He was going on about a radio station that plays sort of opera (citation needed) music with road drilling machinery in the background (must have been Bryce or Kenny G). That was enough, have been hooked ever since :")
  7:00am
fred:

Salut Pierre!
Dave, I rather have sweltering heat and an outdoors show than rain and a canceled gig.
  7:01am
angelicaw:

Hotrod, these mixes take me back to when I was chillin' in Panama! Sick dance until you can't feel your feet remixes!!!!
  7:01am
Dave B:

Friday is my day for fish
Fish
Fish
Fish
Friday is my day for fish!
  7:01am
hamburger / london:

Feeeesh and cheeeps!
  7:03am
the bahai llama:

Ahhh, FIP. now that's a station, too, though it's the DJs' voices people tune in for. HotRod could do a guest spot next time she's in Paris...
  7:05am
T-Zero:

heh - must admit a couple wfmu shows just wouldn't be same without the voice of the dj.
  7:07am
Dave B:

I love the second hour sets because now I can wake the neighbors!

MORNING!

{WOOMP WOOMP WOOMP WOOMP}
  7:09am
Postmanpaul:

My folks always had fish 'n chips on a Friday, with batter pieces, naturally - and always washed down with a bottle of Tango. Yeah bahai llama, those frenchy continuity girls on the show are much sort after for voice-overs by Paris ad agencies. Strictly speaking they are not dj';s. Those guys produce a 3 hour show in advance and are never featuresd at the same time each day.
  7:09am
the bahai llama:

if you wake 'em with the fiirst hour, then they get to listen to the whole show!?
  7:10am
hamburger / london:

it's a periperi chicken sandwich for lunch today with jalapeno and tabasco sauce -muy spicy!! :)
  7:11am
pierre:

yeah FIP's great (although its a state radio - so sometimes they can be in trouble as the main RADIO FRANCE has gone trough difficulties - like our "president" (not mine) decided that he should elect the chief of the radio)

HEY BELIEVE IT OR NOT : HOT ROD JUST BROUGHT SUN HERE IN PARIS !
  7:12am
fred:

Believe!
  7:15am
Brian in UK:

Hotrod. What do you think of the designs coming out of Alexander McQueens House following his demise?
  7:16am
Postmanpaul:

This is a very agreeable compilation of artists HotStuff :") And I'm not ashamed to admit that I've never heard any of 'em before.
  7:18am
Brian in UK:

Here's Sarah Burton's most recent work that all the world has seen.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14235335
  7:19am
Dave B:

@ Bahai Llama - unfortunately the condo bylaws poo-poo loudness before 7:00am.
  7:20am
the bahai llama:

ever done that thing of streaming in two (or more stations simultaneously? i'm just streaming in FIP now side-by-side with HotRod and well... what can I say? as for bylaws Dave, don't they specifically exclude WFMU?
  7:22am
Dave B:

Sometimes I stream WFMU in on multiple devices at the same time (2 chumby's, a Roku, iPad and laptop) and the millisecond delay(s) between all the devices makes for some freaky echo effects....
  7:23am
Dave B:

as for the bylaws, I'll try for an ammendment (being condo Vice Pres has its advantages)
  7:24am
the bahai llama:

hey, that's a good idea to get some phasing happening. right now FIP's got a soprano singing over the top of HotRod's Ghosthack!
  7:26am
Ozzy Skateboard:

grinding now yea
  7:26am
pierre:

i hear it @the bahai llama !
feels like i'm in a 90's science fiction movie.

(i'll stick to HotRod)
  7:26am
T-Zero:

This Amon Tobin track was the perfect follow up for ghosthack
  7:26am
Postmanpaul:

Ever commentated on a fip song, bahai llama, believing wfmu are playing it?!
Those few secound delays ARE awesome Dave B, I know where you're coming from :")
  7:27am
Ozzy Skateboard:

Surge is nice
  7:27am
Brian in UK:

I've got a copy of Zaireeka by The Flaming Lips, you need four players to hear it & it shows that no two or four machines play at exactly the same speed. Listening devices off the 'net or radio are also a spit out of whack.
Everything you think you know is wrong.
  7:27am
Robin The Fog:

Wow, I'm actually grinding my teeth to this!!!
  7:28am
Dave B:

when I was living out on Long Island - there used to be this low powered jazz station coming out of Brooklyn that must have shared frequency with WSOU. Depending on cloud coverage or ion activity the two would bleed together - so you'd have something like an Exodus song with a solo by Ornette Coleman spattered in there...
GOOD STUFF!
  7:30am
Ozzy Skateboard:

ahh now this is the kind of stuff I hear in my brain (browntime)
  7:32am
Brian in UK:

I've clicked onto the radio stream when wanting the Drummer stream. Took me a while to realise then was enjoying it so stayed. Hey.

OS Too much cafeine!!
  7:33am
Ozzy Skateboard:

hehe I don't hear voices in my head- I hear instrumentals lol
  7:34am
Postmanpaul:

Bye HotRod! Bye Listeners! Gotta get out in that sun 'n get things done. Have a good weekend one and all :")
  7:38am
T-Zero:

PMP: Enjoy the sun. Here at 108F at 7:30 am, think I'll keep avoiding it.
  7:41am
annie:

i was walking across the street yesterday... it really DID feel like a sauna.. .. breathe in that hot air.. awful..
  7:41am
Postmanpaul:

Don't leave that pith helmet at home T-Zero :")
  7:42am
angelicaw:

T-Zero, in the name of all things holy that's like living in an oven. i'd avoid contact with the outside like my life depended on it.
  7:43am
T-Zero:

At this rate, it could melt and be a permanent part of the anatomy ;-)
  7:44am
Ozzy Skateboard:

you can blame me I faithed in a hot summer one day while shoveling in January ;)
  7:45am
T-Zero:

Oh! That was @PMP

@angelicaw; Haven't left the flat in days, only after midnight if Ijust had to grocery shop
  7:47am
annie:
