  9:31am
Chris from DC:

I've had this Mind Over Mirrors in heavy rotation for awhile. Great record.
  9:31am
pierre:

Bonjour Scott !
  9:33am
fred:

Good morning Scott.
I saw Circuit des Yeux last week. At first I didn't like her voice, but it grew on me real quick. Alas, the merch table was unmanned for a long while and then I had to catch the last train.
  9:40am
fred:

Salut again Pierre! So what are your plans for tonight? Swans, Electrelane and/or Audrey's bday?
  9:42am
Scott:

Just got a request for Rick James and Bedhead in the same phone call! Amazing!
  9:45am
fred:

Scott, that's an occupational hazard of being a WFMU DJ. You blow people's minds and they try to retaliate
  9:46am
Scott:

I feel violated.
  9:48am
fred:

Was the voice familiar? A fellow DJ pulling your leg maybe?
  9:51am
Scott:

ha, no. But that would be funny. It's ok, I was just kidding about feeling violated. I'm glad the guy called, man!
  9:51am
swami:

pg six sounds Harry Nilsson-ish
  9:53am
Corporate Slacker:

Paul McCartneyish?
  9:54am
Corporate Slacker:

Oh that would be Paul McCartney then
  9:54am
swami:

Doh! Stupid company laptop!
  9:54am
Scott:

Yeah slow updating the playlist there.
  9:54am
jack m.:

good morning, scott. it's already 90+ degrees, hope the a/c in the studio is working!
  9:54am
fred:

@scott: though I suspect a more likely WFMU prank call would be to ask for something obscure-sounding that doesn't exist
  9:55am
Corporate Slacker:

Whatever it's great stuff and this Heavy Flute keeps up the good vibe
  9:59am
mike tp:

hotter than a housepainters asshole in paterson . great early driving music scott
  10:03am
coelacanth:

???from the next room i thought it was Terry Reid.Thiscrappy hp laptop's flashplaya said(still says)"Circuit des Yeux"...playlist had updated to"Mind over Mirrors"...But i guess it was Paul McCartney!
  10:04am
Cecile:

bruceleh, have you thought of donating them to a coffeehouse or to a library?
  10:06am
bruceleh:

Cecile, good idea, I could dump them... I mean drop them off at the Tea Lounge.
  10:08am
hamburger / london:

obviously not with it today - I thought for some reason you had lots of re-issues of that Peter Gabriel album... weird
  10:08am
hamburger / london:

album / song.. samething..
  10:10am
Cecile:

Once I brought some old mags to my YMCA and they almost hugged me in gratitude. They always need 'em.
  10:11am
Cecile:

this kind of sounds like the riff from Pink Floyd's Time run through a Cusinart.
  10:12am
Handsome Harry:

Killin' it with BRUTE FORCE. Boy howdy.
  10:16am
Mr. Two-Arms:

How Handsome are you, Harry?

  10:31am
mike tp:

thats the good thing about not being too beautiful or handsome. the only way is up. then you come back down to earth for an ugly spell then walla beautiful great weekend my brothers and sisters
  10:38am
seang:

hand claps
  10:39am
fred:

Konso Tribe is great. It sounded less like what I'm used to from Ethiopia than the next ones, which sound equally good. This release sounds like yet another must-have from Sublime Frequencies
  10:42am
Scott:

It's really beautiful. I didn't see the film, but it comes with the full dvd as well.
  10:44am
jason:

the syncopated panpipes are amazing
  10:46am
w:

I. Simply. Must. Get. This. CD.
  10:46am
Marmalade Kitty:

Bogs own love trumpet!
  10:46am
fred:

My issue with DVDs is that I don't own a TV and my aging computer setup sometimes refuses to play some of these. As one of these rejects is the Jandek documentary, I'm wary of the software's taste in music
  10:48am
yair yona (tel aviv, Earth):

Hi Scott and everyone.
  10:51am
fred:

Hi Yair Yona! Any news of any possible appearance of yours in (or around) Paris in the future?
  10:52am
Scott:

yeah the syncopated panpipes are my favorite thing on there.
  10:52am
Marmalade Kitty:

or was it devil trombone..?
  11:05am
yair yona (tel aviv, Earth):

Fred - not yet, thanks for reminding me, I should write an email to the guys in Paris! ;)
  11:07am
fred:

Who are those guys? I might know them, so if I run into them I'll add some demand! Though it's highly unlikely I'll see them in August. But I have a long memory
  11:09am
Bad Ronald:

@Fred - Try this for your DVD woes:

  11:15am
Ike:

@Mike TP@9:59: HA! "Hotter than a house painter's asshole in Paterson"! Yep. Not sure it's precise, but a big sign on a skyscraper in midtown Manhattan says it's 103° F (42° C for our foreign friends). Plus freaking humid. Felt like I was wading through hot old dirty cooking oil walking to the office just now.
  11:15am
fred:

Thanks Bad Ronald, but that's what I'm using and why I blame my aging system. I could play it just fine on my parents's TV, and friends had no complaint -- well not about their ability to play it. And I just can't afford an upgrade/repair right now.
  11:16am
Marmalade Kitty:

the guitar sounds like Kurt Cobain..
  11:17am
Cecile:

Great set. I get a cool Nels Cline/Marc Ducret kind of vibe from it.
  11:18am
Marmalade Kitty:

my musical taste grew around grunge so I'm bound to say something like that
  11:25am
Scott:

Trevor Dunn (bass) plays with Nels pretty regularly.
  11:27am
Cecile:

Ha! I love it when my intuition gets it right.
  11:33am
Marmalade Kitty:

if they were to grunge it up.. :)
  11:34am
yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Fred- I don't remember their names, send me an email if you can and I will reply. Yair dot Yona at gmail
  11:36am
Marmalade Kitty:

Cecile, did you work in the music biz..? Your knowledge is tremendous!
  11:37am
Cecile:

Not really. I did college DJing, and have written reviews on and off. I mostly just listen to a lot of stuff.
  11:40am
yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

This interview is great. So interesting
  11:41am
Cecile:

I agree, yair. Always wonderful to hear a musician as comfortable with words as with notes.
  11:43am
Marmalade Kitty:

Cecile, you on the ball! :)
Tomas Fujiwara great stuff! Thanks Scott!
  11:43am
fred:

@yair yona: done!
  11:47am
Handsome Harry:

Nothing cures my summertime blues like well-played HIGH BRASS.
  11:52am
Julie:

Hey scott you're off the air at 91.1
  11:53am
Scott:

Did it just happen?
  11:54am
Scott:

webstream is ok?
  11:55am
yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Ok via iPhone
  11:55am
trolly mctrollster:

I'm just hearing some weird hippy music on the webstream
  11:57am
Scott:

Oh good, then it's working.
  11:58am
Scott:

It's too hot for the transmitter. Willbe back up at 91.1 asap.
  12:02pm
coelacanth:

Thankyou Scott
  12:02pm
Julie:

yeah it went out yesterday a couple times too, only for like 5-10 minutes I think.
  12:02pm
Julie:

You're back :)
