Listener comments!

  11:06am
hamburger / london:

hello michael! mustard and ketchup!
  11:07am
Bob:

I certainly wasn't expecting that.
  11:16am
Rob (from Mt hope):

morning Mike- 90.1 is in loud and clear, crank it!
  11:25am
G:

Top shelf. Every tune a number one style hit, w/ no artificial ingredients.
  11:30am
northguineahills:

good wakeup music !
  11:40am
paul:

Am I crazy or are you calling them #1 hits again?
  11:41am
James:

Morning! On the train to NYC for Ponderosa Stomp at Lincoln Center, should be a helluva show.
  11:42am
G:

wikipedia says: "Grits Ain't Groceries" (1969) (R&B #13, U.S. #73)

Still sounds number one style to me!
  11:46am
paul:

That would have been a great song for Amy Winehouse too record. Can't believe she is gone.
  12:06pm
Dave B:

Treniers = gold.

Morning Michael and listen/comment-ers
  12:07pm
paul:

So I'm not crazy!
Now just send Ken to Washington and get everyone to agree on a solution to the debt/budget problem.
  12:16pm
paul:

This sounds like a more literate Lloyd Michigan.
  12:20pm
Dave B:

also an unofficial member of the 27 Club (since he wasn't a musician) - Joseph Merrick.
  12:21pm
paul:

I think Scott's point was it just a little too soon for the discussion about her personally.
Now, it isn't. Just my opinion. No right or wrong answer on this one.
Either way, what a waste of great talent.
  12:23pm
paul:

please ignore the poor grammar in my last post :)
  12:32pm
Bob:

Is this version earlier than the Aaron Neville one?
  12:32pm
paul:

Archie "Hee Haw" Campbell?
  12:36pm
paul:

Bob...after a little research, it looks like AN's version was a couple of years before this one.
  12:42pm
Bob:

That's a great George track I had completely forgotten about. Despite being in the greatest band of all time, he gets almost completely overlooked as a guitar hero. His sound is so unmistakable.
  12:44pm
David:

I second Bob's comment above!
  12:45pm
BigJay:

There is a great live version of Cheer Down on you tube.
  12:46pm
M'lynn:

Sweet biscuits of Mercy! I just tuned in & looked over your playlist: Billy Lee & The Rivieras! Knew them well in '60's Detroit, Billy Levise who became Mitch Ryder and the guys from my neighborhood on the East Side. Great times at The hideout, Walled Lake Pavilion, 8 Mile Armory. Thanks!
  12:48pm
paul:

Gerri "shagged by Mick" Hall?
I know, different spelling.
  12:57pm
Lenny:

FOW Hotline is a brilliant piece of work; last week during the interview I got the impression that the real FOW weren't too enthusiastic about it and perhaps thought they were being mocked as opposed to being paid homage to
  1:07pm
Bob:

FOW can dish it, but not so much on the taking it. Great interview last week. I love their records but have to say, they are perhaps the biggest a-hole, rock star types I've ever spent time with. That includes meeting Elvis Costello during the tour where the Attractions first broke up, and the time I once had dinner with Sting. It's true!
  2:43pm
Michael Shelley:

Bob - what is your last name? The FOW guys were nice to me when they were here - and so was Elvis Costello when I met him.

Lenny - I totally disagree - listen back to what they said.
  10:44am
Lenny:

Mike, I listened again, and you're probably right. "Kind of an honor" could be interpreted different ways, and "did a pretty good impression of us" really understates how dead on the impression was, but I'll trust your judgment on this one. In any event, great interview, as usual
